Mark Curry, former artist on Diddy‘s Bad Boy label, puts the venomous mogul on blast in his new tell-all:
A former artist on Diddy’s Bad Boy Records roster is looking to air out the music mogul in a new tell-all book based on his time spent at the label. Mark Curry is releasing Dancing With The Devil, a memoir in which the rapper airs out some of Diddy’s dirty little secrets. One of them being his shady business practices.
Curry, in the book, says Diddy isn’t a caring and nurturing mentor to new artists signed to his label. In fact, he’s quite the opposite. The rapper accuses the label head of stealing his artists’ shine.
“Puff has an annoying habit of inserting himself into the songs and videos of all the artists on his label and its common knowledge that many Bad Boy acts resented him for this,” an excerpt from Curry’s book reads. “Asked about his practice in the July 1995 issue of a magazine aimed at black teenagers, Puff said: ‘I like performing with my artists. I like talking on the records and I like being in the videos. It protects my interests in terms of what I’m going to do in the future. Say if a company tries to remove me. It’s going to be hard to remove me and still have my acts and [have] the same level of intensity and the same flavor and feeling’.”
Not only is Diddy trying to overshadow his artists, but Curry also claims he is taking their hard-earned money as well.
“Puff charged the artists for his appearance on their records and videos, usually without [them] realizing it until they receive their royalty statements,” Curry writes. “That’s when they discovered that their large sums of money had gone to fees which were doubled, tripled and even quadrupled because of Puff’s ‘special appearances.’ He charged artists, for example, for having his Bentley in his videos — which he insisted upon — then took tax credit for business use of a car.”
Dancing With The Devil is slate for release in February. It is 266 pages in length, and features 32 pages of exclusive photos.
This jawn sound like a must read. However, this whole shadiness on Diddy’s part comes as no shock. That was, is and will always be Puffy’s M.O.
