I think she’s a very attractive lady and I applaud her visual homage to the motherland. However–I think she should’ve tucked that extra armpit meat in or wore a dress with sleeves.

India.Arie’s style is nothing new. Me’Shell Ndege’Ocello’s debut ‘Plantation Lullabies’ contained more brazen, afrocentric craftsmanship than anything I’ve ever heard out of India.Arie but people x’ed the former because she’s a lesbian.

Still, I’m really disturbed by that image of India with that thing hanging around her neck. I understand her loyalty to the motherland but that neck adornment looks like somebody was trying to lynch her and she escaped. It’s creepy.

We’ve all been programmed to acknowledge beauty beginning from the whiter complected swatches to the bottom darker ones. This chick has a bangin’ body and has a nice face.

But most of what society recognizes as true beauty in todays women is very similar from one to the next…you could line their photos up, one after the other, and find subtle differences between each one.

India Arie’s beauty can’t be defined or likened to the mold…its special all by itself.
