Illiteracy Prevention Ad Features Elderly Black Man

An illiteracy prevention ad featured around NYC has been raising more than a few eyebrows lately, as it features an elderly black man with the words:

“He couldn’t read this. Until 70. Literacy, pass it on.”

While it’s clear that the purpose of the ad is to encourage people to do their part in correcting or even preventing illiteracy whenever possible, some find the ad offensive and borderline racist.

Do you?
