Tamar Braxton Talks Struggling To Bond With Son Over Breastfeeding
“Braxton Family Values” reality show diva Tamar is yet again opening up about her struggles with motherhood when her now 2-month-old son Logan was first born.
After recently clarifying a statement she made shortly after giving birth to Baby Logan about not initially falling in love with him, Tamar got even more candid on Good Morning America during a sit down with GMA correspondent Abbie Boubreau.
Check out a few interview excerpts below:
On feeling unattached to her son at first:
“I guess in a sense I did feel unattached because you know, I really, really wanted to connect with him because I wanted to breast-feed. And when he didn’t latch on and when I couldn’t produce milk I just felt like, ‘Is this the wrong child?’ You know what I mean? ‘Am I the wrong mother?’”
“I was questioning my motherhood. Like, is this a mistake that God made? Or like, is this something that I need to hand over to my husband because he and the baby connected instantly. And I wanted that.
On not instantly falling in love with baby Logan:
“I loved him, you know, but I wasn’t like “Oh gosh! Yes! My baby!” You know? It WASN’T [like] that. It was more like, “what do I do now?”
In all fairness, there are actually plenty of studies that can attest to the surprisingly large number of women who have admitted to feeling similarly to how Tamar says she felt after becoming a new mom.
