Cons:
1. Akon having more than one wife is illegal, in US continent and it’s territories. (though not in Senegal)
2. Akon not being able to manage his time between his career, his family(-ies), and his active pursuit of new love interests, is a great recipe for bad parenting- lo self-esteem kids. (like Chris rock said daddy’s job is keeping lil’daughter off the Stripper pole… but those girls are sure talented-im jus sayin’:).
and don’t forget child support when things go wrong. NYS 1 kid=17% 2 kids=25% …10kids=no more maseratis!
3. Placing your family in a position of ridicule (in an unaccepting society, ie USA), is an unfair burden to them. U know kids are cruel: ” yo daddy got like 20 wives, u must be like kid #93, does he even know your name?”

Pros:
1. honesty is the best policy. (most women claim they want open communication with honesty, right?) STDs would theoretically be at a lower risk.
2. everyone is equally entitled, no bastard kids, no mistresses (btw-some west african country actually reversed its ban on polygamy d/t pressure from the married women saying that things were better/more equal with polygamy because with the new law, the mistresses got preferential treatment/more upkeep n attn! (aka more goats in Africa = more gucci bags in USA)
3. having someone else share responsibilities, decreases pressure and demands of maintaining a happy husband. (who wants to be trying to look cute, while cooking, cleaning, givin him top when they are pms’n?)

that being said…
humans are not animals, right?
I mean b/c of our intellect and spirituality etc… but our parts are, that’s why a pig’s heart can keep you going.
men generate sperm everyday (and need to bust, or they’ll collect carcinogens in prostate= cancer) women start menarche(menstruation) with 300k eggs n by 35yrs you are running on fumes (downsyndrome risk increases from approx 1:1400 at 25yrs to 1:365 at 35yrs).

So Akon should do what makes him and his consenting women happy! Just has to use the right terminology: Wife in africa= Baby mamma in US.

most MATURE women (meaning past their glory days of early 20′s with dreams of marrying prince charming) would trade in a heart beat good looks for security (financial/emotional). so good looks are not a man’s most impt asset,

hey, Akon’s polygamie is not about african traditions or stuff like that, it’s an Islam thing, God has allowed muslims to have until 5 wives and the propher Mouhammed was an example.

Isn’t having several wives better than going and cheat? yeah, i think it is better.

Ummm, how does Nigeria always seem to find it’s way into negative depictions, he is not Naija, he’s from Sierra Leone or somewhere close to there. Please, leave us out of it, we have enough negative stereotypes to deal with!!!

As for the chick….what’s the confusion. He has money, has clout. What is he doing that is so wrong? African traditions still stand today, even back then, you couldn’t just marry any number of wives because with each one, you had to pay a dowry. Women were bought and sold like the NYSE everyday, no biggie. Now, take P. Diddy for example and Kim, Kobi Bryants wife, look at Hugh Hefner, shoot, look at all the artists/actors/athletes, do they look better than we regular people? No, but when is the last time I had someone try to have my baby on purpose? It’s all about the $$$. Akon is not an ugly guy to me. Seal, on the other hand….JEEZ!!! I support what my brother Akon is doing, instead of just sleeping around, he is under the sanctity of marriage…lol. He is just doing his part to balance the scale. You females usually talk about there not being enough men, he is just trying to even out the numbers and give y’all a better chance…YOU SHOULD BE THANKING HIM.

ok..one thing..how old is he really?? and another..has anyone done any research on him?..yea his culture maybe african but he wasn’t born there and hell wasn’t really raised there..Homie was born in the U.S…and moved there when he was like 8 and then came back to the U.S. when he was like 15…To me, dude is fake..If you ever hear him talk, dude doesn’t have an accent at ALL..So I truely wish he would stop it..He needs to step up and be a real man..AKON, STOP FRONTIN’ HOMIE!!

Sure Akon is dark, but that’s not what makes him unattractive…at least not to me. He’s just a plain ol’ creeper. So he has more than one wife, that’s cultural. My problem with him is that he’s old as hell and acting like he’s some young buck when he probably has children the same age as that Trini girl he damn near broke in half way back.

The real question shouldn’t be why this girl is with him (or not), but why is it that he has all these wives and children but he’s galavanting all over the world with model-types and drinking crystal but not parenting him pickeny dem (sorry my patois came through..lol)
