Anna Nicole Smith’s baby girl may see the riches that her mom spent years fighting for in court battles!
Via NYDailyNews reports:
The battle over Anna Nicole Smith’s billionaire former husband’s money may soon be coming to an end.
U.S. District Judge David O. Carter ruled this week that the former Playboy model’s six-year-old daughter, Dannielyn, is entitled to as much as $49 million in sanctions from the estate of the family of Smith’s deceased former husband, J. Howard Marshall.
Marshall’s son and heir, E. Pierce Marshall, who died in 2006, had fought Smith’s claim on the estate, portraying the starlet as a gold digger.
Smith married the elder Marshall when she was just 26 and he was 89. The oil tycoon died one year later, and Smith began a legal quest to recover the fortune she said Marshall had promised her.
While the Supreme Court ruled that Smith was not entitled to any of the Marshall fortune, Carter wrote that the estate’s lawyers had concealed legal documents in the case, and that Smith was entitled to sanctions nearing $50 million.
Calling delay tactics used by Marshall estate “too pervasive and too egregious to be ignored,” Carter said that the court could not condone such behavior.
It would promote disrespect for the authority of the federal courts to turn a blind eye to actions that willfully and blatantly attempted to make a mockery of this justice system,” Carter said in his decision.
Carter has not set an exact dollar amount for the sanctions to be imposed on the Marshall estate, and has asked lawyers for the family to present arguments as to why they should not be made to pay hefty sanctions to Smith’s daughter.
Now being raised by her father, Larry Birkhead, Danielynn last year became a model for Guess, one of the brands that helped make her mother a fashion icon.
Do you think Dannielynn is owed this money? Seems like the Marshall family are a bunch of haters…
