Remember the “BMF Wives” reality show that Big Meech was supposedly shutting down? Well it looks like it’s gotten a bit of a makeover along with some changes to the cast. BOSSIP has the exclusive trailer and an interview with one of the wives.

Check it out below:

“Four women bond together despite circumstances to overcome life challenges.”

Toni, Lisa, Janell, and Temeka all had their lives rocked in 2005 after a federal indictment that swept the nation turned their lives upside down. Seeking to re-build her life and in search of redemption, Toni who herself served nearly 3 years in federal custody wants to turn her life around, and while the past seems to find Lisa in what seems to come with “the game” Temeka wishes to move on with her life and keep her friendship intact with a man she once thought she knew, while Janell defends her man and their relationship during his 30 year sentence.

What did you think? Obviously this is still a rough cut but do you think the ladies have a hit on their hands?

BOSSIP had an exclusive 1 on 1 with one of the wives, Lisa Buford (unlike “Basketball Wives” she’s actually married). Hit the flip for it.

Where are you from and what’s your involvement w/ BMF?

I’m from Los Angeles, California born and raised. I was married to Paul Buford, who was Southwest T’s [Terry Flenory] right hand man.

So how did you meet Paul?

I met Paul over 20 years ago, we were together on and off, more off than on before we were married in 2000.

How has your relationship with Paul changed since the case against BMF?

He was indicted and is now serving 18 years federal time. Our relationship changed ONLY that we’re divorcing, he will always be family and my friend and I continue to support him.

Have people treated you differently since the case?

Of course people treated me differently after the case — my husband was on the run for 3 1/2 years when the indictment came down. A lot of people turned on me and I went through a lot mentally and emotionally at that time….but all it did was make me stronger

Were you ever arrested or questioned in regards to the case?

I was never arrested, but I was questioned regarding my involvement in the case. I didn’t know anything and I was never charged with anything.

What’s your relationship with the other women on the show? Who do you consider allies? Who do you have issues with and why?

All the women on our show are bonded by a common thread, but I stand on my own two feet and always have… Once the show airs you will see how the relationships play out.

What do you think about the “Mob Wives” show? How will BMF wives be different?

I like the “Mob Wives” show, we’re not the same, but we’re not that different as the women on that show. We’re all women who are affected by the lives our husbands led, we don’t compare ourselves to anybody or any show though, we are DEFINETLY unique. I think you will see that there’s a big misconception to the type of women the men of BMF had.

There was talk that Meech and T were unhappy about the show. Why did you guys decide to proceed anyway?

Meech and T are both in full support of the show as well as the other husbands/boyfriends. They were never against it. Rumors were all false, we just never addressed the rumors because we knew the truth. What’s understood doesn’t need to be explained.

When TLC planned to put out a show about Shawty Lo called “All My Baby Mamas” people petitioned to have it removed and threatened to boycott advertisers. Have you thought about that happening to this show and what reason would you give a network to proceed with “Married to the Game”?

Shawty Lo’s project and this project are completely different stories. My reason for being a part of the project is to show and inspire young women that you can come from nothing and be something. I dealt with a man in the game, but I turned a negative into positive. My life is more than this show. I am a celebrity barber for Kevin Hart, Cedric The Entertainer and other stars. No degree, no diploma. I’m self made, that’s my story. I’ve been through a lot in my life and I’m just trying to inspire these girls out here in the game today.

Do you currently have a contract with any network? How much interest has the show generated from networks?

Just know we will be on your TV screen REAL SOON!! (Laughs)

What did you think? Do you want to see Lisa, Toni, Janell and the other ladies on TV now?

And it’s probably also a good time to tell you that she and two other ladies from the show will be on The Ricki Lake Show April 15 (that’s today!). Hit the flip for a preview and synopsis for the episode.

Via The Ricki Lake Show:

April 15 – Today’s guests are women whose significant other is currently serving time behind bars.

Ricki first speaks with women attached to members of “The Black Mafia Family” (aka, the BMF), a notorious American drug ring. Two years ago, Janell began dating ‘Big Meech,’ (co-founder of the BMF) and lived a glamorous lifestyle until it imploded when he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for drug-trafficking and money laundering. Despite his conviction, Janell is standing by her man and plans to marry him when he is released in 2032.

Lisa married PJ, another member of the BMF, whose life also came crashing down after his conviction. Suffering from depression, she has decided to divorce and move on with her life.

Toni was not only married to a convicted member of the BMF, she also served four years in prison on a money laundering charge.

In addition, Ricki sits down with Kristen, a woman who says she met the love of her life online, although he’s a convicted felon who is currently serving a 30-year sentence for murder.

And, Ramona Rizzo, star of VH1’s “Mob Wives,” shares details about her upcoming nuptials to Joe, her incarcerated fiancé who she plans to wed over the phone.

Joining the conversation is Dr. Thema Bryant-Davis, a licensed psychologist and associate professor at Pepperdine University, who sheds some light on this attraction to men behind bars and men who lead criminal lives.
