Chris Brown showed up to a court appearance in Los Angeles on issues related to his probation Wednesday evening with pop star Rihanna by his side. Brown was in court to face accusations that he violated his probation by submitting false community service records in connection with his sentence for assaulting Rihanna in 2009. At the hearing, Superior Court Judge James Brandlin asked for additional reports and set a new hearing date of April 5. Mark Geragos, a lawyer for Brown, told KABC that Brown “didn’t violate anything.” Geragos said the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office “should be ashamed of themselves [because] they besmirched the reputation of Chris Brown based on no evidence.” Brown, by prior agreement, has been completing his community service obligation in his home state of Virgina, but the L.A. County District Attorney claimed in legal documents, posted by the Los Angeles Times, that Brown may have faked his community service work and that documentation of his hours were, “at best sloppy, and at worst fraudulent reporting.”
