Girl Scouts Robbed In California For $460 By Skateboarder

Poor little Girl Scouts just trying to be little wholesome ladies and sell some cookies…

The Girl Scouts might consider changing its motto from “Be prepared” to “Be prepared to be robbed.” For the third time this week, a thief targeted Girl Scouts selling cookies outside of a supermarket. The latest incident took place Sunday in Phelan, Calif., where a suspect on a skateboard approached the stand set up outside of a Stater Bros. grocery store at approximately 6:50 p.m., grabbed a bag containing $500 and then ran off.

“My sister leaned down — put the money down for a second. He quickly grabbed the money,” Victoria, the Girl Scout who was working at the table, told KABC. The scout chased the suspect, but fell in the parking lot, scraping her legs and arms. Surveillance video showed the suspect to be a teenage boy wearing a blue beanie and a blue and gray striped shirt.

If apprehended and charged, he faces a fine of $1,000 and up to six months in jail. Last weekend, two separate Girl Scout tables in Tucson, Ariz.,were robbed in less than 24 hours. In the first incident, a woman snatched $400 in cash from a stand in front of a Fry’s grocery store in what appeared to be a premeditated crime.
