Drake Talks Kanye, Kendrick Lamar And New Album With Billboard Magazine

YMCMB hotboy Drake is making his promo trail rounds in support of his highly-anticipated upcoming album “Nothing Was The Same.”

Drizzy covers the latest issue of Billboard Magazine and he also sat down with them for a quick chat where he talks about his new album, rumored feud with Kanye West and even responds to Kendrick Lamar’s now infamous verse on Big Sean’s “Control” track.

Check out a few excerpts below:

On the vibe of “Nothing Was The Same:”
“There’s a lot less sort of ambient ballad moments on this album where I’m searching or longing for something,” Drake says of Nothing Was the Same. “That sentiment is gone.

Now I’m just kind of like, ‘You know, I’m 26, I don’t know what the f*ck else I could be doing better than this.

I feel incredible about how I’m able to support my family and friends and how supportive my family and friends have been of me.’

On his relationship with Kanye West:
“Me and ’Ye just fell into this thing where we hadn’t actually talked to each other in so long that all this stuff got built up. Sometimes you just have to find the opportunity to tell someone that you really like and respect them. After that, everything can move forward.”

Though they haven’t worked together since his first album in 2010, Drake says he’s looking forward to getting in the studio with West sooner rather than later.

“Hopefully we give the world what they want, because I know they want it,” he says. “I know me and ’Ye could do some crazy sh*t together.”

We definitely smell a Drizzy/Yeezus collabo coming sooner than later…would you be checking for that?

Hit the flip to peep what Drake had to say about Kendrick Lamar calling him out in “Control.”

Drake’s thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control”:
After hearing West Coast peer Kendrick Lamar’s instantly incendiary verse on Big Sean’s recent single “Control,” in which Lamar goes for the jugular of every rapper he deems a threat, including Drake, the latter says he “went about my day, went and got dinner and kept it moving.”

“It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”

We gotta say, Drake and Kendrick are about neck and neck in terms of who is running the rap game right now. Who ya wit, Bossip fam???
