Jermaine Dupri has just been fired from his position as the President of Island Records:

AllHipHop.com has received an exclusive report that Atlanta-based producer Jermaine Dupri’s tenure as President of Island Records Urban Music has come to an end. A formal announcement of his departure from the position, which he has held for nearly two years, may come as early as Thursday (Jan 8). Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source close to the situation confirmed to AllHipHop.com that Dupri has in fact been terminated effective immediately.

The recession is even taking it’s toll on the big dogs of music.. This advice is going out to all entertainers: Save the money that you have left and stop making gaudy, extravagant purchases before you end up living in a box, sleeping on your precious chain.

The whole music industry should be fired. I am upset at the fact that RNB music doesn’t not exist the way it did any the 90’s when it was about feeling pain, joy love and lost. Now its all about the hottest beat.

  4. Aunt Viv

    **YAWN**
    JD will be aight.

  5. eveinthegarden

Folks better start stuffin’ their mattress-the layoffs are going clear to the TOP.

  6. What was the last bona fide hit that was anyway *****ociated with Jermaine Dupri?

    I’m just curious.

  7. told you so

    @ Daniel
It was “I missed the Bus” by Kris Kross

  8. SOMER

NWNY….I totally agree. Back in the 80’s & 90’s you had the best R&B and the best rap share the airwaves. Now you have all rap (Bad & good) that dominates. The radio stations will allow 2 singers at one time on to their playlist and you best believe that one is a lip sync/dance artist.

Here in Atl, you can record some rap bull***** at noon & Greg Street will play it on his show at 6pm. The other night I heard on Greg’s show some hood hoes rapping

    I DON’T TALK
    I DON’T ARGUE
I JUST HIT THAT ***** WITH A BOTTLE

She just keep saying that over & over. RAP WITH NO SUBSTANCE! Mint Condition got the hottest R&B joint out right now & can’t get it played on V103.

  9. Um well at least he still has TAG Records lol

  10. Raquel26

    @Somer: LOL

Hey! They could of at least continued the song!

    I DONT TALK
    I DONT ARGUE
I JUST HIT THAT ***** WITH A BOTTLE
THEN I’M SITTING IN A CELL DOING A 10 YEAR BID
WISHING I COULD HAVE MY KIDS BUT THEY WITH CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES

MY WELFARE ABOUT TO GET DENIED
AND MY HOOD ***** STOLD MY RIDE
    NOW I’M MAD AS HELL
CUZ I’M SITTING IN A CELL

    ALL CUZ I DONT ARGUE
AND I HIT THAT ***** WITH A BOTTLE.

    lol

And wasnt that Remy Ma’s ***** anyway? I’m curious.

JD IS GONNA GET ANOTHER JOB BUT HOW MANY OF US CAN LOSE THAT MANY JOBS IN 3 YEARS AND STILL GET ANOTHER ONE IN THE SAME FIELD. WHEN ARE THESE COMPANIES GONNA LEARN AND GIVE ANOTHER PERSON A CHANCE. CAUSE JD AINT BAD BUT HE HASNT BEEN RESPECTED FOR AWHILE. PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY RESPECT HIM BUT TO THE YOUTH HE PLAYED OUT LIKE JANET

  13. c from stl

    @Daniel

I think it was Mariah Carey’s album ‘eman*****tion of MiMi’…. I think that album was what catapulted him to this position in the first place because he produced alot of the tracks on there… That’s the last thing I can remember.

  14. H-towndownunder

    @Somer

You are so right MINT CONDITION does have the baddest song out right now..and they barely play it on the only true R&B station we have here in Houston….I LOVES ME SOME MINT CONDITION..

  15. HE NEEDS TO GET FIRED ALL HE DO IS KEEP HIS HEAD UP JANET JACKSON ***** LITTLE DUM ***** *****

  16. SOMER

    RAQUEL26………….LMAO!

  17. Raquel26

earth to Jermaine Dupri: stop partying and handle business!!!

  19. ***** first

ain’t nothing worse than a short ***** with short money.

damn, betta hope Ms. Janet (cuz I’m nasty) don’t fire that ***** too!

  20. SOMER

Mint Condition single title….Nothing left to say. The song writing is cl*****ic.

  21. nikkib

this music industry sucks *****! R&B music sound like a bunch of doublemint gum comercials.
Brandy even lost her soul! they dont realize that 10 years from now we wont have any soul jam oldie but goodies to bump. BRING REAL BLACK MUSIC BACK PLEASE!!…DAMN!

  24. kit

NOT surprizing he left jAnet career bullet ridden aNd on the critical list NOT ASPECTING TO SURVIVE

  25. darealwifey

Not surprised. What has Jermaine done for them? Jay Z was a great label head. Jermaine got too wrapped up in trying to control Janet’s career. He should have let her do her, and he should’ve done him. Never mix business and personal.

  26. Crazy ***** Rodney

    Top 30 you unemployed SNITCHEZ!!!!

  27. BossipKeep*****Going

the last cd was mariah careys, and before that i have no idea. he really *****ed up on brutha or whatever their name is. its too mnay in the group and their songs are blah blah blah.

jd need to take some time off and refocus because hes putting out garbage music and im not even going to get on dondria aka phatffat or whoever you spell it.

  28. BossipKeep*****Going

jay z was not a good president imo. what act besides rihanna and kanye west did good under his leadership? and then jayz put more into teirra marie more than he did with rihanna. and in the end results rihanna did so much better.

  29. FURIOUZ STYLEZ

HE NEEDS TO STOP STEALING OTHER PRODUCER’S ***** AND CLAIMING THE CREDIT

    …THIS’LL TEACH HIS *****

  30. good he did nothing over there except 4 saving mariah carey

he could not even save his girl janet

There is still good music out here y’all. I heard this new chick live with her band at Sugar Hill in Atlanta just before Christmas by the name of Casuell. This chick ROCKED THE HOUSE!! Y’all better keep an eye on her if you are a lover of REAL music. I think she’s dropping her debut album real soon.

She is a killer vocalist, especially live. She has a My*****e page my*****e.com/casuell you definitely need to check her out!

    @ Noelle

Tag Records, Tag Body Spray, the lamest ***** ever LOL

    @Somer

Damn shame about Mint Condition and others who can’t get on. The bull***** these greedy fools in the music keep pushing down the public’s throat. Good the music industry is crumbling.

  34. cant understand why people dog him out so bad, thats bad that he was fired, what will he do now

  35. Bookshelf dude, spent too much time being all loving with Janet and not enough time handling business. You can’t mix business with cooter. That’s a fact and here’s the proof.

  36. Playlist

He’ll land on a pile of money. No big deal.

  37. dismymoney

Can anyone tell me what JD did at Island that made him lose his job?

  38. UrbanMusicLives…. Casuell

I heard her too. Fantastic vocals. Finally someone that can truly sing without studio help. Not to mention she writes and produces. I actually got an opportunity to talk to her. Good peeps too. I bought 4 CD’s and gave them to my friends and family… she is that good.
