Perhaps cosby is attempting to atone for his past misdeeds. Its all good. Unlike many of these so called enligthed gangsta rappers, telling people not to “snitch,” on blacks killing other blacks, telling people not to “snitch” on blacks selling drugs to their own people. They are the real uncle toms. I mean give me a break, people are killing other people ,other black people and there is a “movement,” to tell people not to snitch. Let me tell you this, if I know of any drug dealers im telling.

Cosby is no uncle Tom, and anyone who tries to label him as such clearly has no idea what the term means. First, the majority of black Americans are phukin' up... I'm black, and when I first started to attend college people in my neighborhoood started calling me white. What the hell? those negroes would've respected me more if I was doing drive-bys on their children. Why do so many black ppl accept the shitty things in life and call it "Gold". I'm tired of those no-goal having ni99as, who are caught in the illusion of the good-life as a rapper or baller, Cosby tells the truth even though he talks as if he doesn't like blks. I'm sorry if I also come off a bit harsh, & I really apologize if my words offend, but damn... I'm tired of seeing a ppl committed to the destruction of our community.

Oprah made it big b/c she is a poster. I can respect that she is a black woman on tv (woop woop) but is she truly a black icon for what she does for her black national community. More white poeple at her show than black people and more white guest than blacks. The average black person would not be in tune with her show or topics. Plus hard working black folks aren’t off at 4. Ya know the show was not made for us.

------------------------------------------

Man!!!!! I don't believe this!!

If there were no white people at her show, that would go back to the racist debate...

What did Martin Luther King say? "I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood."

...White and black people together....

Oprah made it big because she was determined to make it and never gave up...

I was watching a programme on the book Roots (Kunta Kinte!!) and how much impact it had on African Americans trying to establish their roots. At the end some dude came on trying to say that Alex Haley was a fraud and womaniser and wasn't the person we knew as the brilliant author. Should those revelations take anything away from the power of the message in that book? I sure as hell don't think so. Racism is rampant everywhere but if we as a people use that as an excuse not to try and better ourselves, then we are f'd up. A better life doesn't always mean millions of dollars; the very minimal is self sufficiency. I see kids in Africa living on a prayer begging for a chance to even go to school and some of these kids have that chance and don't take it. Cosby is right. The education system could be improved etc but if kids don't want an education, nothing's gonna change

Everyone has their faults; Bill Cosby included. The message is plain and simple; accountability for our actions and not blaming the white man for all that holds us back and waiting them to pick us up for the journey to the promised land of 40 acres and a mule. We as a community have more freedoms than our forefathers and we are less prodcutive in many areas such as: stable families, men graduating from college, men graduating from high school, and work ethic to get a head.

Do I blame rap music? No, it is only part of the problem and that is what Bill Cosby pulled the curtain on and exposed it for all to see. Fathers not being there for their children (Bill falls into that with a child outside of his marriage), priorities are wrong: getting the new sneakers and latest gear sometimes come before buying a computer or books for our children to read besides the Source and King. We are quick to applaud the atheletes and enteratiners amongst our youth as if all we are capable of being entertainment for the white man. Yet, we beat down those that are academically strong with accusations of their wanting to be white, talking white, forgetting where they came from, not keeping it real, etc...We have to be "Hood" to be considered black; where is the first place people move from when they get enough money? The "Hood" is in the rearview mirror and the mansion is in our sights with the pictures of Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Al Capone or some other white actors/gangsters hanging all around the house.

The whole point of this is Bill Cosby is not an Uncle Tom because he has different viewpoint than others. But by accepting responsibility for our our actions, stop blaming slavery, selling drugs to our people to make a fast dollar, shooting each other over drugs/reppin the Hood (property that you don't own and will never own; this makes sense). I know the story about drugs and gun being white Americas way of controlling and killing us off. The white/Latino men bring the drugs into our communities, so therefore we have no choice but to buy that coke from them, cook it into crack, get some teens to distribute it, poison our black brother and sisters, count our profits, and then start that cycle again. Boy, that white man is crafty in the way that he forced that coke upon us and made us sell it as crack. Kind of the same way that he bought assault rifles, semi-automatic pistols into our neighborhoods and made us buy them, then purchase bullets, then load the weapons and finally shoot another black man, woman or some innocent child. That white man is slick!!! But Bill Cosby is a problematic Uncle Tom for telling us about ourselves.

Sometimes, especially in these times we tend to destroy the messenger. Years later as often the case we come to realize after the messenger is dead and gone, they were absolutely correct. I rememeber in the sixties, there were those in the Black commnuity, in the northern city of Chicago where i grew up, that stood agaist Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Dr. King was there to protest the slums of Chicago. He was called names much more nastier than Uncle Tom, by many of the Black Political establistment. It was they who caused Dr. King to doubt his commitment to the struggle in the north. Bill Cosby may be alot of things, but uncaring about his people is not one of them. Truth be told, we see everyday the wrong message being fed to our young. Even on your site, example Nas new CD name. Should your site be blamed for what could be promoting his twisted logic? I Don't think so. So don't confuse the message and the messenger. Judge on the honest merits.
