You are right. I am a hairstylist and a lot of my weave clients are white and hispanic. White women have troubled hair as well. They weave because their hair might be too thin, or won’t grow past 12 inches and they may want to have 18 inches in length. I have black clients who have long hair. A lot of black women who do have long hair still get accused of wearing a weave
My daughter has hair that is 14 inches, full, soft and full. I just blow dry and flat iron her hair. She has no chemicals , only a color to bring in some flavor. A lot of people think it is a weave, until she sets them straight. It gets really annoying sometimes.

I dont get how black women are so defensive about their hair….when in all reality all I see every day all day, is weave, wigs, and more.
Yes white women get extensions but that is mainly to make their hair exceptionally long, while it’s already nice in length to begin with. All I ever see is black women with fake pony tails, curly weaves, long straggely horse hair that they depend on to make them pretty.
It is not difficult at all to take care of your natural hair…a little time and money and effort to keep your locks naturally pretty…its not always about length, but quality.
What the hell does plastic mean? That term is starting to irritate my nerves. If someone choses to get a nose job, that is not installing plastic. The surgeon didn’t put in anything fake. He just gave it a new shape. Ignorance is bliss. Furthermore not one of you can bring forth a picture of before and after of Beyonce’s nose. The pics I saw of her as a teen look the same as now. She is a naturally pretty girl, without the make up or weave. It is sad how people try to cut her down with words to discredit her.
Pamela’s whole career was based off of her beauty and her ‘fantasy’ like physique…however…her time has p*****ed and when shes been known for her beauty for the last 20 years..its probably hard for her to realize she’s not so naturally pretty and she’s getting much older…

A lot of times some of these women do have real hair but they still get accused of wearing a weave just becasue they are black with long hair. You don’t see some of white people before they get their weave put in. Some hair is so thin you can see their scalp. Some of the women have hair that is shoulder length and won’t grow. Dont *****ume because they are white the have long flowing hair. That is a myth.
There are so many different textures in black hair. Don’t *****ume that all of them can go natural without a chemnical straightener. A number of black people have hair that is so thick and course their is no way to style other than dredlocks or braids. Even a straightening comb with the highest of heat won’t straighten that kind of hair. If you don’t know someone’s hair texture you can’t suggest that they are better off natural.
To Keshia- it is nothing new that Black women have long hair. The way you put is, sounds like your daughter is first gen. in your family with long hair.

So if the existence of black girls with long hair gives other black girls a license to wear weaves, than the existence of white girls who have big *****s, *****, and lips gives other white girls license to have those things too.

My hair is bout 12 inches in length. I don’t relax it. Just blow and flat iron and color. I wear rows every now and then when I want it longer. My daughter is not the first in the family to have long hair. I mentioned her because her hair is the longest, and gets the most questions whether or not it is a weave.
Beyonce is a pretty girl. Stop trying to belittle her. You sound very bitter and mean spirited. Beyonce didn’t get her lips of nose done and I’m through with it. Alicia keys got a nose job, and so did halle. None the less they are still stunning beauties. I give a woman credit when it is due. I don’t go searching for flaws to make myself feel better.

I know the way my hair texture is when it hasnt been processed. Clearly it is different from the weaves that I can buy from the Koreans. Pamela Anderson has hair texture that pretty much matches that of the weave she too can buy from the Koreans. Thats what makes it different.
When black females start wearing weaves that match the texture of their natural hair, then it will be the same when a white woman does it. Until then, I know rent-a-scalp when I see it.
People are accusing white women of having false *****es when they are real. You can’t win. I know a lot of white women who have nice toned behinds. It is not hard to achieve if you work out. White women have frizzy hair, curly hair or wavy hair textures, and they get what is called a european chemical straightener or they blow dry and flat iron to match the texture of the weave. The Asians are the only race of people who has straight hair that matches the weaves texture. you are wrong and you should stick to topics you kow about before you go attacking women.

Pamela Anderson was definitely a beautiful woman, I think she went wrong in having way too much surgery at a young age and now the effects of that are starting to show. Throw in the fact that she has an illness, Hepatitis C, and it’s taken a toll on her looks. She was fierce in her Baywatch days though.

Plastic as in atificial. Bleached blonde hair, which only occurs in young children and gets darker as they age looks pretty artifically on a middle aged white woman. It looks atrocious on a black woman. I am not judging those who get work done, or wear weaves, but I am tired of black females always talking about how everyone wants to look like them while they have some Asian ladies hair on their head.

I am a trained licensed stylist. I have been doing hair for over 15 years. I can look at anyones length of hair and know how many inches it is immediately. I can tell almost immediatley by sight whether or not it is natural, relaxed, or weaved. The black girls who get weaves have different textures as well. Some have co***** hair, some have relaxers, some have curly hair, some have wavy hair. Some have hair that they relax once every 6 months so that they can manage it. Everyone’s hair texture is different.

Thanks for the correction but what do you mean by frizzy hair? Please dont try to wiggle out of this one. Black females have to undergo drastic changes to their hair to achieve a synthesis with their weave. All some white women have to do is straighten it if it is curly or wavy. And lets be honest, there are far more white women that dont weave where than there are black women who wear their naturally.
I think white women have a greater appreciation for their natural hair than black women. Wouldnt you agree?

Lets establish some truths her before we continue. For the majority of black women, what is their hair texture naturally?
I mean you speak as if black females are born with relaxed hair. They arent. My point is that the vast majority of them have tightly coiled hair, some more tight or loose than others but still more or less the same. This is what really makes us distinct from other people, not our big *****es, lips, breast, and hips. So the one thing that actually makes us different from other women out there, we spend thousands of dollars a year trying to hide, disguise and click our heels three times and wish away.
Its really sad.

If a a dark complexion woman wants blonde hair there are blondes that can match her skin tone. There are dark blonde colors that are made for women of color. I’m not speaking about platinum blonde or yellow gold like a crayon. Blonde is not just for whites. Clairol texture and tones is a color line made exclusively for black women and they have nice shades of blonde that is suitable for dark skin tones.
I agree with Kigali that its blasphemous to talk about a black woman’s hair. Get over yourselves! If you would stop wearing the *****ed up weaves noone would have anything to say. They’re gross and stink…period. You can’t wash your hair properly with them in. Stay naturale! I’ve seen the wigs, weaves, the works. I’m not going to argue with buffoons. All black women don’t have the same textures. My mother had hair that was thin, and when wet reverted to an afro. Me and my sister have long hair, that is soft, and curly. My other sister has thin short hair that won’t grow.

I really pity black women like you and I kinda pity your daughter. I hate the fact that she will grow up learning that she isnt correct or pretty unless her hair is treated. The pyschological and emotional contoritions you have to go through in order to justify the imitation of women of other races must take its toll. I dont think weaves are very sanitary either. They are actually bad for the health and well being of black women physcially and pyschologically. Even worse is that it sends a very poisonous message to black men. Perhaps you will see the folly in your choices when black men get tired of the imitation hair so common to black females and go for the real thing that they can only find in non black women.

White women don’t have natural hair when they color it. White women don’t have natural hair when they have streaks, which is called frostin. White women don’t have natural hair when they have chemical straightening. Natural hair has no chemicals or color.

Thanks for bringing up how nasty weaves are. It was funny to hear black men talk about it when their girl friends who were honest, revealed to them how disgusting a weave actually is. With my natural hair, I can wash it 20 times a day. The shampoo/conditioner, and water can reach all the way down to my scalp. The air will reach my scalp as well and will not leave that disgusting smell of mildew when I dry to dry it.
My hair smells like Burts Bees lemon oil right now. Holla.

I said clearly that my daughters hair is 14 inches long with NO RELAXER. Her hair is curly, and very full. Her hair texture is somewhat like Alicia keys. I blow dry her hair straight and flat iron it. She has a streak of color in the front, to liven it up. I don’t have a relaxer as well. Don’t pity us, we are blessed.
My professional expertise is what brings me a lot of money and clientele. They rely on my experience to enhance their appearance to their satisfaction. We all have choices.
And yes you can wash your weave. Some people who wear their weave for months and don’t wash it are just nasty and don’t exercise the proper hygiene.

Please stop trying to argue that black women have so many variations to their hair. I can look at black men and tell that for the most part they dont. Someone can look at my brothers hair and tell what kind of hair I have. We came from the same gene pool. You keep talking about the exceptions but I am talking about the rule. I am talking about what is true for most black women and it is NOT long wavy relaxed fine curly colored blonde red finger-waved texturized hair.

IMHO I think that all the back and forth is much ado about nothing. I agree with Keisha the Hair Diva that it is very true that black women all have different textures of hair and different growth rates and that it is unfair to stereotype all of us based off a substantial amount of us. Getting a relaxer for black women is no different from white women who perm their hair to make it curly. Whatever. I also agree with Kigali with the fact that there are a nice amount of black women who ruin their hair by overprocessing it and severely damaging it just to obtain a look that could naturally be achieved if a little patience and self-love is exercised. I have shoulder length hair that is thick and beautiful and I relax my hair every so often for manageability and everyday easy styling. That is my prerogative just like many other women. But it becomes ridiculous when every black woman who does have long hair has to be scrutinized just to see if their hair is real or not. That speaks loud volumes when it comes to our women and the extremes we can go to to have a european look. I actually saw a three year old little girl with weave in her hair and that almost made me cry because it said that her mother must hate herself and what her little girl is going to become to risk damaging her hair at such a young age. I still think that it is unfair, though, to constantly make stereotypes towards black women and weaves because I know many black women who have naturally beautiful, thick, and long hair and can switch it up and cut it short but be confident that it will grow back. The bottom line is that we as black women need to learn how to TAKE CARE of our hair. Once that is established we will all be better off. Once I learned how to take care of my hair it started growing at rates like never before even without having to relax it. Let’s all get along on this Sunday afternoon!

All you do is wash the weave and scrub the scalp in between 3 times. sit under a odded dryer for 30 to 40 minutes and then blow dry the roots. No more advice or it will cost you.

As far as the hair debate goes. I’m a black female with long hair. I’ve always had long hair. All of my sisters have or have had long hair. Both of my parents are black. I get comments from time to time. Guys yelling “that’s not your hair!”. I get strange women black and white touching my hair from behind as if I wouldn’t feel it. It’s not rare for a black person to have long hair whether it be natural, pressed, or permed.
