Lil' Wayne

Well, black folk, let’s all get ready to be embarrassed; Lil’ Wayne’s gonna be covering an ESPN event from the red carpet:

Although he is not set to perform, Lil Wayne’s presence will be known at the Next party, as he reports from the event’s red carpet for ESPNthemag.com.

The assignment is the latest in ESPN’s relationship with the New Orleans rapper, who serves as a blogger for the publication’s web site and frequently comments about sports on the 24-hour sports network.

Despite appearances from Jean and Lil Wayne, the hitmakers won’t be the only entertainers on hand for the NEXT Big Weekend. Singer Sean Kingston will perform at ESPN The Magazine’s Next Day Tailgate.

The event, which is sponsored by Ford’s F-150, and free to the public, will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on January 31 and include sets from the University of South Florida Marching Band and Tampa-based reggae band Impulse.

Working the red carpet for ESPNthemag.com is the latest achievement for Lil Wayne, who was nominated for eight Grammy Awards in December.

The recognition stemmed from the rapper’s work on his latest album, Tha Carter III.

Y’all, Lil’ Wayne doesn’t even speak English anymore. Make sure y’all don’t hang out with your white co-workers because after the third time they ask you to interpret what he said, you’re probably gonna slap the sh*t out of them and get fired. Damn it, Lil’ Wayne. SMH

A couple more pics of Wayne below.

Let’s just hope they have subtitles and closed captioning for some….

  • FearlessHyena

You know what, don’t be so quick to assume that he’ll look bad. I saw him on ESPN First Look and he was surprisingly articulate and knowledgeable about sports. I gained a new respect for dude that day. I hope he does well…

  • http://bossip.com Mahogany

    I feel ya Fearless.

I saw lil John doing a segment about his wine and he was well-spoken.

  • They call me…AJ

I’m pretty sure the man knows when to act a fool, and when he needs to talk right. Subtitles won’t be necessary…

  • http://myspace.com870bg bg

ESPN not gonna play that purple drank game with him so as long as he doesnt bring that he will be good. He’s into sports so it should go well. Phone Home!

  • BEAMERBUNNY504

regardless of how embarassing and how much english he does or does not speak he can sale out a show, just watch the ratings for that foolishness.

*I am music tour is the bizness*

  • I GOT IT LIKE THAT

this crackhead is having the best year, spilling over into the new year EVER- i wont hate. he need to work he got child support to pay

  • anitabonita

lol..thats going to be hands down the most confusing coverage evvvvvvvvvvver. good luck to them and who ever booked him prepair to recive your pink slip after the first segment.

  • H-town

ESPN AND LIL WAYNE? THAT’S THE MOST AZZ BACKWARDS COMBO I’VE EVER SEEN!! THAT’S LIKE GARY COLEMAN ON THE HARVARD DEBATE TEAM. OUTTA PLACE SH*T!! SMH.

  • JK

Will he even be sober for this event? Probably not I expect him to be there with his usually white styrofoam cup.

  • DADDY

    @JK

Do you honestly believe that ESPN would allow that sort of stupidity? C’mon now!

ESPN is a worldwide brand people, obviously if they are asking Wayne to do this then he has impressed some people who obviously don’t judge the book by its cover!

  • black

    @ FearlessHyena

I saw the same show, and I was actually surprised….LIL Wayne was very articulate and made some great points. Its strange Bossip is really starting to fall the hell off. I know its entertainment and all but at what point do you start to sound like the racist white blogs who just run off at the mouth about black folks, with out actually researching topics before they write about them

  • JK

    @ Black
    ___________
Big networks have been known to make mistakes. I hope that he does well, I just don’t expect that he will, based on previous behavior. And, if he can clean up his act for a predomintely owned white station on the red carpet, than why can’t he clean up his act for such shows as the BET Awards show which has young black kids watching this show that idolize him?

  • memchee

nigh, if he does something embarassing; espn will deserve all the flak they get from it.

  • NoneYoBiz

    Are you serious?
Lil Wayne is not an ignorant rapper. People are fooled by the “purp”. He is really intelligent. Wayne was an honor roll student in high school. He went to McMain Magnet which is a school you have to test for entry, they do not let the fools in. Why do you think he’s so successful, you can’t be a dumb rapper, it takes a little substance to come up with matieral. Bossip ya’ll are HATERS!

  • black

    @JK

I can understand what your saying, But I have actually met Lil wayne more than once, outside of the club and when the cameras are off, and he is a totally different person. I have read things on this blog and in the press that just seem to be totally for laughs and giggles that some seem to take for actual fact.

Its funny you wonder why lil Wayne cant seem to clear up his act for the BET awards because young Black Kids watching idolize him….and I wonder why some black gossip blogs cant seem to clean up their act because GROWN BLACK KIDS seem to take everything written as real news

  • JK

    @ Daddy
    _____________
You made a relevant point as it pertains to the two personas of Lil Wayne. I just wish that not only Lil Wayne but other black artists could clean up their acts for black awards shows as they do for predominately white shows. That blog that was posted a few weeks back with TI’s people fighting with another group of people, now you know that would have not went down at the Grammys.

  • http://Bossip Do it, Boy!!

Give the brotha a break…I’ve had a sneek-peak into what seems to be the real man and he appears to fairly intelligent and able to gauge what’s necessary in the right circumstance.
He’s one of America’s most favorites right now…I think he’ll do fine and bring a sense of energy to the Super Bowl that they haven’t seen in years.

  • DADDY

    @JK

Furthermore, why do they idolize him? Because he is Lil Wayne. So if you want him to have a permanently cleaned up image tell the parents to stop allowing the kids to watch him as Lil Wayne or listening to his music. Lil Wayne has a persona to maintain which is his day job. When he is with his daughter Rejinae do you think he is talking reckless and what not? Or when he is doing his charity foundation thing, do you honestly think that he is Lil Wayne the rockstar?

People are so naive to think that these stars actually live their life as the persona they portray. Im not saying that you are naive, JK. I was speaking in general.

  • Don’t mind me

    His sooooo unattractive

  • N.O.,LA. GURL

WELL I FOR ONE SAW HIS SHOW ON ESPN AND I THINK HE DID A WONDERFUL JOB LIKE OTHERS ABOVE STATED HE DID A VERY GOOD JOB HE DID NOT SOUND GHETTO AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO KNEW OF OF KNEW LIL WAYNE IN NEW ORLEANS KNOW FOR A FACT THAT HIS WAS A STRAIGHT A STUDENT THROUGH OUT HIS SCHOOL YEARS HE CHOSE TO DROP OUT BECAUSE OF HIS CAREER BUT TRUST DUDE IS VERY SMART MAYBE NOT T-PAIN SMART BUT SMART NUN THE LESS!!

  • Jaye

I watched him during a commentary on the MTV music awards last year and he was humble, funny, coherent and articulate.

  • I Am Here Your There

N.O. Stand up!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our boy is doing is thing!!!Lil Wayne is making his money and y’all haters on her are MAD!!!!! I don’t like sports at all and I flipped to ESPN and show the show. He was DAMN good. In life we all have to play a role and he plays what ever role is need at that time. The problem with must people is that they don’t know what roel to play and when to play it. That’s why all the stupid negative comments for a young black man who is making it in more places than one. ESPN would have never asked hin to resd for there sport page if her could not do it. That mag is rarely read by black people so he must be good. He’s doing there shows and now this. Give him what is due RESPECT he has earned it. But if you don’t his BANK ACCOUNT WILL!!!

  • dre from calu

Yall should take this back. I seen Lil Wayne on ESPN First Take last week, and to my suprise he did a great job. I love his music, hate him as a role model for our youth, but the guy showed some intelligence covered the tattoos (as much as possible) hair was decent as posisble, and pronunced every word no slurring or anything. I think he will do good, he knows his shit when it comes to sports.

  • BEAMERBUNNY504

WAYNE WILL DO GREAT, HIS LYRICS IN ITSELF SHOWS INTELLIGENCE WHETHER U AGREE WITH THE WORDS OR NOT.

  • http://www.k.com noelle

Wow, have you contacted Ralph about letting crackheads market his clothing like that??? Not a good look.

  • HOLLYGROVE ALL DAY

    WAYNE IS DA MANN…..

  • Encyclopedia Brown

“Well, black folk, let’s all get ready to be embarrassed; Lil’ Wayne’s gonna be covering an ESPN event from the red carpet”

Bossip.com embarrasses us everyday. They should have never gave you minstrels money.

  • posh

here bossip goes again with their triflin asses tearing their fellow black people down. instead of expecting the worst, why can’t yall be positive and think that lil wayne will represent in a good way? smh.

  • Lew the foo

whoa bossip dont be quick to judge he was on First and Ten on ESPN last week with Skip Bayless and he did just fine on there. he even was dressed semi casual and had on reading classes and looked like he had some since. maybe yall should google or youtube the clip before you assume he will be embarassing

  • Loving you is all I seem to do

Could anyone of you Haters name one RAPPER that is a role model?????????????? That’s what I thoought. That is not his job title. You should be your child’s role model and no matter what they see or hear would not matter because of what they are taught at home. IT starts at home. Do your job and these comments would not be necessary .Quoting NWA:
“DO I LOOK LIKE A MOTHER F**KING ROLE MODEL”..

But he is showing kids that thing that the rap game is all that there is more to life than just that.

  • luvutu

Don’t even have to read this story….heard it the othr day and still the same sentiments………”HOw dumb is that?! the white folks just need anothr reason to laugh at us black folks, terrible!!!!”

  • luvutu

@ Loving you is all I seem to do…..yeah and how to be high, f*cked up, dingy looking all at the same time, all the damn time……He ain’t doing all that to be a role model, he doing what it takes to keep the money flow’n in!!!!

  • ya’ll are stupid

I just saw lil wayne perform, and he can talk ENGLISH just fine. get off his back and quit hatin’ on a nigga. damn.

  • tita

Man yall people don’t know what yall talking about. He was on ESPN’s First Take and he did really good. Why black folks always have to put other black folks down? Really some of yall really need to stop drinking haterade and putting others down to feel good about yourself. It is sad.
