Looks like all of the Bossip promotion and Biggie controversy has paid off. Notorious is holding down the #4 spot right now:

With competition from movies like Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino” and comedy “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” the Biggie Smalls biopic still performed well during its opening weekend, grabbing the no. 4 spot at the box office. The film landed in theaters on Friday (January 16) and during the weekend raked in $21.5, proving to be more popular than expected beyond African American audiences, according to Chris Aronson, Senior VP at 20th Century Fox. “We crossed over, which speaks volumes about his impact as a cultural icon,” Aronson told the L.A. Times. “Notorious” tells the life and death story of the hip-hop legend Notorious B.I.G., as he rises to fame from the streets of Brooklyn to the rap royalty. At no. 1 was “Mall Cop” starring Kevin James, making $33.8 million. No. 2 was “Gran Torino” in its second week, taking $22.2 over this week, with a cumulative gross of $73.2 million. At no. 3 was the Lionsgate horror flick “My Bloody Valentine 3-D,” opening with $21.9 million. Rounding out the top 10 was “Slumdog Millionaire” with $5.9 million over the weekend.

We know you saw it, so what did you think of Notorious?

  • PrettyMissSunshine

I think it sucked. Sorry :-( Angela Bassets accent was going in and out, Derek Luke played a horrible puffy and I just wasn’t feeling it!!

  • Roe ski Love

Hell they should have broken all box office records, with the 2 million popups promoting the movie on this web site.

  • PURPPLE

    yeah, how was it?

  • Raquel26

    @PrettyMiss:

I agree with you on that. My cousin called me from Ohio and told me it was wack; to NOT waste my money.

Speaking of which….I need to catch a bootlegger. I am not paying $7.50 to see a wack movie.

  • PrettyMissSunshine

    @ Raquel26

Girl, $7.50? Where do you live? lol I paid almost $14 dollars to go see that horrible ass movie!!!

  • Ashley

I was so unimpressed. The story line was poorly written and it was about 40 mins to long. You can tell who wrote the movie, Puffy and Big’s Mom, too much emphasis on those two. It was like a puffy commerical, WHACK!!!!!

  • Lauren still Bleeds Green-Steelers SUCK

DID ANYONE SEE IT? DID YOU LIKE IT?

  • PrettyMissSunshine

    @ Lauren

HEEEEEEEY BOOOOO!!! LONG TIME SINCE THE LAST TIME I WAS ON HERE WITH YALL!!! HOW ARE THINGS AND HOWS THE BABY?!?!?

  • nik

i really heard it was all about PUFFY lol

  • Tracy

It was a good movie… we already know the story from the outside looking in and to get a different perspective is always interesting. Jamal Woolard did a great job portraying B.I.G. – he displayed his BIG personality! Angela Basset and Derek Luke – I also, give thumbs up… the movie was darn near a tear jerker if you have love for “Frank White” and especially if you have love for MuSiC!

  • Nicole

I LOVED IT!!! IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE! I DON’T KNOW WHAT SOME OF WERE EXPECTING BUT IT WAS AN AMAZING MOVIE. ONE I WILL BUY ON DVD AS SOON AS IT IS RELEASED. I THINK IT GAVE GREAT INSIGHT ON WHO BIGGIE REALLY WAS AND WHAT BAD BOY WAS ALL ABOUT. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS MOVIE DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE CLOWNS GO OUT AND SEE IT. IT’S A MOVIE WORTH SEEING!!

  • PrettyMissSunshine

Man, like i said and I’m entitled to my own opinion, just as some of these CLOWNS are. I didn’t like it, i thought it was WACK, point. blank. period. I could have waited for it to come out on dvd, and it was long as hell!!

  • Lisa

    @ Tracy

I agree with you completely on Jamal Woodard’s portrayal on B.I.G, he did a great job. Their was one scene were he looked exactly like B.I.G, that ish was crazy.

Angela Basset did an alright job, her accent was going in and out as PrettyMissSunshine said. Other than that it was a good movie. Everyone portrayed in the movie with the exception of Lil Kim had an active role it, they were on the set guiding the actors and telling them what went down. Is it just me or is Faith Evans contradictory, the movie says she got married to B.I.G within 3 weeks of meeting him, then she said in an interview, that she got married to him after 2 months, the movie can’t be lying because she had an active role in the movie also. I could go on about more stuff she has said but don’t have the time. Does anyone else notice this?

  • c from stl

I actually enjoyed this movie. Of course we all pretty much know the story but I thought it was put together very well. It’s pretty hard to put a man’s full life into two hours, but I thought they did well with what they had. I really liked Derek Luke’s portrayal as Puffy. I agree that Angela Bassett’s accent did kind of fade in and out. I also think that Lil’ Kim was portrayed pretty bad in the film, I can agree with her sentiment and I’m not even that much of a Lil’ Kim fan at all. Jamal Woodard did do a good job portraying Biggie. I enjoyed the movie and I definitely think it will have to go in the collection.

  • SassyGyrl

the movie was good, i feel like it gave a better insite to biggie’s life that we knew noting about. Great movie, cant wait for the DVD..

  • blkberry

Saw the movie it was ok but I love Biggie and his music can’t say that I have love for Puffy b/c I don’t. But when my friend and I went and said we want two tickets for NOTORIOUS they gave us two tickets for Bart Mall Cop. I question how many times this has happened. This really pissed me off b/c it seems like Notorious the movie is being shorted. Just my opinion…

  • Lauren still Bleeds Green-Steelers SUCK

    PRETTYMISS…

HEY GURL…Things r well thanks AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • Shinese

The Biggie movie was great, I am from Brooklyn, I know thjose neighorhoods were the movie was flimed, where Biggie grew up. I was 13 yrs old when biggie died, so I have a better understanding of that time, and what was happening. I took my cousin to see it he was only 4yrs when biggie died, but he still enjoyed ( the music more). The movie gave an accurate portroyal of who biggie was. Go be the Judge for yourself. All I know is that BROOKLYN STOOD UP. We always REPRESENT FOR OURS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • KC all day

    @ PrettyMissSunshine

Angela accent was going in and out because they did a voice over in the studio of Big real mom. The scene you are referring to was when she was on the phone with her son after Pac got shot and she and when the camera was on her she had her reg voice, but when the camera was on him she had the accent. They did the same thing to Puff voice when the camera wasn’t on That dude that played puff we heard the real puffy voice.

That dancing my Puff was spot on, mann and the other blogger who said don’t see the movie if you wasn’t in the biggie era, I agree I was 11yrs old when Big got shot in 97′ so I didn’t grow up with the notorious, and on top of that I was getting into Master P and NoLimit shit.

To anybody who want to know I saw the movie yesterday, as far if the movie was worth it another blogger put it best, the movie wasn’t’ “great” but it was “good” It was was slightly above aright, the movie was decent. In the movie.

  • Simun

I enjoyed it but a few things I didnt like, the kid playing lil cease, just awfull, this kid and is big ass mouth doesnt look like anybody yet he has now played 2 real life characters. One thing I want to point out and get some opinions, Naturi, is it just me or did they go abit overboard with the nude scenes, the part she is ridind biggie was porderline porn and they did 2 more scenes after that one, I mean don’t get me wrong she is hot and the more I see her naked the better but for this kind of movie it just sems like it was pushing it, thoghts?

  • tj

That is a VERY RESPECTFUL OPENING. Great news for black film making

  • tj

Also people whenever you go see an African American Film (assuming you are of age) make sure your ticket says that film on it!!!!

  • c from stl

    @Simun

I agree with you about the Lil’ Kim sex scene. It was off the chain! And definitely pornographic. I didn’t think they would take it that far….

  • KC all day

To add I was surprised to see alot of white people was in the theater to see the movie. Whenever there is racial epithet used in a movie I always get nervous when I’m in a theater with white people just to see what there reaction will be.

  • Toussaint Beaupre

You stupid Niggaz call this film Wack, and say that it sucked but you run yall dumb azzes up behind ttyler perry’s grabage movies every time they come out.. Brainwashed, Bamboozeled azz Niggaz, Go support this film, Its better tahn anything tyler has ever written or directed or ever will.

that said i thought it was aaaight.

  • KC all day

    @ Simun

Yeah that sex scene caught me off guard too, First we get introduced to BIG meeting KIM , they argue a little bit, he ask her out to lunch, next thing you know I see titties in the air flying, I still remember my reaction, Whoa!!!

But I thought Naturi did her thing playing KIM, Her rhymes were on point, and I wasn’t really a KIM fan. But she can spit.

  • Colonel Stink Meaner

I’m going to see it today. I wanted to save the back of people’s heads from the fury of my punch. Muhphukas talk too much on opening nights of movies.

  • Amaya

I love this movie. There was times when Angela Basset’s accent went in and out, but other then that it was great. The Kim scenes weren’t that bad. Damn yall act like yall never seen titties and ass. No, the movie didn’t surround Puff. It had me crying, especially at the end. In my experience, the people I’ve talked to and said the movie was wack, they really wasn’t fans of BIG. Just went b/c of the hype.

Also, the movie only opened in just over 1,000 movie theaters. Compared to other (white) movies that opened all over. I had to go to 3 different movie theaters, and the last one had to make 2 extra times b/c it was so many people.

  • c from stl

I know I came up during this era. I was in high school when both Pac and Bigge died. I’m not into this type of music now, but back then I bumped their stuff hard! This movie was enjoyable to me mostly because it brought back alot of memories and I relived alot of what was going on back then. I agree that Biggie’s lifestyle wasn’t that much to be desired, but it is definitely a huge part of Hip Hop history.

  • KC all day

    wow

  • Tiffany

I thought it was just ok…it only tells half a story, theres obviously another half

but everyone did a great job playing their characters… although they made Tupac look like the monster of all monsters

I cosign 100% My husband and I left the theater saying the same thing. They were all VERY young and you can’t just throw all that money and power to young men who haven’t had the best direction and haven’t really lived that long. Puffy is the only one who was smart throughout most of his career and he’s still got long paper. No matter what projects of his may fail he will be set for life. I worked with a man that went to Howard University with Puffy and I heard that Puff used to sit in the student union all day (hardly went to class) and would talk bullsh1t to everyone about how he was going to be extremely rich one day and that he really didn’t need school….lol. It looks like he predicted his future pretty well :)

  • The Hidden Truth

    @ blkberry

That’s nothing when me and my wife went in suburban Austintown, in Ohio Notorious wasn’t even listed in the movie list as you ride by. When we looked it up online @ that same complex it was there! I couldn’t understand it, it’s not like the movie was Roots 2. So when we pull up in the parking lotit’s still not listed but the movie poster is up and im like what is this ISH! my wife said they didnt want THE CROWD (our people). Given what happened in NYC and ATL I kinda see her point.

Sometimes we’re our own worst enemies! about the movie the only part I didnt like was when Puff told Big he got a deal from Clive Davis for 45 milli and he was ONLY giving Big 5 milli! My mouth dropped like Big was Bad Boy @ that time Im like @ least give him 10 to 12 milli. It just showed me that Puff was greedy then and he still is!!

  • trs

    @ Simun or KC

Is this scene (Big and Kim) a very long scene? I ask because I wanted to see the movie but I heard about all of the love scenes (which I think are unnecessary in order to do a quality epic on Big’s life). I was a bit turned off…..

  • c from stl

    @trs

The scenes were not long but the first one was a little much because of how they did the sequence of scenes. One second you see Biggie asking Kim out to get something to eat and they’re standing on the street looking at each other. Then all of a sudden the very next second they go to a scene where she is violently riding him with full frontal nudity. But they are not long scenes at all.

  • trs

    @ C from stl

Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it! How many scenes are there?

  • ECOUTTADAQC

like i’ve said before, i wont be giving my hard earned 10.50 to go see this movie! its not that i wasnt feeln B.I.G, i was also in HS during the height of his career and his unfortunate murder, so hiphop was (and in some ways still is) the soundtrack to my life! BUT since i knew that puffy was very heavy handed in this production i figured he’d glorify himself a lil too much when we ALL know that B.I.G’s career is what help launch him into the entertainment stratosphere (now granted, puff is a talent in his own right) AND then when KIM voiced her opposition to the movie i kinda knew it wouldnt be a fair portrayal!

i also wasnt feeln the cast of characters! i mean naturi, God bless, just couldnt pull off KIM, she doesnt have that BK cockiness/swag that Kim has. oh, and i absolutely LOVE the infallible angela bassett but she’s just too polished to pull off a poor, single-mother, whose was a jamaican immigrant… as much as i wanna support black films, i didnt feel bad at all about spending my dollars on benjamin button instead, which incidently was STUPENDOUS!

maybe i’ll wait for the bootleg or if it goes to the $1 movie theater :)

  • c from stl

    @trs

There were about three scenes with nudity. Most of it was titties bouncing everywhere. There was one actual sex scene.

  • http://myspace.com/toolive4urcrew Katherine

@Lisa, Faith said in some interview that the movie got that particular part of her and Big’s relationship wrong..I don’t know why it wasnt corrected..maybe it seem like their connection was more instant if they cut out a few weeks idk

  • GoodKarma4me

I thought the movie was pretty good. Of course the movie was based on the views of Biggie’s mom. She wanted to tell the world her son;s story and his untimely death. I thought the actors all did a good job, well Diddy’s character was annoying, but then again so is he in real life.
So yeah, hands down a good film.

  • trs

    @ C from stl

Thank you for the info! I guess I will go see it BUT I must say that it bothers me that a.l.m.o.s.t every time that a significant Black project comes out, it is saturated with sex or nudity! It’s as if some directors and producers think that they need to fill a movie with sex and/or violence in order to relate to Black people or draw Black audiences to the theatres!

  • finaly17nluvinit

i thought it would do better with all the hype around it—-i love biggie2death, but im sorry that movie was just so wack.it was SO cliche…..it had me laughin(which i dont think it was asuppose2all the time)….it was just all around corny 2me….n the way they did kim???the naturi girl: sold herself short!!! she was pretty established with 3lw—they shuldve let sum random video chick do that role!!! the gravy guy sounded half way retarded throughout the whole movie, and couldnt act 4 squat!!!! i was really dissapointed in the movie overall!!

  • c from stl

    @trs

I agree with you. It’s already understood that the hip hop life can be oversexed and alot of the young artists out here are constantly into that lifestyle, but it does seem to take away from the artistic ability of the film when all that is shown. Take ‘Ray’ for example, we could tell from the scenes that he was a ladies man and had many affairs, but they didn’t show all kinds of nude and borderline pornagraphic scenes to get their point across. I guess that’s not the portrayal they wanted in NOTORIOUS especially when you’re talking about Lil’ Kim who is a walking sex pot.

  • trs

How good is Derek Luke as Diddy? Does he do that awful “Take That Take That Take That?”

  • trs

    @ C from stl

    Well said!!

    *Applause*

Now I see why Lil Kim had issues with how she was portrayed in the movie. I guess she wanted them so depict more of a “love thang” vs. a “sex thang.” What do your thoughts about that?

  • trs

I meant to say what “ARE” your thoughts on that! Excuse the typo please! :)

  • KC all day

    @ Trs

LOL I don’t think Luke did any “take that take that” but he did do that little dance puff did back in the day, where he bends over and starts rocking his arms, when he did it, they had a bad camera angle and it looked goofy ass hell.

To be honest, I just ummm the movie although the actors were good they just didn’t nail it. Especially the young kid playing lil cease wtf????
The movie was just lacking that special ingredient to make it special, but it was cool for what is was worth.

  • c from stl

    @trs

Unlike alot of the other people posting comments I actually liked Derek Luke’s portrayal of Diddy. He was very boisterous, loud, bossy, etc. Just like Diddy. He danced like him and had his overall persona down to a ‘T’. I am honestly not a Lil’ Kim fan, but I do think that they gave her the sh1t end of the stick in the way she was portrayed. I still think that she was a jump-off, but I also think she was a larger part of Biggie’s life than what they showed. They portrayed her as a chick who was a total slut, only good for sex, did everything Biggie told her to do like he was her daddy, who just so happened to be able to rap. It was a little extreme, but hey, it wasn’t taken from her perspective. This makes me think that everyone involved in this movie saw her as exactly how she was portrayed.

  • Adrienne

I thought it was a great movie, not one dull moment. Angela’s voice did go in and out. The ending brung back said memories. At least he turned into a man before his untimly death. RIP to Biggie.

  • c from stl

    @KC all day

Yeah, the kid they had playing Lil’ Cease was unbelievable. That’s the same little boy that played in ‘Losing Isaiah’….lmao! I was disguested when he took his shirt off onstage with his little short compacted body. And I don’t even want to begin to talk about his grill…yikes!

  • Adrienne

    typos- sad and untimely.

  • KC all day

    @ TRS

As far as Lil Kim, you can’t help what you are, she lived her lyrics. I know she loved biggie, and he loved her to, but I’m assuming in a different way, I say this because he got with Faith and married her.

I’m all about a woman being free and making her paper, however she does it. (ye with out sin cast the first stone) but a spade is a spade she raps about giving that dome and whatever else, then want to act “brand new” when she is portrayed that way. Change starts within yourself, so she has herself to blame.

  • trs

    @ KC all day

I love Derek Luke, and that is why I asked about that. I laugh everytime I envision Puffy doing that awful dance talking about “Take that! Take That! Take that!” Too funny.

You are right about Kim: she has her own self to blame for the way that she was portrayed!

  • KC all day

    @ c from stl

I knew that boy looked familiar, damn he went from crack baby to playing lil cease. hump!

Don’t even get me started on lil dude cheafing throughout most his scene-granted he had funny moments but I just didn’t get that essence of lil cease. He reminded of someone annoying lil brother not someone who made history as a member of Junior Mafia, crush on You is my fav. joint to date.

  • trs

    @ c from stl

Again, you are right on point. I feel that everyone involved, from Big’s mom all the way down to Faith, can’t have that high of an opinion of Kim. Not as a rapper, but AS A WOMAN. Big WAS married, and Kim tries to act like she is unaware of this fact like she was the wife instead of Faith. IMO she shouldn’t complain. She was depicted as a loose jump off that is exactly what she was…..

  • trs

I heard that the guy who did Tupac was really bad!

  • c from stl

    @KC all day

Yeah, he did come off as the lil dude that never got any play but now he’s a part of this big east coast movement so now he’s important….lol. I also heard that after Biggie died Lil’ Kim was taking care of him and his family for a pretty long time and that she almost went broke doing that. That’s another thing about this movie that hit me is that it showed how alot of our people look to one of us to make it and that means that everybody makes it. I feel like instead of leaching off everybody that is bustin’ their azz to make it, you should work just as hard if not harder to come into your own. That’s why alot of that stuff popped off in both Biggie and Pac circles because everybody is getting gassed up by the next man and always ready to fight, then comes the green eyed monster of jealousy, then comes some tragic ending that none of us wants. smh

  • c from stl

    @trs

The guy who played Tupac did ok. IMO it’s really hard to play Pac because he was a very complex and volatile person. But this movie definitely made Tupac seem like a paranoid sociopath and made Death Row look like a bunch of mad bullies…lol, I can’t say I disagree with the mad bullies part.

  • trs

    @ C from stl

I agree with you about Death Row!! IMO, Suge Knight is a low down piece of ****. I still say that he m.a.y have been associated with Tupac’s death. They guy who played Tupac had HUGE shoes to fill, so I can understand if he was a bit lacking.

You have convinced me c from stl! I just bought my tickets to see this movie tonight. I will admit to being very intrigued by what you have said….

  • c from stl

    @trs

lol, have a good time! My husband and I enjoyed just reminiscing about those times and remembering what we were doing when all of that was happening. Don’t expect a masterpiece, but it was an entertaining good film :)

  • ECOUTTADAQC

i dont think she (KIM) was acting “brand new” about how she was portrayed, but comeon, you just can’t compartmentalize a person by just deferring to them as a jump off! i’m sure that on a lot of levels she was that but even jump offs have some depth to their characters! and lets face it, B.I.G aside from being the artist was a man first and he got with this woman, made her the bonnie to his clyde, basically wrote all the material for “Hardcore”, impregnated her and talked her into aborting it, married Faith while they were dealing with each other and she clearly was sooo in love with him. THEN essentially cheated on her again (as well as faith) with C. Baltimore. i mean with RAY they had decades of this man’s life condensed into 2.5 hours of film and it was a glorious portrayal b/c egos werent involved and agendas set aside. C. Wallace only lived 2.5 decades…. i’m sure there couldve been more depth to the characters. i didnt even SEE the movie and i KNOW it was shallow and superficial.

  • trs

Thanks C from Stl! That’s what I plan on doing tonight!

  • KC all day

@ ECOUTTADAQC and c from stl

I totally agree with you, I said the beginning, the movie was good, but it was just missing that special ingredient to make it great. To be honest the money had corny moments in it, from voice overs, to lil dude playing lil cease, and bad camera angles that made the movie look awkard and cheap. But with that said I took it from what is is worth. The move was cool, but it could have been better.

As far as covering the depth of characters the movie was 2 hrs long. This was about BIG not LIL Kim, if Miss Jonesie want to rebuff her character in he own bio pic then do so. You can’t expect everybody to be portrayed perfectly in a movie that was already 2hrs long. What I think the producers were trying to get at was the essence of KIM which is sex, come on you can’t tell me a woman who is mostly know for wearing next to nothing got portrayed wrong???

  • KC all day

    Jump off:

    1. a casual sexual partner
    2. a person of dubious sexual practices
    3. a person that is usually only being used for sex while in marriage or serious relationship; The chick (or man) on the side.

Kim WAS just a jump off! If Big wanted that for real, he would have divorced Faith and wifed Kim up.

  • KC all day

I wanted to address what a blogger said earlier about BIG getting 5 million when Puff was get 45 million. When I heard this my mouth dropped opened too. Given that Puff was co-producer of this bio pic it has to be some reasonable explanation for this. Cause puff can’t be that dumb??? Although BIG was BAD BOY at that time, puff had other artist, Faith, Mack, Mary etc. And since he was the CEO he had to take a larger chunk.

  • KC all day

Basically that 45 million went to his other artist ass well. So that should explaining BIG getting that 5 million. Also BIG would have made more money touring and owning his masters and stuff. But I’m not saying Puff ain’t greedy cause I heard how he treated 112 and other BAD BOY artist.

  • c from stl

    @KC all day

I agree with you on that. Kim was just Biggie’s good time girl. My husband was disappointed in Pac’s character and I had to remind him that the movie was about Biggie and Biggie only. It’s really hard to depict the massive number of people in his life in a perfect way. But, the goal was accomplished in his depiction.

  • KC all day

    @ C from stl

With that said this movie would have been better as a 5 hr mini series. That way every one could be portrayed better Maybe BOX OFFICE just wasn’t the best route.

Kinda of like that Jackson 5 movie or the Temptations joint. lol

  • ECOUTTADAQC

comeon, you cant say that she was a jump-off in the clearest/truest sense of the word! it just bothers me when ppl act so holier than thou and cant even for a second step into someone elses shoes and explore the full gammit (sp) of the person. i’m not tryna come off as a KIM cheerleader and YEAH the movie WAS about BIG and not KIM but she WAS an INTEGRAL part of this mans life/career. there is no denying that! and to just reduce her to sexual object is less than fair. AND I’M STILL NOT SPENDING MY MONEY ON THIS! not b/c of the portrayal of KIM but like i said, i think that PUFF’s ego was all & up & through this move and i just have expectations when i spend my hard-earned (and i DO mean, hard-earned) cash!

    but just to be clear…

    Jump off:

    1. a casual sexual partner the relationship wasnt THAT casual when she was holding him down in PUBLIC as well as in PRIVATE, jump offs usually dont see the light of day in tow with their bed buddy
    2. a person of dubious sexual practices how do you really know WHAT her sex practices were/are??
    3. a person that is usually only being used for sex while in marriage or serious relationship; The chick (or man) on the side. she couldnt have been used for sex b/c he has publicly stated that he loved KIM, it was just a different kind of love

i think she didnt value herself enough to say, look, i’m better than this, but that’s just being young, dumb, and in love!

    ta-dow

  • c from stl

    @KC all day

You have a very good point. It may have definitely come off better as an HBO special or something like that. They could have spent alot more time developing each character and people would be able to appreciate it better. This 2 hr movie at the box office definitely had alot of holes in it.

Okay I am not saying kim ain’t do good things she took care of Ms. Wallace when she didn’t have to. But that was after he died and BIG blew her up. Yeah she loved BIG and I’m sure she did other things that we aren’t privy to know… Granted!

But you keep speaking of her being an this major figure in his life. What did she do? Cause I’m missing it. Did she sign him to BAD BOY or did her put her own? Did she pay for studio time and PR?
To me it comes off as BIG being a bigger part of her world then he was in hers. Honestly I don’t really see all this INTEGRAL stuff you talking about as far as KIM. INTEGRAL would have to go to MRS. Wallace a single mother and Puff who put him on and made his dreams a reality.

  • KC all day

BIG was a bigger part of KIM world then she was was in his. Point Blank.

No one is denying that she loved big but that is how I see it.

  • ROcky

I don’t know why Kim was all fired up. I think her potrayl in the movie wasn’t that bad and probably was what actually went down. They showed her as a woman who feel in love with a man that didn’t have the same level of feelings for her. At the end of the movie though they showed BIG calling Kim and saying they was going to work out their relationship. It was a case of a man not knowing what he has until it was too late.

  • ?

I liked it…my nerd cuz’s eyes were all teared up. They had 5-0 just outside..sad that the stereotype is still there. I don’t see why Kim is upset, girlfriend did a fab job (maybe cuz they use a darker skinned female..stop bleaching not good for the skin). Hell Faith should be mad all female that get treated like a bitch should be mad..but it is what it was. Even the end he apologized and promised to step up his game..she just wants to be in the media a little more. I will get it on DVD for sure…support and there will be more. And you know Puffy was extra from time as Suge said all up in the video and tracks, so the movie why not?

  • KC all day

    @ECOUTTADAQC

I’m not saying that BIG didn’t lead KIM on, just him being a man, I know he lead her on. I’m sure he told her one thing and told everyone else another thing.
But her being his life savior I just didn’t see it.

  • trs

    @ Ecouttadaqc

For the record, I am not “acting holier than thou.” I have high standards for myself, which do NOT include sleeping with married men. If Kim had these same standards, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. If that’s how you get down, what can I say? Do you.

You are probably one of the few people who would defend an adulterous affair…which is exactly what it was. A jump off can “hold down” anyone in public. So what? It doesn’t make them any less of a jump off. No, I don’t personally know of her sex practices, but her music and public persona speaks for itself. And yes, Kim WAS used for sex and I think that you’re kidding yourself by thinking otherwise. Was she Big’s wife? Nope! Did he ever openly call her his “girlfriend, woman, lover etc.?” Nope. What does that leave?

    A jump off!

Like I said before, if it was that serious for Big, he would have divorced his wife and grant Kim the same respect he granted Faith by marrying her. He kept Kim on the side because that is what she was good for: being a jump off.

Just because a n**** claims to “love you” doesn’t mean that you aren’t a jump off. That’s the oldest lie in the book and some men use it often. “Yeah Kim I love you but it’s a “different kind of love”…you know, the kind of love where I can hit at my convenience, yet never wife you up.”

    Please.

Clearly you and I aren’t on the same page about Kim so there is no need to debate it. Yeah, Kim was young, dumb, and in love. She had to be to remain his jump off for as long as she did.

    Ta-dow

  • Que?

Movie was horrible. Thats just my opinion.

Lmfao @ Bossip’s comment “Looks like all of the Bossip promotion and Biggie controversy has paid off.”
You guys really are idiots, huh?

  • KC all day

Like someone else said I didn’t think KIM portrayal was that bad cause that is probably what went down. And Faith need to be thankful too cause home girl was not that skinny, nor was biggie. LOL

  • ?

Even in his 1st album he bigs up Mom Dukes and Faith Evan Wallace then waaaaaay down the line he bigs up his other baby momma Jan theeeeen “Lieutenant Lil Kim” so its there is Black and white from time. I see why she started bleaching now, she thought light skinned chicks can get a ring on it.

  • You Smell Me?

See? the people that said this movie was wack, is wack.

Now, the movie wasn’t off the chain but it was good. Good enough to get on DVD. Gravy (aka Wallard, you know the dude who got shot in the butt @ HOT 97?) Did a GREAT job of the portrayal of BIGGIE. And if he did a GREAT portrayal of the movie, how could you not like it? Its about him.

Although the film was a little disconnected, but non the less good. See it for yourself. Shit people in NYC clapped when the film ended….

  • trs

    @ ?

“I see why she started bleaching now, she thought light skinned chicks can get a ring on it.”

    LMAO!

  • You Smell Me?

Also another problem is that most people know BIGs story, but they want to hear each characters side, within his story. You have to look at this with a blind eye, as if you didnt know what went down, and how it went down. People want to hear Kims side, Faiths side, but in reality, its about BIG, not those two.

  • The Hidden Truth

I agree Bossip needs to get OVER itself period, like this was the only site that promoted this flick!

One minute when a brother or sista does good Bossip praises, then when someone shows that no one’s is perfect bossip is all over it like a kkklansman!

One must ask Bossip who’s side are YOU REALLY ON?!?
One minute it’s Black Power, when blacks slip up then you start kicking them when they’re down you might as well say White Power!

For now on Bossip when a brotha is down and gets back up keep the props to your self after you were just bashing! Hate or Support choose one!!

  • vj

Thats what Im talking about! Support black actors and directors!

I glad to hear great things about the movie. I was hoping to get to see it on opening day but due to some dickhead deciding to shut someone in the theater causing a 700 people evacuation I was unable to see it that night.

Oh & to correct a typo I meant “shoot” someone

In response to Puff only giving 5 million to big when he got 45 million…Sounds fair to me! Puff had a lot of artist at that time. Faith, LOX, 112, Mase, Total, Black Rob, Craig Mack all had to eat too. And they were all in the studio at the same time eating into that 45 mil. He had to do photo shoots and promotion for all of them as well. I figure half of that 45 mil went right back in to BAD BOY, 5 to big, Puff prolly took 10 and whatever was left over was split between the other artist.

Honestly, I was not expecting much at all from this movie and until all the promoting, I was not going to see it. I went and the movie was absolutely awesome. Angela Basset should have sit this one out if she couldn’t get the accent but other than that, the actors really went to lengths to do some incredible acting. It was just a great movie!

  • kirby

    got the bootleg

  • confused

I don’t know why anyone (other than teenage boys) would waste their money to go see this movie. Biggie hasn’t done anything for me. He isn’t an inspiration to me. He’s just another young black man who died a violent death at a young age.

I’m not sure why we as black people insist on making him into some kind of Black Hero.

  • woe

I will wait for the bootleg maybe if it was a pac movie, id pay. As for lil kim she choose not to give her imput so her depiction was based on how everyone around her perceived her relationship to Big. Lil kim had the opportunity to contribute her point of view but chose not so she’s the only one to blame if the depiction is unfair

  • woe

    @confused

    I concur

  • nesha

yo did any one of ya’ll hear about the artist from bad boy mark curry book i heard it’s supose to be better than the movie.

  • YaddaYadda

I thought it was a good movie. Faith should have been a fat broad, cause we ALL know faith was a big girl back then, i don’t remember her being that small back in the day. Biggie’s mom has a VERY strong jamaican accent, so they should have gotten someone with a real authentic accent. but i still give props to Basset… Suge Knight was way smoother than that when he was hating at the awards, he wasn’t barking at the crowd like it was portrayed in the film. they didn’t have to dog little kim that hard in the film… over all i thought it was good… B.I.G greatest rapper of all time!

  • sepia830

At least there won’t be a sequel. And really, if you’re not #1, what does it matter?

I’m just glad not to have to endure that stupid pop-up every time I sign on to Bossip. It was very annoying.

  • ZB Nupe

I went to see the movie Saturday around five (even though they had the bootleg in the shop by 2pm) and again Sunday morning after church. The first time I guess I was kinda of excited about the fact that we had our first hip-hop movie with a decent budget and advertised properly. When I left Saturdy I felt cheated because they made the most important character to be Diddy (in my opinion). I spoke with a couple of more people from the East Coast (BK/DC) and they had all of these different kind of views. After seeing it a second time I viewed the movie to be very fictionalized….. Pac’s character was disrepected to the fullest so was BIG’s. I believe in my heart of hearts that both BIG and Tupac saw Diddy and Suge for who they really were and both had plans on leaving or branching out finally reaping the benifits of their talent, hard work. Lil Kim character was what it was. I think he cared for her but she showed her cards too early.

Also, they left out key characters in the movie:

Method Man (only guest appearance on BIG’s first album and supposely he felt Meth out rapped him)

Jay-Z (co-signed Jigga into the Music biz)

Even though I didn’t become a BIG fan until after the release of his LAD album, I can honestly say he made some nice grooves and that you couldn’t deny his FLOW!!!!!

  • Pam

it was a good movie IMO…better than what i expected

  • Jess

I thought the movie was ok. All around the actors and actresses did a nice job. However I will say that one minute Angela Bassett would have an accent and the next minute it would be gone. I can’t believe they wouldn’t re-do those scenes. Kind of makes me think that they didn’t take the time to do the movie right. I think the young lady that played Faith did a nice job.. I also think Derek Luke (with his sexy self) did a nice job as Puffy. The guy that played Biggie did a nice job as well. I kind of wish they would have went a little more in depth than they did. You could tell everything was squeezed in. As I said overall a nice film.

  • Jess

Oh and back in the day Faith was not fat. If you look back she was thin back then.

  • http://myonlineswag.com kyrptic

didnt see it. it was sold out everywhere

  • who_pooted?

I saw the movie online(yeah P shiddy ain’t gettin one red cent from me). I thought it was alrite. I got to learn he was a lieng, cheating, misogonistic thug who did not respect women nor take care of his children. Someone please tell me his great contribution to society besides a few good rap songs(about drugs, sex and violence), please. Remind me why we needed a movie about this man. I also did not like the way Pac was portayed nor the actor who portrayed him. And Jess Faith was never skinny, she was thick(One more Chance video) and just got thicker and thicker as time went on(until she got on that “stuff”)

  • MILLHOUSE

puffy is not gonna make himself look bad in this movie… especially when he’s the one makin it… we need a movie done about Big from someone who has no attachment to him at all… Someone who can be impartial…. this biopic was really one sided… and thats puffy’s side

  • http://yahoo SINSANDI

I pretty much knew that 2pac was gonna get played in this movie, that’s why i didn’t watch it, but that’s how the cookie crumbles, when you can’t speak for urself people r pretty much gona do it 4 u…BIG had a crazy flow, but other than that…he did nothing with his lyrics, was all about swag, money, hoes and drugs…

  • Good

Well in an interview Kim said BIG was like her father, told her when to go to sleep, when to wake up, what to do. She said herself that he flipped out and beat her. This was a while ago around the time when he first was killed, maybe a few years after. They asked Faith if he had ever been abusive to her and she said no, her story isn’t Kim’s story and that he wasn’t like that to her. So if Kim herself admitted to this then why is she mad about how she was portrayed? She did do everything he told her to, and broke him off on a regular.

  • crazyfromtheheat

did yall see this yet? i thought it was AMAZING!! i already seen it twice

  • newyorkmama

i agree. i thought it was incredible!!

  • Canitha S.

This movie was really good!!! Is it just me or was BIG a womanizer? May he rest in peace but he treated Lil’ Kim TERRIBLE!!! Did ya’ll hear that Kim is suppose to suing the producers of the movie and Violetta Wallace for defimation of chacter? He treated Faith bad too!!! I see why she wrote all those songs on her 1st CD. Her 1st CD was based on their relationship and that CD was the bomb too. I wonder why Charli Baltimore wasn’t in the movie?? He slept with her too. Everything that took place in the Faith Evan’s tell all book, took place in the movie. I wonder if the Lil’ Kim and BIG relationship was true? Why did she let him treat her like that??? For the record, I don’t recomend children seeing this movie. When they did a quick scene to Kim on top of BIG, I thought I was watching a porno!!

  • Its6amHoGetOut (I’m typing before my stalker/impersonator gets on here so it’ll be my only post for today.

I saw the movie and since I’m the most important and smartest man on Bossip I’ll give my opinion:

The dude that played Biggie was really good, there were a few times I thought I was looking at Biggie playing himself.

If lil Kim was as cute as that lil girl (with the perfect titties) who played her (Naturi) Biggie probably woulda chose her ass over Faith.

Angela Bassett took that role for a paycheck not for artistic purposes, you could tell, shes a much better actress then portrayed here.

Dude who played Puffy did the best he could portraying one of the original architects of the “downfall of hip hop”. Everybody knows the only people Puffy ever gave $5 million dollars are his attorneys for that gun sh*t and a bunch of P.R. people in New York to keep his name in the papers and on billboards.

So overall my rating for NOTORIOUS is an B, it was told from one persons point of view, maybe Tupacs mother can produce a movie about his life now with their point of view. And to that person who bought the Biggie tickets and got MALL COP you shouldve asked for the manager and made him change that sh*t right then and there. We watched a lil of that movie while waiting for ours and that was some dumb sh*t, almost as dumb as a deep south rap album.

Love 6am, the only opinion that really matters.

  • Its6amHoGetOut (I’m typing before my stalker/impersonator gets on here so it’ll be my only post for today.

Its looked like a porno, but damn that lil girl has some nice titties!

Bossip had nothing to do with me seeing this movie…sorry bossip. I’ve been waiting for the past three years to see Biggie and Pac come to life. I loved the MOVIE and I feel every character embraced their roles with the spirit of the individual who they were portraying. Biggie’s son Christopher played his dad when he was a young boy and he didn’t disappoint either. I’m glad that it finally came to life and I hope to see Mrs. Shakur side of the tale of hip hop royalty.

It was better than I thought it was going to be.. It was almost a tear jerker if you was a biggie fan and love music.. I almost was in tears cause im a big fan of PAC!! But truth of the matter him n biggie was on top, and we miss both of them dearly.. I think Lil Kim role should have had a lil morre respect and lil more attention… She held the role pretty good though..

  • uniqueoneboo

I really enjoy the movie. I saw it twice. I think it gave a great look into his life that we didn’t know. I think those who didn’t like the movie were either not biggie fans or really didn’t understand what his mother was trying to say. I took my kids who were very excited to see the story of someone they only heard through music or what they heard in the streets. I think they did a great job. and also, I think those numbers are off. This is the time we live in that a movie like mall cops would even be #1. That was the dumbest movie I ever seen. And I saw it for free on Black market. i Would never spend money on bs.

  • http://Bossip Hot Saucy

That move was so damn corny! LMAO!!! And yes Angela Bassett did not do a good job as his mother. Her accent was a mess! Lil Cease (Losinf Isaiah) looked like he was 12 and Puffy ( Antwan Fisher) was a st8 up clizzown

  • http://Bossip Hot Saucy

Although Puffy was a clown in the movie he played that man very well

  • The last dayz

I thought the movie was good. I mean it was based on this man’s life so you can’t make up events to entertain critics in a biography. I am a music fan so I appreciated it and it brought back memories of good times that I had during those years. I would love to see a movie based on Tupac, I read a book about his and his life was like a movie. I was and still am a huge fan of both. DAMN U SUGE KNIGHT!!!!

  • NotoriousFlorida

This movie was amazing! Jamal killed it, he played BIG so good it gave me chills the whole time, and Derek did great too. If your a die hard Biggie fan like me or just a hip hop fan in general go see this movie! Trust me you’ll love it!
