Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham on Monday blasted former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s comment that there is a “dark vein of intolerance” in the Republican Party as “patently absurd.”

“The idea that the Republican Party’s problem is that the party is inherently racist, or led by racists, or has a core of racists in it, is just patently absurd,” Ingraham said, according to a transcript from her radio show. Ingraham said Powell, who identifies as a Republican, “sounds more like Reverend Al [Sharpton] than Ronald Reagan.”

On Sunday, Powell told NBC’s “Meet the Press” there is a “dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party. What do I mean by that?” he said. “What I mean by that is they still sort of look down on minorities.”

Ingraham responded to Powell’s claim by noting that the Republican Party is “the same Republican Party that elevated Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Allen West, Mia Love, Susana Martinez, Ted Cruz, [and] Bobby Jindal.”

SMH. She knows good and damn well the GOP party is full of racist f**ks.
