India Arie Cares About Talent…

India Arie.

And not all that tacky, lack-luster booty poppin fake ass diva bullsh*t:

R&B/soul singer India. Arie says the break between “Testimony Vol.1” and “Testimony Vol.2” was due to unhealthy elements surrounding her career and artistry. “I really needed to take care of myself,” says Arie.

“Everything was out of order. I was emotionally unwell and also tired of the challenge of fitting into someone else’s paradigm of a black artist”. After taking a much deserved break, the “Therapy” singer says the forthcoming “Testimony Vol. 2, Love & Politics” “represents me vocally, lyrically and sonically”.

Arie’s freedom also has to do with the decision to start her own imprint entitled Soulbird, which is distributed through Republic.

Under Soulbird, Arie is able to focus more on her artistry and less on the politics of the business. At the same time however, Arie does admits “that pressure is there,” referring to albums sales. “I’m all about feeling, and this album is 99 percent uncompromised in that way.” India Arie’s highly anticipated album “Testimony Vol.2, Love & Politics” hits stores and digital retailers Feb. 10 via Soulbird/Republic.

How refreshing to see a woman in the biz who actually gives a f*k about artistry. If only those no talent hoes (Cassie, Rihanna and the like) would fall back and re-evaluate the tired gimmicks they call careers. But of course, that’s just assuming they have the mental faculties to pull off such a feat. SMH.

Well considering she ain’t a “LOOKER”, actual talent is all she can fall back on, if you consider her boring elevator music entertainment.

Wow… the hate runs wild here at Bossip. With new leadership and new inspiration for black folk across this country, I hope websites like this flame out and die.

    EXACTLY!

  • Reesie....of Cephus and Reesie

No talent sales records….when you make sense and you got dark skin and an “ethnic” nose….you basically have no career….that really sucks…

India.Arie’s music is good for the soul…she really has a message and her voice is very soothing. I’m glad that she started to focus more.:)

  • You Smell Me??

Her attitude makes her beautiful. She is beautiful to me. I hate pretty chicks with ugly attitudes…

She’s multi-talented when half of musicians today aren’t even talented, at all. I love India and wish her the best~
p.s. at least, she didn’t sell her soul and nose down at the crossroads like some of these other “black” entertainers.

  • You Smell Me??

And her music is on point. F*ck all this garbage out now.

    @ You Smell Me

    I concur.
Ugly on the inside, therefore ugly on the outside and India is neither, word.

But in the Kim K spread you asked lady’s “to be like Kim” and get it together. Make up your mind Bossip staff & the question of the day goes to your team:

Do YOU care about “Cakes” or “Talent” when it comes to supporting these women? Who are you going to promote, push the ticket for and advertise? The one that gets your site the most hits right? Even if its a disgrace & set back to respectful & talented women. Like you REALLY give a shit.

    Keep it real!

    I love her…

Go head India with those nice legs and perfect skin sis!!!

  • Nigga Said

I always wonder why such a spiritual, talented,no frills woman would sing her debut song “video” over Akinyele’s “Put it in your mouth”. Something about that just seems odd.

  • high Priestess

too bad she doesn’t care about fashion. That ‘fit is a mess.

  • Chelly

I love her and what she stands for. It’s too bad people only care about looks. Shallow ignorant folks anyways.

  • Emmy

India was always a cool talent to listen to. They used to rob her at those awards. Kanye said “They tried to give me the india arie award.”

    he aint lie.

    glad she’s doing good

I agree with India, but hell BOSSIP, if there weren’t any “no talent hoes”, you guys wouldn’t report it.

Step your game up Bossip, you’re just 4 centimenters up from MTO.

That “Put it in your mouth” was a sample from an Oscar Brown song back in the 70s’. You know all these no talent rappers bite other people’s stuff…..My favorite India Arie moment. When she played at the Apollo, she sag a song from her fist album and they kept on showing shots of these brothers in the audience getting a little emotional while singing along with her. They knew all the words. My second favorite moment was when she did a special for MTV. She traveled to Brazil and did Brazilian inspired versions of her songs from her first album. It was so tight. She played the guitar with a blind spanish guitar master. I wish I had a tape of that. Thats something I can watch with my daughter–Sometimes I think there is a conspiracy against black culture. One, those who hold the strings want to give black people a massive, extreme makeover. They want to make us fit their idea of beauty–hense they push female artist’s who are light with long hair. Jill Scott said that when she was shopping for her record deal, she purposely didn’t include a head shot with her demo tape. Two–In their eyes, black culture means poverty, ghetto, crime, and sex.

india makes feel good music, music for the soul. music i can play on a sunday and not feel like a hethan

  • PhillyYoungGrownWoman-4-The-Kids

She is fierce!!! She is beautiful to me and I will be buying her CD the day it gets out matter of fact I will see if I can pre-order it on Amazon.com . She has a stylish earthy black goddess appeal that most common brainwashed folk can’t understand. America has a zero tolerance for any form of beauty that is not manufactured and fake.
