the only difference is that the white community doesnt hold these gangsters up as heros. you dont see lil white kids and grown ass white men running around trying to be like the characters in those movies. these gangsters are role models to so many of our children and even our grown ass black men! not that i’m “loving” the white folk, but i’m just stating comparisons. white ppl can see a movie like scarface and goodfellas, and walk away from it to continue their lives and accomplish thier goals, so many of our black men see movies about gangsters and want to BE them. decide that they want to do it like scarface did it! even to this day there are people living their lives like it’s a movie or something, then they get caught up in the system, and forgotten. i’ve already seen the movie (AMERICAN GAGNSTER on bootleg) and i can guarantee you there will be a whole bunch of black males who will want to be like fank (mainly because denzel did such a great acting job) jsut like when scarface was released in 1983 and mofo’s STILL putting him in their raps in 2007. and scarface was a fictional character! so just think how mofo’s gonna feel watching this movie about a REAL gangsta.

What’s with rappers looking up to crime lords or aspiring to their status? Whatever happen to the days we aspired to be like Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Marcus Garvey, James Baldwin, Fred Hampton etc.
