The director for the new Aaliyah biopic are doing extensive research for the little lookalike, Keisha Chante:

Fans anticipating R&B singer/actress Aaliyah’s forthcoming biopic can rest assured that the film is going to be as seamless as Jennifer Lopez’s praised role in Selena. According to Bill Condon, the director for the as-yet-untitled pic and famed director of the hit film ‘Dreamgirls’ starring Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx, Aaliyah’s biopic and its cast are studying hard to make sure the pic is up to par. “We are going to great extremities to make this movie perfect. We have (Keisha) Chante in extensive… …training studying, speaking with family members, watching personal footage and in choreography training with Aaliyah’s choreographer and dear friend Fatima Robinson. This movie will will be seamless the same way it was for Selena fans who enjoyed Jennifer Lopez.” In addition to Keisha Chante, who has been cast as Aaliyah, the “One In A Million” singer’s choreographer Fatima Robinson, Timbaland, Ginuwine, and Missy Elliott are to be featured in the film. “Rock The Boat” music video director Hype Williams has also been tapped for the film to recreate Aaliyah’s final video shoot.

Sources close to the much-anticipated film say they’ll be “going deep into Aaliyah’s life”.

Notorious was good, but this one has the possibilty of being great. Aaliyah left a lot of unanswered questions about herself and her career. Hopefully this film will provide some insight.

Here is the throwback jawn from our fallen Angel, Rock the Boat.

Miss you Aaliyah. Can’t believe it’s been almost 8 years :(

Tearing up as we speak! I know they better not screw this up! RIP Baby Girl..

  • Today is a NewDay

I would definitely aticipate this film…it sounds like it’s in a very respecful manner…

Its impossible to imitate of woman so angel-like…but I bet she’ll do her best…

I know I’d love to see the movie…

RIP Aayliah…One in a million, for real.

  • Raquel29

    @Yauna:

I know that’s right!! Still an angel she is. The girl they have playing her is really cute. And I am NOT going to cry at work while watching the video. I will wait until I go home.

They better make sure this film is NOT like Notorious. But then again, Notorious was a hood movie anyway. So…no comp.

  • Sit yo five dollar ass down before I make some change ( IMA …..A Diva!!!)

This movie better be good or they will ahve alot of ANGRY folks acting a fool…for them making her look bad and them wasting their $12.00 to see it…lol

  • Mrs. Rance

I definately won’t be seeing this one on opening night. Until someone can assure me that they are going to address the R. Kelly saga, I want no parts of it. To say nothing of the juicy behind the scenes battle between Jay and Dame over her. At least Dame beat Jay at one thing. Aaliyah was adorable, but her taste in men sucked.

  • Sit yo five dollar ass down before I make some change ( IMA …..A Diva!!!)

“Rock The Boat” music video director Hype Williams has also been tapped for the film to recreate Aaliyah’s final video shoot.

Nooo, not the last video shooooott!!! This will be so sad *tear*

I’m surprised Beyonce hasnt cried for the role yet. LOL

    ************************************

Rumor has it Jay was making headway with Aaliyah when Dame swooped down and claimed her for himself.

  • ChickaChicka

I hope it is not anything like the Biggie Movie! That movie Sucked!!!! For real!!!!!!

  • T.T.

I wonder are they going to include her loose promiscuos behavior in the movie or continue to behave as if she was pure as the driven snow. If you gonna tell the story, tell the whole truth. Not some image you want to portray for her fans.

  • MissBlaze44

It’s about damn time. I’ve been waiting patiently for this one.

Too bad they waited so long. I always thought the older daughter on that show MY WIFE AND KIDS would have been Perfect to play Aaliyah, but this young ladey here will do. She certainly looks youthful enough to do it.

    R.I.P. Baby Girl!

  • T.T.

Rumor has it Jay was making headway with Aaliyah when Dame swooped down and claimed her for himself.

    —————————————————————————————————-

I wouldn’t be surprised. she was not what people thought she was. She had a lot of secret affairs.

  • MissBlaze44

    @ Raquel 26

    Gurl, HUSH YO’ MOUTH!!!!

  • MissBlaze44

    @ T.T. & dem

My grandma always said – it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it!!!!!

  • Raquel29

    @T.T.:

    What are you talking about??????

  • MissBlaze44

I think its safe to assume that ol’ girl must have been SOME kind of freaky if she was involved with R. Kelly.

Still – she never really put her business out there all like that. You’ve gotta give her credit – she ALWAYS kept it lady-like!

  • Raquel29

Is that you in the pic there MissBlaze?? If so, I think that you are absolutely gorgeous. :)

I feel comfortable with my sexuality (and myself) to acknowledge another attractive female. I know, I know…I’m getting off topic.

I’m just waiting for the Bey stans to come in and knock me down….lol

  • Think about it

Wait a minute that’s not Aaliyah?!?

Woooow. When I first saw that picture I thought, “Boy, she looks really young and that’s a weird angle,” but I still thought it was her. Creepy…

  • BLESSED

I HOPE THEY SHOW R.KELLY ROLE IN HER LIFE… THEY WERE MARRIED!

  • Kantrustem

Watch them call me a hater, lol, but IMO, I think Aaliyah was great, really I do, but I dont think she was the All that she was portayed to be, talented yes, angel-like and pure, lol, now thats funny.

  • Lacombe Redbone

I’m sorry but i don’t think that she was all that interesting…not enough for a 2hr featured film. I mean, don’t get me wrong, she was a talented and beautiful person but what was so interesting that it needed to be told to the world???…Besides being married at 16 to one of the horniest creatures on Earth!!!!…I mean, if movie producers aren’t gonna hip us to that scandalous shit, then why bother!

  • ♥ pYnK (…Digital Girl)

    I can’t wait!! ♥

  • MissBlaze44

    @ Raquel29

Thanks, Dawlin’, but that’s the ever-beautiful DENISE VASI from All My Children.

  • Think about it

    @ Blessed

I thought about that exact thing. I have a feeling that if her family is producing it, they’ll either black it out or glaze over it. That’s the one thing about biopics of the recently deceased — particularly someone as loved as Aaliyah. Mad people will want to guard her posthumous reputation.

No R. Kelly would make the film lack credibility. Not only did they marry, but he had a very heavy hand in producing her first album. (And he’s the shadowy Svengali-looking dude in the background on the “Age Ain’t” album cover.)

  • MissBlaze44

    @ Lacombe Redbone

GIRL IF WE WERE ALL IN A ROOM TOGETHER RIGHT NOW – YOU REDBONE ASS WOULD BE TOSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Think about it
  • Raquel29

@MissBlaze: Now aint that a blip? And I dont even watch that one. lol

  • Jane Doe

Im must say at first i wasn’t keen on the idea but now im quite excited Bill is a good director…so i’ll guess we’ll just see what happens..

  • Think about it

    @ Raquel –

If that’s the case, then I agree with Redbone. What else would make her story compelling? She was a cute girl with a sultry voice who danced well and made hits. Then she died an untimely death. No real narrative arc there. If nothing personal, then we can just watch her videography and be done.

  • Jane Doe

    @ Raquel29

    Thats very true, i agree…

  • Swag-a-licious

    @Lacombe

On the contrary, I think it the fact that she was so private makes her story interesting. Given today’s over-exposure of RnB singers (not mentioning no names), but we didn’t see her clubbing, shopping, dating, eating at restaurants, etc.

When Aaliyah died, believe it or not it was a shock throughout the world!! She has more fans than biggie and Pac combined.

It was said that she was married to Kellz, messing with Jay Z and Dame, Both Timberland and Missy wanted her….and she didn’t know her beauty. It was said many times how ugly she thought she was…I do remember her having a lazy eye…but I always thought she was beautiful and an “around the way chick” kind of way.

Long story short – SHE WAS NOT A DIVA!!!! And people love that in talented people.

  • MissBlaze44

EVERYBODY who ever came in contact with this young lady loved her. I remember Isiah Washington (say what you want about him) saying after she died, “I think God seriously made a mistake this time when he took her.”

We ALL know God don’t make no mistakes – but I’m sayin’ – somebody with THAT kind of CHARISMA – who can draw you in just by talking and being around her – DESERVES A MOVIE AND A TV DRAMA!!!!!!

Half of us on this sight right now probably have friends and family who JUST PRETEND TO LIKE YO’ ASS!

EVERBODY LOVED AALIYAH!!!!! TRULY LOVED HER!!!!!

  • MissBlaze44

    @ Swag

You better believe it – let that Chick know, Swag!!!!

  • Jane Doe

    @ MissBlaze and Swag

    I agree with you two…

  • Swag-a-licious

    @MissBlaze

LOL…I had to let her know…

See some of these RnB singers will not be able to have a successful biopic because BOSSIP will have already detailed their every move. It will be boring.

Like, we knew Tina and Ike used to fight. But “What’s Love…” was sooo good because it was other little things that we didn’t know about her.

We know EVERYTHING about some of these other chicks so why pay money…hell THEY HAVE A POST ON BOSSIP EVERYDAY!!!

  • Raquel29

I think her untimely death is the reason why people will go see this movie. Almost like filling in the gaps of a life that we havent even begun to know.

  • sugar&spice

    *yawn*
This movie won’t be able to touch ‘Selena’ and anyone who believes for a second that her parents are going to allow Aaliyah’s marriage to R. Kelly to be mentioned even fleetingly in this movie, you’re delusional. As tight-lipped as they all were regarding the whole sordid affair, the producers (or whomever) need to stop tryna hype this movie up with lies of spilling some of the goods. Although I was a fan of Aaliyah’s, I’ve never bought into the whole ‘she was an angel’ spiel, so I think this movie is going to be nothing more than a fluff job. And like I said on another board, I don’t get why folks think a person is worthy of a biopic when they have done nothing MAJOR as far as contributing to the Music Industry. I totally got why a movie was done about Selena’s life…but Aaliyah? Not so much. Yes…she did die tragically/unexpectedly, but be that as it may, she didn’t do anything during her career that warrants a movie.

  • And…

The whole story is very sad – very.

If they want the movie to be a success then in should be done in the same way as Ray, Walk the Line & What’s Love Got To Do With It.

If they don’t it won’t work out well.

Fans knew about her personal life & people that didn’t will probably want to know.

The movie will probably generate more fans.

Like in Ray: he sang songs w/Margie, if their history & relationship as tumultuous as it was wouldn’t have been told the movie & storyline would have suffered. Same w/Ike & Tina and Johnny Cash & June Carter.

Although she never had an extremely exclusive or public relationship…the details of them is part of her story.

If they are going to do a story, they should do the whole story. I hope Bill Condon does it true to form.

  • Beatifulblkgoddess

An I hope they have aaliyah singing instead of the artist who’s playin her. cuz I hated that in cadillac records and in notorious that, they didn’t have the artists voices and that’s what makes it seem even more fake. They did a good job on selena though so I hope they do it like dat!

  • Joe the Haitian

An Aaliyah biopic will be boring if does not expose never known details or talk about well known details about the her private life. I’m saying it has to be salacious, but it has to be attention grabbing.

All these entertainers who have had biopic done about them had something of interest. Johnny Cash had drugs, then finding God. Ray Charles had blindness, childhood trauma (brother drowning), easy women, drugs and extramarital affairs. Richie Valens (La Bamba) had an asshole brother and trying to break in the industry while being Mexican American. Elvis Presley had drugs, women, and conflicts with his manager. Frankie Lymon had bigamy and drugs. Little Richard had drugs, his sexuality, and becoming Born Again.

I know they are still alive, but will Hollywood ever do a biopic on the Fugees. My cousin Jean-Claude Francois would be perfect for Clef.

  • And…

    @ sugar&spice…

    I agree.

Selena was so good is was a shame….some of J. Lo’s best acting to date.

The scene where she did Como La Flor in Mexico…wonderful.

The entire cast did a great job.

  • tj

Sounds exciting! Would like to know who is writing though please not another Bythewood!!!

  • tj

@ Joe. If they are honest about the R.Kelly thing and the Missy Elliot relationship then they will have plenty of material. They’ll make Johnny Cash look like a kids movie. LOL

  • tj

    ……………….

The producers don’t have to consult Aaliyah’s family. In fact there is no gaurantee that Aaliyah’s former representatives are producers on the film. However in certain instances producers break off the family with a production credit (or base the film partially on a former book project) to tie the fam’s interest to the financial interest of the production team. Basically you won’t know what’s in the film till you see it.

I 100% sure that this movie will be the greatest ever!!!!

  • Jazz

SHE’S A GOOD CHOICE. SHE LOOKS A LOT LIKE HER.

  • c from stl

I’m surprised Beyonce hasnt cried for the role yet. LOL

    ____________________________________________________

Why was I thinking the EXACT same thing!

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAAAAAP!!!!

You forget. Under Bill Condon’s tutelage, Jennifer Hudson with no previous acting experience was able to elevate herself from a rough neighborhood in Chicago to climbing those steps at the Academy Awards and accept an Oscar. ‘Dreamgirls’ was a labor of love and judging from the director’s record, he’s pretty consistent in churning out quality productions. Best believe, when the Aaliyah biopic is finished, it’s going to be the best it could be. Aaliyah’s mystique is one factor that explains her appeal. If the main actress can harness that, Bill Condon has won half the battle.

  • Redd Tony

    Awwww

  • Jane Doe

Im beginning to think some of you guys cant read, lol the story said “they’ll be going DEEP into Aaliyah’s life”…. soooo that means nothing in her life will be left untouched.. so the R.Kelly saga will be included.

  • lik_wid_cherry

Mrs. Rance, I’m with you. Everybody knows about the situation between her and R. Kelly so it better be in the movie. 9 times outta 10 though, Kellz probably will try to hit the production up with some legal bs. We will see….

  • http://www.myspace.com/spellboundproductionsllc Rare in Deed

Wow…Keisha Chante is absolutely gorgeous. I’m shocked that i’ve never heard of her before today…

  • it’s me dammit!!

I loved Aaliyah as an artist and performer, but I didn’t buy into the whole “Angel” thing either, the girl was very into older men, you can tell by her choices, example R.Kelly and Damon dash, this movie will only be interesting if they answer the real questions about Aaliyah and R. Kelly’s relationship and the demise of him being her producer/manager, I hope this movie does her justice. Because “Notorius” was a joke and it didn’t tell us anything that we didn’t already know, and the casting was HORRIBLE!

  • Bringthanoize

Will the movie completed w/ RKelly molesting her as an underage girl?

Or just another Hollywood censored bio op pic?

    Rip

  • Bringthanoize

Btw- Keisha Chante had her musical steez stolen 100% by Rihanna.

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAAAAAP!!!!

We all know what Kelz is going to say if he’s ever interviewed about Aaliyah and her teenage pregnancy. “That was NOT me, man. That was not me in that video … I mean, er, tappin’ Aaliyah. IT was my brutha.”

  • Prude

    Just glad Beyonce wasn’t CAST!

  • YoungFlyFlashy

I’ve heard a couple of her songs before, she’s talented, just slept on. Her voice is a little heavier than Aaliyah’s but she’s pretty and she does favor her. I think she’s a good choice for the role

  • Tammy

NOW THEY HAVE TO DO A MOVIE ABOUT LEFT EYE.

  • happy cause i’m not @ work

This movie will be great. I just hope the people th director cast can act. And if Beyonce gets any way near this film I’m going 2 kirk out. I just can’t take her monotone non-acting a$$ in any more movies.

  • YaYa

Am I the only one that thinks this girl looks NOTHING like Aaliyah?

i liked alliya’s music but don’t consider myself a fan of her…but i don’t have high hopes for this movie.

  • capt’n backslap

too much time has passed for a global acceptance of this movie. Its gonna bomb like cadillac records. Sorry but I never thought she was that good of a singer in the first place. She didnt have a golden voice, she just looked good. I’da beat it up though…

  • Just Bored…

She looks young to me, maybe she will be playing the kid version of her.

  • Just Bored…

Idk maybe it’s just that picture…

  • zappy

I don’t know if it will be as big as Selena, but I hope it will be honest. I have a funny feeling that the family is backing this one, so I doubt very much we will see the marraige between her and R Kelly – I think it will be glossed over.

She was very private and her affairs were kept secret, so I don’t think we will see everything. I do think it could be succesful, as other bio movies have been shown to be.

I think this girls looks a LOT like Aaliyah, she just needs a nose job, which I am sure she will get before the movie starts filming.

  • zappy

There was a Tupac movie, a few years ago, produced by his mother. Google it, if you don’t believe me.

  • knottmyhair

    yes…very close enough

  • Darkesthourglass

I have a feeling a lot of dirt is gonna be dug up on this Aaliyah film. If it’s about 2 hours that leaves plenty of time to do it. Nobody wants to see an afterschool special. Now where’s that Bob Marley film I’ve been hearing about? Now THAT’S a story.

  • joe boy

They should name the movie “One in a Million,” because she really was. RIP

  • InsertDopeWordsHere

Can’t wait for this bio. Rip, Aaliyah.

  • MWNY

I was a fan of Aaliyah’s and still is. I also think they should have came out with a Tupac movie, I have that DVD but I want to see a movie. I caught AG the other night on BET and saw the episode they did on Mutulah (sp) Shakur, Pac was smart man.

  • statim

Don’t see this movie being a box office hit. Aaliyah’s appeal is quite limited. Someone said R Kelly was her producer/manager. He was never her manager. Her uncle, that Hankerson guy, managed her career. Even if her family doesn’t have a hand in the project I don’t see much substance to her biopic. It’s going to get a similar reception Notorious got.

  • Hey Bossip

As much as I’d love to see the things I didn’t see in her life I just don’t think it’s right. She had a great career, but everything (the gossip) I would love to see just would be too trashy to show on a big screen if the person has passed away. Let her go with the pure thoughts we have about her.

I would love to know about her relationships with R.Kelly, DMX, Dame, Jay-Z, and Diddy (P.Diddy at the time). I believe she at least had SOME chemistry or relationships with all of them at one point in time or even the same time with Jay and Dame so says some Bossiper. And R.Kelly was apart of her life professionally and romantically.

Honestly I think if she were alive there would be no Ashanti, solo Beyonce or Kelly, Ciara, Christina Milian, or Rihanna. She was becoming an icon with her films and future films she was supposed to be in. And after Queen of the Damn I think she was headed in Rihanna’s foot steps musically with the cross over hits.

  • EL’ STEVENS

R.I.P. Aaliyah!! For me personally U R TRuly MIssed! UR Song “I CARE FOR YOU” is tha BOOM! U were on UR way wit music and film. If U were still here none of thee BITCHES would B able 2 touch U at ALL! UR music and presense will alwayz B here 4 me and a WHOLE lot of others. God Bles U and UR family…

  • LALA

    @ Ya Ya

That was my very first thought. Aaliyah was a beautiful girl and this girl is okay in the looks department. However, hair and makeup can do wonders. As a professional makeup/hair, I know this to be truth. At any rate, I am glad to see another sista catch a break.

  • NEXT_lalalove

It’ll be great for our Lil Canadian cutie.

  • smartass

i am definitely a fan of Aaliyah but i do not think that a movie should be made about her life, especially her personal details. she was a private person in life and that should be respected in her passing. yea, it might keep her spirit alive and attract more “fans”, but im pretty sure she would not agree with her personal life being on blast like this…shame on her family and so-called friends.

  • Toni Montana

    R.I.P. to the ANGEL Aaliyah.
I think the movie will be great, very family channel tho, much like biggies joint. I’ve been feelin Keisha Chante since 00′ i think she is an excellent choice. As much as we would like some revelation into the dirt i dont think there will be much. it think there would be rioting in the streets if she was portrayed badly in any way. Anyway, assuming its not straight to dvd, they WILL get my $9.

  • sinxc

Hmm all this gossip about Aaliyah i really dont know where she would have had the time to be sleeping with all these people in 99 she shot romeo must die and between the promo for the movie the soundtrack coupled with filming queen of the damned and recording her third album all in Australia at the same time then the promo for her third album and filming Matrix 2&3 where would homegirl have the energy to hook up ?

  • And…..(with 5 dots)

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A MOVIE ABOUT TUPAC ALSO
    ___________________________
THAT’S the movie I’m waiting for them to make. I LOVES me some ‘Pac. I still don’t understand how/why Biggie got a movie made.

This girl REALLY looks like Aaliyah! Wow! (umm, did they forget to finish her tracks on the side though??)I agree with everyone who says if they sugarcoat the whole R Kelly thing AND the fact that she was a hot-ass teenager, it won’t work.

  • ww

interesting how aaliyah wore the most clothes in the video… today, the singer or lead singer does her best to be shown without clothing or as little as possible compared to the dancers or backup.

  • BossipKeepShitGoing

iver seen keshia videos and heard her songs and shes corny ass hell, no wonder i never heard of her. but she do resemble Aaliyah, with the correct makeup and all the other stuff she’ll look like her.
ppl are always talking about rkelly, yall need to look at yall own family before yall say something about others.
theres a alcoholic, drug addict, pedophile, homesexual, theif and cant think of the others in ever family.

  • Sarie

Ya’ll ignorant people are so PATHETIC!!! It’s so sad how ya’ll like to spread rumors that ya’ll know NOTHING about. NOW all of oa sudden Aaliyah got around. LOL!!! Quit assuming dummies…….Anyway, I KNOW this movie will be great. Aaliyah was a very great, talented, kind-hearted, and beautiful person. Because she was so humble and down to earth is the reason why everyone see her in a positive light. There were no scandals about her. SO stop it. This is not these whores that are famous now. ( Beyonce, Ashanti, Cassie, and etc.)

  • ava unknown

this movie won’t do aaliyah justice. can’t we just continue to think about her through her music? (some of which i found timeless) there is no need to make a movie with a girl who looks nothing like aaliyah…not to me at least.
and what could they tell us that we don’t already know, whatever aaliyah was willing to share was shared, there’s no new information, and is her family even involved? ok…rant over

I just hope Ms. Keisha doesn’t wear her hair in the film like she has it in the picture unbove, that is not Aaliyah’s style. She had the coolest style about herself and it can’t be copied nomatter how much other female artists try to get it..you have to be born with it.

  • Resurrected

When I first saw this picture I thought she was Aaliyah she is a really good look alike of her perfect.

  • aa88

I’m really trying to understand if any of you all understand how movies are made. First of all, the picture of Keisha up there is Keisha; she’s not portraying Aaliyah in the pic. So if Aaliyah didn’t wear her hair like that, then Keisha will change it to resemble Aaliyah even more. That’s what all actors do in biopics. It’ll be different hair, clothes, the whole nine. Another thing is, this can be an interesting story because we don’t know all that much about Aaliyah’s personal life, it wasn’t really exposed. And when it was, it was swept under the rug. Most of us know she was married to R. Kelly, and I think her parents didn’t speak about it at the time, because Aaliyah was still so young and had a career to worry about. But, she’s not here anymore, and it can be revealed in detail. But, you have to add in all the people she associated with, Diddy, Lil Kim, Biggie, Timbaland, Missy, Ginuwine, Playa, and others. Hell, Selena was seen in the same way, as an angel on Earth. And she didn’t really have any controversy in her lifetime. What made the story even more interesting was her murder and who committed it. But, Aaliyah has the same chance in having a very interesting story. And people, please stop saying it SHOULD’VE been named…because the article clearly says it hasn’t been named yet. Let pre-production start first.

    Hey Bossip

I agree with you 100%, now thats real, if she was here, most of these female artists would not be as big.

  • thickems

Why are some of you guys comparing Biggie’s movie to one of the sweetest person that walked the face of the earth? They are extremely two different people who lived different lives. You are talking about someone’s life. Both are not with us anymore. If you didnt like Biggie at least show him some type of respect. You are saying Biggie move sucked. You are talking about his life. People have the right to have an opinion but I be damn does it have to ignorant too ? ? ?

RIP Aaliyah and Christopher “Biggie” “B.I.G.” Big Poppa” Wallace. You guys are truely missed ! ! !

  • http://www.concreteloop.com hustlerette

Bossip never posts my comments, ill be waiting for this movie. Just to see.

  • bfree

Aaliyah was so pretty and sweet .They can’t find anyone as pretty as Aaliyah not trying to be mean but when Selena was filmed Jennifer Lopez was a dead ringer for Selena face, and body. Just saying :-?

  • lala#1

What else would make her story compelling? She was a cute girl with a sultry voice who danced well and made hits. Then she died an untimely death. No real narrative arc there. If nothing personal, then we can just watch her videography and be done.
    ______________________________________________________
I agree. I loved Aaliyah. And she will be forever missed; but what exactly will this movie be about?
She died too young and it’s been about 6 or 7yrs since she passed.. Why a movie now?

  • http://bossip monica

Nobody can play the role of Aaliyah..sorry,but she can pass i guess.

  • sepia830

    @Mrs. Rance

I definately won’t be seeing this one on opening night. Until someone can assure me that they are going to address the R. Kelly saga, I want no parts of it.
    __________________________________________________

I agree. If the relationship/marriage to R Kelly is not in the movie then what would be the point of making it? Aaliyah was a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice, but she was far from legendary. A movie doesn’t have to be made about every singer/rapper who died “too soon”.

  • Humm……

IM pissed they shouldve had an open call for this no doubt Keisha resembles aaliyah but I couldve knocked her outta the box

  • RJ

As a serious Aaliyah fan, I wish they weren’t making a movie. I literally cringed when I heard they were doing a biopic, granted if her family is involved it’ll be respectful. But I just think this is one script I would like to see stay just a script.

  • PRADA…

  • kee kee

she can play a younger aaliyah but i think Joy Bryant should play her.

  • Beantown

Ohhhhhh I can’t wait. I’ve been missing Aaliyah, and it sounds like it is going to be very good.

I know that when Aaliyah’s mother contacted her, through John Edwards. She told her mother that only she could write a bokk or movie about her life, no one else.

Maybe we can get incite into that whole R.Kelly incident. I have a strange feeling that she was with child at one point in time in her life.

I just hope that the movie does not ruin her image.

R.I.P Aaliyah. I hope they catch your essence and your “drama” in this film.

  • Beantown

When ever I see the Rock The Boat video I think of Aaliyah crashing in a plane.

    It’s a nice song, though.

  • mimi

    Okay..
Aaliyah was not the angel we all make her to be. We must remember, she was not in the limelight long enough for things to come out. he didnt become a superstar until towards the end of her life.
-She met R-kelly when she was 12 and they married when she was 14. when people found out, they immediatly annuled.
-Aaliyah was not even a great singer, she was hooked up through her uncle who was married to Gladys Knight.Gladys knight then passed her along to a high powered executive who then passed her along to R-kelly.
-She was also know to go both ways. remember she roled with missy hard. Missy started doing her music & writing. they were together EVERYWHERE.
-As far as dating damon dash. The relationship wasn’t even that serious. Since they were kicking it occasionally he felt it was expected for him to mourn publicly out of respect.
-As far as Jay Z trying to get at her.. everyone dates everyone in the industry. Jay Z tried to kick it to every broad who started selling records so he can be the guy who’s with the chick at the top. he said in a song “I got the badest chick in the game wearing my chain”. If beyonce were to fall off, he would drop her quicker then her father smokes his pipe.

she wasn’t an angel & I dont believe she was horrible either. she was an average chick in the industry doing what all the rest of them do. I know the movie will not highlight the truth anyhow.

  • RE RE

    That girl looks like Mya..

  • justpeachy

Mya!!? Look up “Get To Know You” by Keisha on youtube, and tell me she doesn’t look like Aaliyah!
First time I saw Keisha I saw Aaliyah in her, and they were both about the same age when they started doing videos. I would love to see a movie about Aaliyah. I think alot of people still have such a tender place in their hearts for her.

  • justpeachy

p.s. I know it’s not a “real” video, it’s just a really good montage of Keisha. Try to ingnore the “rapper” in the video, his name is “Belly” *shudder* and as a fellow Canadian I claim no aligance to him! ;)

  • closer to aaliyah

from “MAYBACH MUSIC” “in the lair closer to aaliyah, say a prayer, hope to see her when I disappear from here” ummm…it was 2008 and he still shouts her out in his songs…..i love it jay!

  • Carla

Keisha Chante want to get her green card baaad, don’t worry The I.N.S. will make it eay for her to get citizen ship, hey she’s from Canada, lol…

  • Carla

Opps, I meant the words wants and easy, lol….

  • Babygirl 2009

@ Cassa and Mimi..the reason why most people view her as “an angel” was because how she transformed in the music industry..from a young 14 yr old, girl who liked baggy clothes and bandanas, and liked to encrypt “Gangster” like choreography in her videos..to this maturing, coming of age 17 year old..who made music intwined with some bit of sexuality, to a young woman who was starting to blossom as a celebrity. The only reason some of you guys post something negative on her is because she didn’t get to show people MORE OF WHAT SHE HAD TO OFFER, AND WHAT SHE COULD DO..IO believe that the “angel” thing is going a little far out at times, but if you think about how she started to change her image..she started dressing more feminine, and making songs that talked more on relationships..then you would get the idea. I am not gonna lie, I am an Aaliyah fan, and I’m not saying that she was the absolute best singer, but she contributed so much for her age..I mean look at Ciara, Cassie, and Rihanna..they are all in their 20′s and haven’t contributed NEARLY AS MUCH as Aaliyah did at 22. I mean, she ran in a marathon every year for breast cancer patients, she donated lots of money to charity, she did a contest on BET, she even started out her acting to show her fans that she wasn’t just a singer. Aaliyah was only human, so you can’t expect her to be the best of the best, or just completely pure. I bet most of you girls who are commenting have done some bad things in your past..and even though it was bad that Aaliyah and R. Kelly married when she was 14, it still doesn’t mean we have to down on her. I mean Priscilla Presley married Elvis Presley when she was 14! I don’t see anyone criticizing her for that mistake she made. Aaliyah still had something to offer to the industry, but she was taken out of this world before her creativity in music, film, and modeling could expand. Everybody wants to make up these mean rumors about her, NOT EVEN TRULY KNOWING what was going on back in those times..you don’t know if her and Jay Z actually messed around, that’s just something you wanna assume based on some pictures of them together. And Aaliyah was not bisexual, she talked to guys. Just because she rolled around with Missy and Tim the majority of her career didn’t mean her and missy were messing around. I mean you act like you never had a good friend who helped you and stuck around even when you were acheiving such great things, to roll with. Just because she came out with that tomboyish image, and hung with Missy doesn’t make her the type “to go the other way” that’s just another quick assumption. I think it’s still wrong to start trying to use parts of images of people especially the deceased and make her seem as if she was a ho or jump off. Those pictures I looked at them, and bossip took out the other people standing around Aaliyah, Dame and Jay Z to MAKE IT LOOK as if she was being more than friendly with Jay. And that’s not right. And you know it. I’m not saying that nobody should ever say something negative about her, but I dont’ care who it is..she’s not here, she can’t do an interview and defend her self. Nor can Notorious B.I.G, Left Eye, or 2pac or Jam master Jay or any other deceased celebrity..so why start making all these wild accusations?!?! I don’t understand..honestly if you wanna try to make a story up of someone MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE REAL FACTS, AND NOT JUST CONJURING UP YOUR OWN LITTLE FAKE CRAP TO MAKE SOMEONE SEEM BAD. I doubt Aaliyah was a bad person, and I’m not gonna say she was an angel, but through her many hit songs and interviews you could tell she was a sweet person. Aaliyah actually in fact to alot of people, even in the industry WAS INTERESTING. She had a mysterious aura about her, that made people wanna either know her personally, through her music, or whatever other talent she could bring. That’s why when she passed she had so many people supporting her in the I Miss You video..she had a good personality, and those people were gonna miss that. Her fans were gonna miss that. It was like a mother watching her child grow up[not just Aaliyah's mom but to fans of aaliyah who WERE moms], and then you give her that extra push and encouragement, and love and support and no sooner than you turn around they’re gone. You can’t bring them back, all you can do is keep the memories. It’s sad to know that there are people out there who wanna try to draw attention to themselves by posting or reporting things about someone weather dead or alive, that are just speculation. She was layed to rest 9 years ago, and I think her soul needs to rest. You keep trying to bring her up in scandalous types of dramas, and I have deducted so many cool/respect points from this site. I hope you guys take this into consideration, and stop trying to put stains/blotches on people’s images or memories. She doesn’t deserve this, no one who can’t defend themselves does. I’m ashamed to think of what Aaliyah’s brother or parents and friends and fans would say if they came on here and read the trash you tried to “dig up” on her..smfh.

  • Mz. Iyesha

man i don’t think they gopt married but i do think they were in love and had something going on. you can tell like for example listen to Aaliyah sing “The one i gave my heart” and you will find pain. the whole one in a million album has some pain to it like heartbroken and other songs. i know that he loved her too because after her death, he said he lost his best friend……

  • Tea

I could care less how she was in her personal life. As an artist and what she presented to her millions of fans…she was respectful, talented, and she didn’t paraide around like a ho. That’s good enough for me. She might not have been an angel on Earth but she is one now. I’ll always be her nuumber one fan…
