Juanita Jordan will receive more than 168 million dollars from her divorce settlement with NBA legend Michael Jordan making it the most expensive celebrity divorce to date. Damn, talk about a come up, along with the money, Juanita will receive the seven-acre estate in Chicago and custody of their three children. Juanita is currently involved with a banker 20 years her junior, and MJ is running around chasing young tail as well.

He made that money with HIS talent, not her. So what if she was his wife and so what if she helped raise his kids. That was what she was supposed to do. What did she give him in the divorce? He helped raise his own kids. He provided for the entire family. I agree that she should be entitled to a significant portion especially if she was responsible for his achievements but I am not sure how they determine these amounts. Its the same with child support.

My wife and I are in no danger of divorce, but if we were, I would be the one trying to get half. She is the major breadwinner, I’m no slouch either, but she pulls in bigger bucks. However, I paid for her secondary degree out of my pocket before we were even married so I feel like I am actually responsible for part of her success. I wont get 168mil in a divorce. One thing I just thought about: What if there are women with Michael Jordan’s kids? It’s possible with as much sex with so many women as he has had, he may have other kids. If those women come forward, he will suffer, and they will get all in his bank accounts, too.

Some of you women have kids and are getting basically pennies each month in child support while Puffy has to pay thousands each month for his kids. Are his kids better than yours? Do you need 20,000 a month to raise your kids? I hate how this sytem basically says that 1 child is better than another. These child supports cases go from one extreme to another. I know a lady that only gets 200 a month when daycare alone costs her 150 a week! The system screws her but then awards another mmother 20,000 a month. Please!

I was not questioning Juanitas entitlement to the estate. I was questioning how they determine the amount she “deserves.” If she deserves it just by being a wife and a mother, then every divorcee deserves the same amount. If he made less money would she deserve less? If that is the case, then the amount she gets is not actually based on her deserving it. It is based purely on how much he was able to bring in. Thats an archaic system and he should deduct the amount of a dowry that she didnt bring into the marriage.

i see what you are saying but their are other factors in this situation. Time, sacrificing her career to raise a family. I’m sure some business venteres were her idea and not his. As if all that weren’t bad enough, in April of this year, the Executive Director of the California Medical Board asked the state to consider revoking or suspending Adams’ physician and surgeon’s certificate.
On Monday, Adams claims he did nothing wrong in relation to the death of Donda West.

Divorce settlements are based on income. MJ makes more than the average man, so therefore child support and/or settlements are going to be more. The law basically states that Juanita is entitled to continue to live in the lifestlye that she has been living in for the past 20yrs. If MJ is a good man, he would still want to keep her and her kids in the same environment especially if he knows he is the main reason for the divorce. Also depending on if a prenup is signed, they could out stipluations in the “nup” that says if he/she cheats then they can get a certain percentage of the income. MJ is probably worth way more than that, so 168 mil is nothing to him. He is always going to make money.

Had the fault for the failure of this marriage been Juanita’s, then I would say give her the minimum she is entitled to, but given the cir*****stances of Michael’s constant cheating, I’m glad she got as much as she did. Like I said before, I paid for my girlfriends secondary education before I had my own. I was working with just a highschool diploma and helped put her through school. We didnt get married until a couple of months before her graduation. She returned the favor and supported me in my pursuit of higher education, and she is still the Primary breadwinner in the house. If she were in it for the money, she would have taken that degree and left. If I was in it for the money I definitely wouldnt have taken a chance and paid for HER education before my own.

Community Property divorce laws are way out of date. They were enacted when women generally did not have careers; when women were mostly housewives with no real outside eanring potential.

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) — More than 1 million cases of chlamydia were reported in the United States last year — the most ever reported for a sexually transmitted disease, federal health officials said Tuesday.
“A new U.S. record,” said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr. of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More bad news: Gonorrhea rates are jumping again after hitting a record low, and an increasing number of cases are caused by a “superbug” version resistant to common antibiotics, federal officials said Tuesday.
Syphilis is rising, too. The rate of congenital syphilis — which can deform or kill babies — rose for the first time in 15 years.
“Hopefully we will not see this turn into a trend,” said Dr. Khalil Ghanem, an infectious diseases specialist at Johns Hopkins University’s School of medicine.
The CDC releases a report each year on chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis, three diseases caused by sexually transmitted bacteria.

If she were just trying to get over on him- I doubt she would have invested all that time in being with him only to separate in her older years when starting over is hard to do. But how do you know that amount isn’t proportionate? If $168M is 30% of the family’s *****ets and the court determines that she has contributed 30% to the success of this family (I would suggest 3 children would at least fit that), then she is getting the exact right amount.

I still dont think you can put a dollar amount on the value of a spouse’s contribution to the realtionship and niether is that what this divorce settlement aims to do. We are trying to discern whether her value as a wife is worth the amount she received but the terms of her divorce are not about what she brought to the table- it is about the legal and responsible distribution of *****ests and properties between two once willful partners who now wish to dissolve that union. Both parties are entitled to maintain the standard of living that THEY are accustomed to based upon that union. Therefore- the divorce settlement would not put him in the poor house just to compensate her.

I have been on BOTH sides of this issue- not with nearly as much $$, but w/in my own means. I was in a relationship for 7 years while finishing school with someone older and more established and HE was the breadwinner and although I paid my own personal bills, he financed our lifestyle/ entertainment- I contributed all that I could by taking care of EVERYTHING else on the administrative front in the household- he was current on his Dr. appts, had lunch packed and dinner ready, and he NEVER ran out of clean undies!! Then I spent 5 years with someone who made more than me but had so much debt that I was the stronger income- so I contributed a greater portion toward the household and financed our entertainment so that he could get a handle on HIS debt and I STILL made sure he never ran out of clean undies!! I am not with NEITHER now and in both cases I wish I could redo it b/c I feel as though I sacrificed a lot more than $$ could EVER compensate me and still I was left with nothing after a combination of 12 years of servitude!! {Alrite servitude was a lil dramatic, but you get my point!!}
