How did she lose custody in the first place. is she an ex-pipe head?? if so and she’s recovered, we can’t just *****ume she’s full of sh*t. that’s not completely fair.

i’m more inclined to believe that Damon IS letting his son dj in clubs and hang out because the kid probably has way better chance (in the eyes of a man like Damon Dash) in the entertainment industry than he does with secondary (AND post secondary) education.

i think she should not have let him move back with his father until the semester was over. apparently she had a case if they went to court.

whatever the deal is, i hate when people don’t encourage their kids to go to school because they ‘won’t use it anyways if they want to be a rapper’.

i have way more respect for someone like Master P (who i think SUCKS as an artist) who made his kid go to college. not just some rinky dink state college, but the kid is at USC (go Trojans!).

I grew up in a situation similar to this with feuding parents (just more broke) so I can see this from different perspectives. Neither parent is completely in the right.

Jr lived with Dam since age 8. That means both parents were together until then or he WASN’T solely with Dame until then. Since he’s 17 he’s been with Dame about HALF his life. The “insider” makes it seem like Jr always lived solely with Dame. Biased…? The boy has been flip flopped any damn way, which is normal when parents are split up and both are in your life. Regardless of legal rights, since when is it wrong to respect a parent?

ANY missed school at all is BOTH parents fault …if the mom couldn’t control her son leaving, Dame still didn’t say “STAY in school at your moms UNTIL you can transfer”. Feuding parents are greedy with their kids. They are BOTH wrong. And most of December ISN’T vacation for students. That’s just kinda ridiculous.

And on the other side, of course a 17 year old would want to leave school and hang out in clubs with the parent who has more…if not more money, than at least more access and connections. He’s 17, he can get all this in a year. They BOTH should have put it into perspective to him. And to anyone who said they would have *****ed the son back from Dame, Dame probably stopped that with the quickness.

Damon should stop using this boy and treating him like he is a grown up. He has been out of school for well over a month and all Dame can think about is getting paid. He was always reckless in caring for his son. He had him in the clubs as an adolescent.

The mother can’t control the boy. She doesn’t have custody. He knows he can go back and forth and cause a stir between the two. If he doens’t like mom’s rules he can go to daddy and vice versa.

I am by no means a Dame Dash fan. Not even close. However, let’s put this in perspective. The boy was in school, but his mother just let him withdraw during the school term on December 2, 2008 (before the quarter ended) and go to live with his father. Now, this change was at the son’s request. Hmmm. She didn’t have enough control over the child to make sure that he finished the quarter, then move? I believe it’s a little difficult to enroll a child in school for about 10 days (if he was going to live with Dame on December 2nd, the Christmas break was approaching approximately 10+ days later). And, since there is obviously no communication between the adults, how soon before the son arrived was Dame alerted that he was coming? Enrolling a child in school ain’t that easy. Trust me, I know.

And, finally, isn’t she always dragging that man to court, even though she didn’t have legal custody? Give me a break lady. Think about your son.
