It’s just that the media exploit interracial relationships in order to push the buttons of people like you. It’s a divide and control tool, you tool! And it’s sad that so many of you feed into it!

Black women were bleaching their skins and wearing long yaki, European weaves BEFORE black men started “hating” us. Black women were told they’re ugly by their slave masters a.k.a WHITE MEN! before black men hated us! Unfortunatlely, many black men have picked up on it, but it’s not all. Just like many black women wouldn’t give guys like Seal or Akon or Djimon a chance because they’re TOO BLACK. In other words, the self hate goes BOTH WAYS! So stop putting black women on a pedastal as if you “I’m ashamed to walk out the door with my natural hair” aren’t contributing to your own problems, and ultimate the problem of the black community.

Again, the majority of black men I know are with BLACK WOMEN. I work in Real Estate,, and I find a lot homes for a lot of BLACK couples. My town, although predominately white, have a lot of successful, middle class black couples.

I have no problem attracting black men in my natural state. In fact, brothas always compliment me for my dreads, so this silly notion that black women in the eye of the black men is silly.

Oh, and I’m not concerned about my man leaving me for a white woman because that’s not going to happen. I’m pretty secure with myself and with my relationship, and I’m able to sleep better at night. Unlike you, I don’t suffer from a bad case of paranoia.

Many of these posts have been very disheartening and painful to read. We have a lot of healing to do as a people.

As far as some of the posts of the sistas here, it especially hit home to me because I’ve said some of the same things. It can be very frustrating when you feel that black women as a whole are undervalued, unappreciated, and rejected, by their own, no less. When I hear a brotha like a Damon Wayans or a D.L. Hughley make a crack publicly about my sisters, it hurts me to my core — because I expect more from those who look like me (and, yes, I understand that they are comedians but these “jokes” come at our expense.) There’s definitely a disconnect between some brothers and sisters and, unfortunately, it is the negative stats and images that are being highlighted and perpetuated.

For the sistas spewing venom against brothers — there are plenty of men out there who are taking care of their affairs and their families. Don’t let the bad apples sully your view of the whole lot. And if a brother disrespects, mistreats, or denigrates you, write him off as a negative entity and keep it moving. Allowing unhealthy experiences to harden or change you is giving away power. There are also hurting black men who direct their pain at sisters. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

At the end of the day, we need each other — our community’s health and stability depend on it.
