They’ve gone mad, y’all. Some French fool wants Bey to play Angela Davis in his next film:

Franco-Algerian producer-writer-director Rachid Bouchareb, whose film “London River” screens here in competition, is setting up a movie on the early life of Angela Davis,…… a leading figure of the civil rights movement and one-time FBI renegade.

Meanwhile, Berlin-based Egoli Tossell films, whose latest picture, “Hilde,” screens here as a Berlinale Special Gala, is in preproduction on a feature film based on Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale. Davis, who once studied here at Berlin’s Humboldt University, became a cause celebre in the late 1960s when she was sacked from her post as philosophy professor at UCLA for being a communist. She later found herself on the FBI’s “10 most wanted” list after guns used in a fatal courtroom breakout were traced to her. She was charged with kidnapping and first-degree homicide and went on the run before being arrested. She was eventually acquitted by an all-white jury after one of the most high-profile trials in postwar America.

Bouchareb, who will produce the movie through his French production company, plans to shoot in summer 2010 with a budget in the region of $20 million-$30 million, and is lining up a major French backer. The script is by novelist Yasmina Khadra, whose book “The Attack” has been optioned by Focus Features. No cast is yet attached but Bouchareb has his lead actress firmly in mind: “I want Beyonce Knowles to play Angela Davis,” he said. “It’s a great dramatic role for her.”

Wow. What kind of chronic were they smoking with they decided that Bey should play one of the most prolific civil rights leaders to walk this earth? You can’t just throw on an afro wig and throw a fist in the air to capture that era. We hear they’ve also tapped Bey to play Jesus in the remake of the Passion of The Christ.

This is some bullshit. First, I never appreciated Angela Davis’s politics but Beyounce playing her is a travesty. Has anyone noticed she cant act? Beyonce does many things brilliantly, acting is NOT one of them.

Omg this shi*t has got to stop!!! bey as Angela Davis.. The world is about to end in the next couple of days…. Why lord oh why??? I have been through enough now I have to see Bey slaughter Angela Davis and the movement. Shoot me now!!!!!!

  • This I Know

This is just wrong. Who are these film directors who think Beyonce can act. When does the madness stop.

But for real, this is an outrage to Angela Davis’ image to have such a no talent like Beyonce playing the role.

What next: Diddy going to play Dr King in a movie?

  • hope4more

Damn, Damn, Damn she can’t act

  • Janelle

    Beys gonna get hers

  • Janelle

….whether you like it or not, lol….

  • This I Know

I don’t know Angela Davis, but knowing her politics based on her books, I am sure she is strongly against having Beyonce play her in a movie.

  • Sepia830

Yeah, let’s have Beyonce play another legend so that movie can tank at the box office too. Makes perfect sense…(smirk)

Are there no actresses left in Hollywood? I hope this isn’t true.

  • Sharnice

Angela Davis is a staunch feminist and I bet she would be totally against Beyonce playing her in a movie. Bey respresents everything that is wrong with the portrayal fo women in the media.

    Say it aint so…

What the hell is wrong with these people in Hollywood? Beyonce is no actress dammit! Get a real actress if you are going to make this film. Beyonce is overexposed and the public is getting sick and tired of her, I know I am. This movie is gonna bomb like all the rest, except Austin Powers. Beyonce honey, please, do yourself a favor and take a break!
