You guys have to watch this sunday on the discovery chanel at 8pm for the whole episode.

Every once in a while, I have to pinch myself. I still can’t believe that a black man is in AIR FORCE ONE and that a black family gets to live in the White House, go to Camp David etc…For so long we were conditioned to believe that only white people could have access to certain privileges.

I am in awe of this man and this family. May they succeed!!!

WOW! First for the 1st time. It is still hard to believe that this man made it right to the top. However may GOD bless him and keep him safe during his 4year and hopefully 8year term.

I’ve been involved with the military for some years..the chain of command is posted on the wall. I always wanted to know why more black men were not on the officer side of the chain. Well…the day after Obama was sworn in I went to see if his picture was posted. There’s a black man at the top of the wall now. I walk by that wall everyday now…just to make sure it’s not a joke or a dream. I’m literally in shock.

I wanna see how many more black four star Gen.? When will he see the troops? When will the depresion end? When will chicago bulls go back to the championship?

Look at the class of Mr. President. Notice how he references the pilot and others as “Sir.” He is respectiful, personable, confident, and humble. YES WE DID! As he said, things won’t always be smooth sailing, but he is willing to what’s right, and be honest about. I’m looking forward to the next four years, and I although it was bitterly cold on Tuesday, I’m looking forward to do it all over again in 2012! Obama/Biden 2012!

I know this has to feel like a dream to Obama. I know he is still pinching himself when he wakes up in the morning in his bed in the White House. If we are still amazed, believe me, he still can’t believe he did it! We’re proud of you Obama, family, and staff

I just can’t believe that we are all alive to see this right now…we are truly blessed to be witnessing history.

That is wonderful. I am sorry to say that I was a non believer in early 2008. I saw a picture of all the politicians running for president and for the first time I laid my eyes on “President Obama”. I had never heard of him prior to seeing his picture. I said to myself, “Why do black men waste their time running for president, their is no way he will be elected president?” It was actually my white colleagues that had more faith in him being elected than I did. I believed in America, and the way things have always been for blacks. I knew their was NO WAY they would vote for a black man regardless of him being the better of the two. My white colleagues were the ones telling me, “He is the real deal.” They showed me a few of his speeches and sent me material on what Barrack Obama represented. They were the volunteers in his campaign. They put the time and effort in to make sure he went as far as he did. That was very inspiring to see white people working so hard to get a black man elected as president. What this has taught me is you have to BELIEVE regardless of what history has shown you. I have learned so much from The Obama’s and Barack has been president for all of 3 days.

I was watching a film in class talking about how Thomas Jefferson and others like he justified withholding blacks from having the rights he did-and yet, I have to smile knowing that it’s now different.

Your comments are so correct!!! That was the first thing I noticed about the clip… the amount of respect President Obama shows to ALL people; and I’m NOT surprised! This man is about as humble as humble can be. He brings that sense of “I’m just like you” to everyone he interacts with. He was trying to put Mr. Jackson at ease when he (Mr. Jackson) was going over the menu with him. It’s that amount of respect and humility that makes me love this President and the First Family even more. Clinton showed signs of that same personality. Never forgetting that he’s just like us… only charged with the awesome responsibility to lead this Nation back to the greatness! He has the will and ability to do just that, and I am soooooo looking forward to celebrating again in 2012!!! Yes We Can (AGAIN)!!!

CORRECTION: I agree with most of what you said, but the only reason taxpayers have largely been unaware of government affairs is because the media has NEVER scrutinized a President like this. The American public has NEVER scrutinized a President like this. Actually, info has usually been there for people who want to dig for it. The previous administration got away with whatever they wanted, and almost everything went unchallenged. I think the media was fearful of Bush and Cheney, honestly.

Why don’t people consider him the first BIRACIAL president. He’s only 1/2 black and 1/2 white. He’s white enough for the white people to accept him, and black enough for the blacks to accept him. I am a disabled veteran of the Gulf War and I am going to the V.A. Hospital on Monday, I will be making sure that here in Northern Cally, that his picture is posted in our hospitals, clinics, etc. I am actually going to start going enjoy going now, than before…seeing ol’ stinking coke head George Bush’s azz on the wall when disabled veterans, and ones from the war have to see when they first enter the hospital…This is going to be a day of total enjoyment…..knowing that the Commander and Chief is Barrack and he is BLACK!!!!

Not to offend the biracial americans, but let’s be clear, Obama since birth identified himself as a black male, not biracial but black. And why does he identify himself as that, well, his mother a woman by the name of Ann Dunham, told him, and his sister that he was going to be the first black President. She instilled in him a sense of black pride. Ann was smart and realistic enough to realize that this country if it walks like a duck, cracks like a duck, it’s a duck. Obama has said many times, that if he ever had any doubt on his race he was reminded of his blackness everytime, he tried to catch a cab in NY City. His sister Maya, has said, that although she accepts the fact and embraces the white equal with the Asian background, she see her brother as a black man, because he see himself as a black man. Now, biracial people want to identify him and claim him, and I applaud that, but if Obama and his family see him as an African American male, who are we to tell him he’s not African, when he clearly has embraced the black culture, engulfed in the black culture moreso than many black people have.

And he’s probably more black than alot of blacks who aren’t biracial. Look, he married an obvious black woman in Michelle, his house in Chicago is decorated in African/Asian art. He lived and raised his family on the Southside of Chicago. He was a community organizer. And not once since his campaign has he denied his blackness, or try to shy away from it. IMO: Barack is himself because he has identified himself as black. I guess, his life spent as a young man in the White world, being raised by white grandparents going to Ivy League Schools, the whites around him, quickly and painfully made him aware of his blackness. Obama was just smart enough to accept it.

I feel the same way, I adore the Obamas. Michelle is fierce and President Obama is sexiness personified. This man as far as I’m concerned has swagger, charisma, the whole package. And he does it without being over the top. Black men, rappers, entertainers take notes.

Everything you’ve stated pertaining to Obama’s blackness is why America is F’d up today. I’m a black man, and no matter what I will always look at Obama as what he is, “biracial.” It’s sad even in today’s society, that American history still lies to us (and again). I mean, lets face it, its a lie that Obaama is the first African American president, due to his mother being white and his dad being African. This is like having a Asian man that look black having both parents being of Asian decent, say he’s the first African American (evening going as far as having been through the struggles of the “black man in Chicago”).
