Fantasia All Smiles, Gets to Keep Mansion

Your sangin’ ass cousin on your real daddy’s side, Fantasia, is going to be able to keep her crib:
Fantasia Barrino is no longer facing foreclosure on her $1.3 million home, attorneys for the American Idol winner have announced.
An auction of the six bedroom, 6,232-square-foot mansion in Charlotte, North Carolina was scheduled to take place Monday — but the American Idol winner struck a deal with her Florida-based creditors to keep her home for now. She could still lose it at a future auction if a settlement is not reached.
“Assuming the promised payments all get paid as indicated, we will be satisfied,” Larry Goldman, the lawyer representing lender Broward Energy Partners, told the New York Post. “I didn’t want to take her house.”
The 24-year-old still owes $65,000 — money she borrowed in 2006 to pay back taxes to the IRS. Her last payment of $10,000 was made in August 2007.
Barrino has agreed to a repayment plan, but the creditor’s lawyer didn’t release details.
“Reading between the lines, I’m assuming the money is not there or, at least, it’s not there in the short-term,” Goldman told the Post. “My client just wants to be paid.”
This isn’t the first time the 2004 Idol champ has faced foreclosure. In 2005, she nearly lost a 4,500-square-foot home in the same neighborhood. plus a $240,000 Mercedes. Both matters were resolved in court, although tax records show she owes $14,678 for that residence.
That is fantastic news as we never want to see someone put out on the street. We sure hope she used her “Hooked on Phonics” skills to sound out the big words in the paperwork before she signed this time, though.

I am glad that things are working out for her. She was always my fav winner from American Idol, she has such talent. I had the great experience of seeing her in the Color Purple on stage and she was absoultetly wonderful. Congrats to her for keeping her house and trying to work the situation out.

Fact: The music industry is real tough right now. She better hope her next single/album is FIRE and her tour sells out, ‘cuz if not, she’s in deep trouble and will lose that home at some point.

Bless her heart!! I agree that Fantasia is a really talented singer but that’s where it ends. The majority of the time she looks a H.A.M. and anyone with good sense knows that the first thing you do when you are successful is BUY not finance a nice home, because you may not be able to afford it later. There are several middle cl***** singers and rappers. Everyone you see on tv is not wealthy! Being from NC I’ve got alot of love for Fantasia, but the entertainment industry is fickle, and her “keeping it real” style will keep her from making the type of money she’ll need to maintain a million dollar home. You can always telling when someone is living above there means, when they have a huge house with 3 pieces of furniture that look like they came from walmart.

I agree! Why don’t these entertainers buy their homes and cars instead of leasing or financing them. I live in Atlanta and for a good $mil, you can buy a nice home and car, with a lump sum left for retirement. Why didn’t she buy herself a nice $400,000 house and a $50,000 car and sit down!
