Have any doubts that President Barack Obama is a man of his word on his support of gay rights?
On Sunday, in his annual pre-Super Bowl interview, Obama encouraged the Boy Scouts of America to end its ban on gay members and leaders. “My attitude is … that gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does, in every institution and walk of life,” the president told CBS anchor Scott Pelley.
In a few days, the Boy Scouts national leadership is expected to vote on ending the controversial and long-standing rule.
Would you allow your son to join or remain in a Boy Scouts troop if you knew there were gay leaders and members?
