Oxygen Cancels Shawty Lo’s ‘All My Babies’ Mamas’

A recent online petition to keep Shawty Lo’s proposed reality show “All My Babies’ Mamas” off the air, apparently did the trick.

According to The Daily Beast, the petition – which so far has accrued nearly 40,000 signatures – and the public’s outrage in general to a reality show following Shawty Lo and his 10 baby mamas, has forced Oxygen to can the show. Sources say that the network will be making a formal announcement shortly.

Although the petition gathered more than 33,000 signatures in 10 days, Oxygen originally defended their position to proceed with the show, saying that “it was not meant to be a stereotypical representation of everyday life for any one demographic or cross section of society.’’

However, Sabrina Lamb, the author of the petition, expressed happiness that so many people took offense. She said:

“I love that the people who’ve signed the petition are from all backgrounds, ages, and countries. This one elderly white man wrote me and said even he was tired of the stereotypical images of black people.

This show is about more than a rapper and his girlfriends. This is a show about kids who had no choice in how they came into the world. This show sets them up to be ridiculed and made fun of. None of us should be OK with that.’’

Although, Shawty Lo’s new show probably won’t be on air doesn’t mean the rapper is done spreading his seed. New reports claim the potent king of Black Ice has knocked up another woman…

Shawty Lo has been criticized recently after it was announced that his upcoming reality TV show, “All My Babies’ Mamas”, will air on the Oxygen channel. He has around 10 baby mamas, and while it hasn’t been confirmed by Shawty Lo just yet, it appears as though he’ll be adding one more baby mama to that list as a source reported to TheYBF.com that he is the father. His ex-girlfriend Jai Jai posted a picture of her pregnant belly on Instagram.

However, sources claim Oxygen are not pulling the plug yet on the show…

A representative for Oxygen TV has responded to recent reports that the controversial show “All My Babies’ Mamas” will be getting the axe.

The show, which centers around Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo, his 10 babies mothers and their 11 children, has been a lightning rod for controversy since it was announced in December.

Despite a petition that has received well over 40,000 signatures and the threat of a boycott from the Parents Television Council, a representative for Oxygen told AllHipHop.com exclusively that the show is still in development.

“This rumor is simply untrue. The project remains in early development,” an Oxygen rep told AllHipHop.com.

In recent days, reports have surfaced that NBC/Oxygen would bow to demands that the show be canceled.

As of press time, “All My Babies’ Mamas” is slated for a spring debut.
