Beyonce was wrong to sing SOMEONE elses song. If you do not have an appropriate song in your music library then you don’t go singing someone elses song to further yourself. That was the ONLY problem I had with Bey being chosen was that NONE of her music was appropriate for the occ*****ion, and she went all over town speaking about how the Obama girls liked her – YEA when she was with Destiny Child – but not as a single artist, where she has chosen to sell her soul to the devil for success.

Etta could have chosen a better forum to speak on the issue but then you have to know Etta to understand why she spoke out like she did. It would have been more appropriate for Etta to sing her own song, if applicable or for an artist with ‘usable’ music to have been chosen. The problem with what Bey is doing is that she is ‘*****ing’ off all the legends she ‘hopes’ to become – Aretha – Etta, etc. What is MOST SAD is that Etta’s words about Bey using her song will be what is MOST REMEMBERED about that event and not whether or not Bey performed it well – afterall, it wasn’t Bey’s song!

People are going to respond with disbelief because of the fact that she was a very prominent figure in black music during her time, and her song has been sung at weddings and other special occasions for a very long time. Fast forward 20+ years, is she really gonna be able to do a movie version? Heck no!! I think Etta is pretty much saying everything LeToya, LaTavia, and Kelly has been wanting to say. I don’t agree with the way Etta is saying things, but I’m not surprised at all since I know the history behind her and how she never holds her tongue. It comes off rude, but Etta is very blunt and this was her venue and her concert. The only reason this hit news stands is because someone recorded it. It wasn’t like she did this at the Grammys or something. In fact Beyonce was caught doing the same thing a long time ago about LeToya and LAtavia and even made a public song about them. Anyone recall “survivor”? I think Etta felt disrespected by Obama for having Beyonce sing the song that made Etta who she was, eventhough he didn’t personally choose Beyonce. In fact most people know that Mathew nagged the committee and slapped a fat check in their hands to let Beyonce perform, just like he slapped a fat check in Etta’s hands to sign the release and let Beyonce play her character. Once the movie promotion was over Beyonce should’ve stopped with the “At LAst” but she is now capitalizing off of it and Etta’s name: “Etta is my biggest inspiration” yet when someone asks her about Etta she has nothing to say. She did the same with Diana Ross during dreamgirls.

The president didn’t choose Bey…lol. She wasn’t even on the list of performers period until the very end. I would be *****ed too if I picked up a newspaper and found out that someone was singing my song without my permission. Etta allowed Beyonce to sing it for promotional purposes of the movie and to sing it in the movie. In fact Etta had even said she wanted Beyonce to lip Etta’s version, but Beyonce said no.

OK to discuss the topic at hand!

The bubble coat phase is not new. Especially to my North Face rocking Northerns that have to wear them and other heavy jackets 8 months out of the year…lol What is new is spending over the traditional $80-$120 bucks for these vests. (very surprised Diddy had on such a cheap one) Anyone over the age of 25 remembers the Jodeci/Naughty By Nature “Carhartt fad” so the vest portion is nothing new. It seems like the craze in the past couple of years (at least in Boston and NY) have been the Rock & Republic Vests and the Moncler coats and vest. The R&R’s run about $250 the Moncler’s are about $450-$500

Got both.

Vests only work though when you own a car….lol
