The new J’s are out and we all better watch our steps because at $190 a pair, we could be pushing up daisies should we accidentally get to scuffing up someone’s. Michael Jordan, himself, was on hand in NY for the release of the new sneaks at Event Space.

The most important pic from the entire event, the actual Jordan shoe is below.

    Ugly ass shoes

  • Dina

    Anyone that would pay $190 for a pair of sneakers that cost $2 to manufacture deserves to be ripped off. more power to mj.

  • BE

    I can’t see paying all this money for sneakers unless you are in the NBA or at least the starting line up in college. People spend their money on the dumbest stuff

  • BossLa

    I think they dope….guys gonna love um

  • PURPPLE

    O BOO

    I will never buy Jordans, for obvious reasons but my vein reason would be because when those limited edition red black and white jordans came out sometime between 01-05, they almost look like water shoes, and they only sold them in finish line were sold out forever after like the first couple weeks…I HATE JORDANS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kigali (Channeling her inner Dr. Laura and Judge Judy for Bossip retards)

    I am sorry brother Jordan you had a very great well deserved run but at this point your shoes are just selling because it comes with your name. Your shoes have been ugly for years and years. I happen to love sneakers. They are real works of art but Jordans are just shit.

  • http://bossip AKeys

    I went to high school where kids would spend their mothers welfare checks to get a pair of jordans I just don’t get Those Sneakers are made in china and Made by children (SLAVE LABOR) children get paid dimes a day to make your Jordans Wake up people.

  • Sydney

    $190 shoes in this economy, and there will be tons of parents lined up to dole out their hard-earned money on sneakers for their kids. . .And some of those kids, in turn, will be robbed of them.

    SMH.

  • http://bossip AKeys

    “It costs $5 to make the shoes here and [they] sell them at the United States at more than $200

  • Common Sense

    Its a shame that what was previously considered casual or sports wear became dress shoes! WTf is happening here?? LOL

  • http://bossip AKeys

    American media reported earlier this month that NBA star Michael Jordan and his club the Chicago Bulls are indirectly involved in the child labor dispute on the grounds that the basketball players promote Nike sneakers and in particular the Air Jordan basketball shoes. SLAVE LABOR

  • Kigali (Channeling her inner Dr. Laura and Judge Judy for Bossip retards)

    The Air Jordan III’s were probably one of the best designed shoe.

  • Sydney

    I didn’t know that, AKeys. Thanks for the info!

    Yet another reason to dislike MJ. *grimacing*

    On an unrelated note, but related to kids, did anyone hear about this shooting in Chicago?

    At least one of the five people who were wounded in a drive-by shooting outside Dunbar High School on the South Side Friday night remained hospitalized this morning, Chicago police said.

    Authorities have said the shooting was gang-related and that they don’t believe any of the victims attended Dunbar.

  • http://www.flyygurl.blogspot.com bae19

    oh and i just saw the price. $190? We’re in a recession and he just wanna UP the price, too?
    Nigga please!

  • MissBlaze43

    I would like to thank Michael Jordan for the on-slaught that will be leashed on TEENAGERS whom are already killing each other for nothing. Now they’ll be killing each other for these Jordans.

    It behooves me how this man can be so obviously BLIND by the economy and what’s going on with the ‘average’ human being who are loosing their jobs left n’ right.

    It’s not RICH people who buy these sneakers / tennis shoes (if you’re from the South) – it’s the ‘average’ person.

    Thanks – but no thanks, MJ! You’ve just contributed to the mass chaos that will ensue in trying to purchase your product!

  • http://bossip AKeys

    @ Sydney

    No I didn’t hear that So crazy Chicago is on fire

  • Sydney

    @MissBlaze

    “It behooves me how this man can be so obviously BLIND by the economy and what’s going on with the ‘average’ human being who are loosing their jobs left n’ right.”

    Exactly! People are having a hard time just putting food on the table and keeping a roof over their heads.

  • PURPPLE

    the last time i paid that type of money for a shoe(well my mother did) was them daym NIKE Hirachi’s(sp) green yellow and white baby! my feet were fresh. never again.

  • http://bossip AKeys

    @ MissBlaze43
    Yes you are so right Rich Kids don’t wear Jordans
    They walk around in Air walks and Skechers that cost less than $50 bucks

  • MissBlaze43

    @ Sydney

    Yes – I just heard about that. Also, there was apparently another shooting in New Orleans – a young black man with no criminal record, sitting in the car waiting for his cousin when po-po open-fired on him.

    The closer we get to the inauguration – the more these COPS are getting out of hand, I noticed.

    Also – they’ve given this clown BERNIE “MADE OFF WITH MY MONEY” MADOFF the opportunity to stay ‘locked up in his home’ the opportunity to sell off his belongings / and give it to his family so that it won’t be taken from him to give back to those whom he’s stollen from.

    It’s just getting worse and worse all over the place.

  • MissBlaze43

    @ AKEYS

    EXACTLY – and you can’t tell me that this man doesn’t know that. He knows what market he’s selling hit product to.

  • Kigali (Channeling her inner Dr. Laura and Judge Judy for Bossip retards)

    @MissBlaze,

    Personal responsibility sister. Remember that? You should still be allowed to wear expensive things during an economic downturn. If someone is stealing your Jordans they arent doing it to feed themselves. Its not like the proverbial loaf of bread. Black folks should have been staying away from luxury items even during the Golden Years of the Clinton administration. We need to save when times are good too.

  • Sydney

    @MissBlaze

    Wait, are you referring to the death of Adolph Grimes (he was reportedly shot 12 times in the back, I believe).

    There’s also the story of the brother who was shot in Houston — There was a story about it on cnn.com.

  • http://bossip AKeys

    @ Kigali
    I agree

  • Kigali (Channeling her inner Dr. Laura and Judge Judy for Bossip retards)

    @Sydney,

    You know thee is a website called -every block dot com- where you can check out crime states according to zip code. They will give you the street, time, and what happened. Check it out.

  • Kigali (Channeling her inner Dr. Laura and Judge Judy for Bossip retards)

    @Akeys,

    Who doesnt use slave labor? You know how much your Jordans would cost if they used American labor having to pay for health care, pensions and all that? A pair of Jays would probably cost $400. You better thank God for Cambodian children.

  • http://bossip AKeys

    @MissBlaze and Sydney

    It’s just going to be worse hard times come with more Crime more and more people are buying guns
    people are not scared to run up in your home and rob you .

    Who is Teyana Taylor and who is still out there buying these overpriced, ugly-ass space shoes still…really yall…stay retro if U want to rock Jordns, but this is just silly…I guess it’s like going to a great rock show every year even when the artist has reach it’s prime decades ago…
    I myse;f owned one pair of Jordans back in the 11th grade the one that also came with “Hare Jordan” because of the movie Space Jam and the only reason why is because my boyfriend a the time bought them for me…my first and last pair…I personally rock Diesels and Pony’s but I’ll play ball in whatever…maybe I shoud get some basketball shows, but I will buy some cheap Reeboks before I pay that type of crazy money on some Jordans just because they are Jordans

  • MissBlaze43

    @ Sydney

    Yep, that’s the one. I have CNN on, but what I was researching earlier was the “TEN BANKS INVOLVED IN LAUNDERING MONEY FOR TERRORIST GROUPS”. Lloyds TSB was involved. And because of the way they hid it – when it passed through the AMERICAN BANKS, it was undetected so they couldn’t tell what it was really for.

  • Sydney

    Interesting site — Thanks for the info, Kigali.

    I know every major city has issues with crime, but some of the stories out of Chicago, particularly those involving kids, are really disturbing to read. I think at one point I read that kids had to be escorted by guards to class.

    @AKeys

    Yes, when the economy worsens, crime tends to rise. I read a local story yesterday about an older man who was brutally attacked and robbed on Christmas Eve after he dropped his wife off at church.

    Some people don’t have any sort of conscience or moral system nowadays. . .

    I hadn’t heard that story — I’ll have to check that out.

  • way2real

    They’re more than just shoes, you women today just so unhappy with yourselves you just can’t stand to see no one doing good. Jordans been $150-$200, ain’t nothing new. I bet some of yall smoke or drink, or have sex for money. I don’t smoke or drink, so I got plenty Jordan money. Don’t knock the hustle, get your own!!!

  • MissBlaze43

  • MissBlaze43

    @ way2real

    Glad to know you’ve got the money for your Jordan’s, Luv. Enjoy – and I hope you don’t get knocked up side your big ass head that’s filled with such PRIDE for these sneakers.

    We ALL know what the price of Jordan’s are. I have two grown daughters who BOTH liked these sneakers when they were younger.

    I know the price of Jordans and I also know how some sneaker stores JACKED THE PRICE UP ON THAT ASS!

    You sound like one of those people who didn’t have a problem paying that EXTRA price – Just so you could rock them.

    Do ya thang – I ain’t mad at cha – but I’d rather keep my damn money in my pocket, thank you very much!

    @Everone

    Good afternoon people…what’s on the agenda for today???

  • Sydney

    Again, this is unrelated to the thread (but related to kids), but Charles Blow (a brother columnist for the New York Times) has an interesting column today on cocaine use among white teens — Reminds me of that 80′s flick, Less Than Zero:

    Last month, President Bush touted the results of a government-sponsored study by the University of Michigan called Monitoring the Future. It reported a broad decline in drug use among young people since 2001. This included a 24 percent drop in the overall use of illicit drugs. There was one exception he said: abuse of painkillers. But, one important metric that wasn’t mentioned, and that stubbornly resisted the downturn, was the use of cocaine.

    According to data from the group that produced the report, the percentage of both black and white 12th graders who confessed to using cocaine in the past 30 days has essentially stayed flat since 2001. The major difference is that white usage outweighs black usage 4 to 1. (If you take a longer view back to 1991, when cocaine usage bottomed out following the outrageous ’80s, usage among white 12th graders since then has nearly doubled, while usage among black 12th graders has fallen a bit.)

    @Sydney,

    I’ve always heard the most bizarre shit out of Chicago. Chicago, like New York, has way too much shit going on for people to just be doing nothing. If you live in a major city there is always something to do, some oppurtunity to better yourself no excuse for the senselessness of these crimes.

    I think crime may be attributed to a number of factors — Unemployment and a lack of activities for kids being among them.

    I also think a number of kids are raising themselves with little parental guidance.

    Has Nike made enough enough money off of minorities, especially the lower-class to poor ones who will spend $190 for shoes like these and not have $190 for a college fund or put that money in their retirment funds. For those people who will spend this kind of money on shoes would they spend it on tutoring for their kids, or more more than the minimum on their credit cards. People are so dumb. Unless you make $190 an hour, you should not ut such expensive shoes unless it is for your job.

  • DR.FUNK

    Neat little trick.Take a shoe that costs 5-7 bux to make…sell it for 190.I just go to the Nike outlet when I need workout shoes.The 120 dollar cross trainers usually end up reduced to 40 at the outlet.As for dress shoes…I’m picky.Nothing like the fit,feel & look of FERRAGAMO or TESTONI on the dogs.I will go as far as saying that when it comes to social/formal shoes-you will look under-dressed in anything less.NOT CHEAP however.I’m not a shoe or clothes horse…but I think if it’s in your budget…the shoe rack should look like this:

    BLACK LACE-UP DRESS SHOES -FERRAGAMO or TESTONI
    BROWN LACE-UP DRESS SHOES – ” ” ” ”
    BLACK DRESS BOOT
    BROWN DRESS BOOT
    CROSS TRAINERS FOR THE GYM
    SPORT SPECIFIC SHOE(S) – MINE IS BASEBALL & GOLF
    STEEL TOE WORK BOOTS
    BEACH SANDALS

    @Dina, I am so with you. I think it is outlandish for Micheal Jordan to endorse a product marketed to people who generally are living pay check to paycheck. (Most American’s, even Kigali). Honestly, in this economy, he’d make more news about his shoes if he had significantly lowered the price of his shoes. What the hell is NIKE thinking. They’re lucky to be still going afloat at a time when many retailers are sinking, and to push such shoes that like Dina said cost next to nothing to make. I’m sorry Jordan, well not really, but I’m not supporting him and his cheating behind. I’ll let his “perfect” soon to be new wife do that! I suggest everyone else follows suit.

And you’re right not a lot of white people don’t buy his shoes because they don’t want to see his black ass make money off of them and white people have better spending habits, they’ll opt to buy a pair of $60 Nikes or Reeboks before they waste their money on a pair of $200 shoes, and I can’t say I blame them. I could buy 3 good pair tenny shoes for the price of 1 pair of Jordan’s.

    But that’s the low self worth of poor black people we have to wear expensive shit to feel like we’re worth something and retailers know it, Michael Jordan, Tommy Hillfiger, Prada all pimping the poor.

    I am no fan of MJ but he is just being a sharp businessman. Baby phat, guess, apple bottoms,and the rest of the name brands will still continue to market their product regardless of the recession.

    If you can’t afford the sneaker, then don’t buy it. I think MJ has a large number of people who will keep fattening his pockets.

    I personally think they they are some ugly ass sneakers, but that is just my opinion.

  • Tisha

    Mj is not reponsible for a bunch of unruly teens robbing one another for those shoes.

    Children who are trained properly regardless of the family income or finacial status know the difference between right and wrong.

    Everywhere you go there are high priced items that some people can not afford. Don’t blame the manufacturer that someone got murdered over it because they couldn’t afford the item.

    It is the individual who is severly flawed. If you can’t afford the item that you want, work hard, save your money and then purchase it. That is the values that you should teach your children.
    Not, look at Mj he is a crook taking advantage of the inner city youths, he knows they like the sneakers but won’t sell them cheap. I don’t see Diddy cutting his prices in half for the poor.

    It is deplorable to call black entrepenuers crooks because the won’t sell their product for $19.99, for the hood, but have no problem shelling out $200.00 for Louis vuiotton, prada, and coach.

    Thieves always find an excuse to blame someone else for their poverty.

    Just because we are in a recession does not mean that we are going to see a landslide in prices. These people have to make a profit as well.

    Shame on Mike for endorsing these ridiculously priced shoes. But buying them is a choice, there is no one, not even the white man, holding a gun to your head making you buy them. Let’s see rent vs. a new overpriced pair of ugly Jordans? Hmmm, seems like a pretty easy decision to me. F*ck Mike and Nike.

  • Unkle Ruckus

    No thanks, I’ll keep rocking my 15 dollar Starburys all day. I have more than enough pairs and still haven’t hit the 190 mark. I feel good.

    @STEFANY

    There isn’t anything wrong with a parent buying these sneakers for their children, if it is in their means. If you can afford the finer things in life that is great. Parents are suppose to want the best for their children.

    I do have a problem with parents spending their rent, welfare check, or utility money to pay for high priced items that is not in their budget. That is ridiculous. If you don’t have the money, you can buy a pair of Nikes for less.

  • nicole

    i don’t know why black people keep supporting his ass, he don’t do a damn thing for the black community!

  • afan

    MJ is looking mighty fine. As for the shoes, they will sell regardless of what some of you guys think or say.

  • afan

    As for those that think that only black people buy jordans, I suggest you take a look at the lines that form outside the stores. There are just as many Hispanic kids as there are black. Plus Jordans are international now. They are big in Asia and Europe.

  • DJfrom_ATL

    What the S***? $190 for a pair of shoes? He needs to be slapped for even asking that with the way the economy is. People are losing their homes and he sells a $190 shoe. Sorry, my sons will not be supporting Juanita and hers.

  • imoonah
