We’re sad to report that John Travolta’s son has passed away at just 16 from a seizure:

The 16-year-old son of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston died Friday morning after suffering a seizure while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas, Travolta’s attorney told CNN.

“At this point, we know that John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s only son, Jett, had a seizure at around 10 a.m. this morning,” attorney Michael Ossi said. “All attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.”

The boy hit his head after the seizure, but the exact cause of death is not known, Ossi said. An autopsy will be conducted Monday. His body will be transferred to Ocala, Florida, for burial, he said.

Jett’s death “was completely out of the blue,” he said. “John and Kelly are happy when their children are happy. This is the worst day of John’s life.” Video Watch John Travolta and son Jett in Paris »

The Travoltas also have a daughter, Ella, 8.

Bahamian police said a caretaker at the West End resort where the Travoltas were vacationing found the teenager unconscious in the bathroom. Jett Travolta was taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport and was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

That’s tragic, ya’ll. We just wanted to send a quick shot out to the Travolta family to let them know we’re sorry for their loss. R.I.P. to the big homie, Jett.

that is exactly how a girl i know died..damn another one bites the dust rip

  • Bebu

its sad but probably was preventable. It was said that the boy had medical issues, but never properly medicated becuse his parents are Scientologists who dont believe in the use of medicine. Maybe these Scientologists will start to think over not using medicine when it hits closer to home. So sad

and how is this Bossip news?

  • crazylegs

thats so unfortunate. RIP Jett. What a way to start 09 for this family. there’s already negative rumors swirling around. I was about to say may they find strength in GOD during this time but I’m not sure what Scientologists believe in. Oh well, my condolences to the fam.

  • Tracey

Oh shit bebu you made a really valid sad point there, may the son rest in peace, but surely any child rights come before any cult.

If this was the case and I very much hope it was not, they need to answer some questions. Hopefully this brings will smith to his senses.

  • Honeybunz

Whatever the other details or rumors are its very sad..sorry for this family’s loss!

  • Jaelyn

To Hannibal – You are a sick person and you need some help. You need to know when it’s time to grieve and when it’s time to play. A child death, regardless of color is a very hard thing for a parent to deal with.

  • http://bossip AKeys STAN

Does anybody know about Scientology ??

  • http://bossip.com toocute

pray for him and his family,RIP

  • exotica

@Bebu: you’re 100% correct. It was widely known that the boy had Autism, not that Kawasaki syndrome like the family claimed. His parents denied he had an illness and because of their
Scientology beliefs they didn’t seek any form of treatment or help for their son’s disorder. Children who are autistic need 24 hour supervision so maybe this wouldn’t have happened if his parents hadn’t been in denial and gotten the boy the care he needed.

I swear Scientology is a cult, and how these celebrities get sucked in is beyond me.

  • Brianna !!

    @ AKeys Stan

This is from the Scientology website
Man is an immortal, spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized — and those capabilities can be realized. He is able to not only solve his own problems, accomplish his goals and gain lasting happiness, but also achieve new, higher states of awareness and ability.

In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by personally applying its principles and observing or experiencing results.

Blessings to his family. It’s horrible to lose a child. May God bless their family at this time.

  • http://gorgeousblackwomen.blogspot.com/ gorgeous black women

    it’s unfortunate.

my understanding was that he had autism but they don’t believe in it so they said it was Kawasaki Syndrome.

  • dubdub2000

Darn, that is really messed up. RIP to him he really didn’t have an easy life with his illness and all.

For those wondering if he was supervised: From what TMZ is saying he had a 24/7 nanny so he was being supervised (though probably not medicated).

I’ve always liked JT and family, they don’t push their CO$ beliefs down anybody’s throat, mind their own business and always just seemed really positive (though clearly brainwashed). My thoughts go out to them, God only knows what kind of BS the Co$ leaders are going to have to cram into JT and family’s mind to justify this. I feel real bad for the little sister too.

If JT really performed CPR on his own son while waiting for the ambulance as TMZ says, at least he has the knowledge that he did everything he could have in that context, but goodness I can’t imagine his heartbreack.

Thoughts and prayers to JT and fam.

    and @ amsterdam,
could u be a little more rude? thanks.

    anyway, RIP, young man.
and my condolences to his family and friends.

  • Slim

I wouldn’t get my info on Scientology from their website- it’s just words that mean nothing to try and suck the reader into their crazy cult.

Basically, Scientology was started in the mid-1900′s by a science fiction author named L. Ron Hubbard. Yes, that’s right- a dude who wrote sci fi books. I can’t remember all the details, but his theory was something about aliens coming here, and “thetans” in the body.

I’d check out a neutral source for info..or Wikipedia. And see if you can find the video of Tom Cruise endorsing Scientology..it’s truly creepy, someone from the cult release a clip of a promo video he did for the “religion” and it’s terrifying.

  • exotica

@Slim: isn’t that crazy how Scientology started? Man I need a hustle like L Ron Hubbard so a bunch of dumb, egotistical celebrities give ME all their stacks.

  • Frog-a-licious

    R.I.P. Jett.

    So tragic!

  • city

i can relate. cause a family member of mine has autism. rip jett. you left way too soon.

  • snoop bloggy blog

what a tragedy, god bless the travolta’s in this troubling time. R.I.P. JETT TRAVOLTA

  • YesPlease!

Sad. What a horrible way for a family to bring in the new year. Sad indeed.

  • sugar&spice

Wow @ ig’nant folks insinuating that the people here at Bossip shouldn’t care about Jett’s death because he’s white. There are plenty of Black folks out there who like John Travolta as an actor, and I happen to be one of ‘em. I was absolutely horrified yesterday when I read of his son’s passing, and it’s even more tragic to think that had he been given the proper treatment for what REALLY ailed him, he would possibly still be alive. But I suppose in the grand scheme of things, it’s really of no consequence now. *sigh*

    And @ Brianna
    co-sign on the glass! ;)

  • beloved

    r.i.p how sad

  • Fierce Chili

    Rest In Peace Jett

  • BossipKeepShitGoing

ive been on various websites and thats all i hear is that john and kelly didnt treat him properly, meaning medication. first off all im not a scientologist and i dont believe in medication all of the time. i try to heal myself before i go to the doctor. some of yall can call me crazy but whatever. everybody body is different and what works for one dont work for the next person. im not a doctor so i dont know what was wrong with jett. i dont know what treatment was used in the past or present, so im not ASSUMING. but its sad that its 2009 and people are still ignorant. i dont know why i thought things would chnage, but hey i blame people upbringing.

  • sugar&spice

    ^^
So if you had cancer you would try to ‘heal yourself’ b4 seeking help from a doctor? Yeah…that sounds good. *rollz eyez xtra hard*
And for the record, just because people believe that John and Kelly lied about Jett’s medical issues and didn’t care for him properly based on their Scientology beliefs, that DOESN’T make them ignorant. I don’t know if you have kids, but as parents, we are supposed to ensure that our kids are healthy and if that means moving heaven and earth to make it happen, that’s what gets done. There’s no way in hell I would deny either one of my kids medical treatment based on some bogus, made up ‘religion’, but hey…that’s just me.

  • Knottmy Hair

dats a BIG dude! i’d bet it was weight and not seizure….he looks like his dads twin….JT has my sympathy….i know whats its like to lose a son.

  • Covon;)

I love JT. So sad about his son and family

  • BossipKeepShitGoing

@sugar&spice, suzanne somers had cancer and she DID NOT SEEK TREATMENT from medical doctors. she didnt receive chemo or nothing. she ate differently and used herbs she said. so that was her choice to do and shes been cancer free for years now.

if i had cancer i dont know what id do, im not assuming what id do. but as i said when a person gets sick or have a disease they dont have to automatically seek medicine from doctors. once a person starts taking medicine after a while it stops working. the body get so used to that medicine it dont work no more. and then when taking medicine, it have side effects also.

those are you opinions you made and these are mine. YOU ARE NOT IN THE TRAVOLTAS household so you have no idea what they were doing, youre ASSUMING that he was denied this or that. youre reading what others are saying, if you wasnt at their doctors office when Jett was diagnosed you have no clue what he had.

sugar&spice, you have alot to learn in this world and with you having kids.you know what let me stop its a new year and im a changed person thus far.

everybody and their loved ones have a blessed and safe new year.
