Did they make the right decision?

Rutgers Head Basketball Coach Fired For Abusing Players

Earlier today, we showed you the footage of Rutgers University head basketball coach Mike Rice going HAM on his players during practice. The video shows coach rice kicking his players, excessively belittling them verbally and even hitting them in the head with basketballs. Although Rice was already known as a hot-head throughout the NCAA, the Rutgers administrators says enough is enough.

Rutgers fired Mike Rice, the coach of its men’s basketball team, on Wednesday, a day after a video surfaced showing him berating his players during practices, throwing balls at them, kicking them and taunting them with slurs.

Rice’s termination comes nearly four months after the university’s athletic director, Tim Pernetti, suspended him for three games and fined him $50,000, with little elaboration. On Wednesday, Pernetti said that he erred in not taking stronger action and that he would “work to regain the trust of the Rutgers community.”

Rutgers announced Rice’s termination on its Twitter account Wednesday morning, saying, “Based upon recently revealed information and a review of previously discovered issues, Rutgers has terminated the contract of Mike Rice.”

Sports coaches are known for being hard on their players to get them to greatness, but most agree that this coach took it too far.

Do you think Rutgers made the right decision in firing coach Rice? If you haven’t seen the video, you can check it out HERE to help you decide.
