Rihanna 12/08

Update: With Rihanna’s recent statement and the alleged photos of the crime, Chris may now be in more trouble than he ever imagined:

Sources close to the LAPD are now claiming that Brown may face ‘Attempted Murder’ charges in addition to making ‘criminal threats’ due to the reported 911 call, an unidentified witness, and the alleged photos that were taken at the scene.

As reported Tuesday, investigators have been asked to present more evidence and supposedly ‘dig deeper’ — including dusting the rented lamborghini the duo was in before the alleged fight for fingerprints.

Once a thorough investigation is completed, sources say the District Attorney’s office will decide whether or not to press additional charges.

Wow…smh.

We all know that every dog has its day, and Chris Brown is no different.  Read below for updates on the Chrianna drama, and what the DA is planning to do to build an air-tight case against Chris Brown:

Investigators want another go at singer Chris Brown to seal tight the case they’re building against him for what sources say was a brutal beatdown of pop princess Rihanna.

Cops are due to reinterview Rihanna and Chris Brown soon, a music industry source said Wednesday, and cops should have the case in the hands of the Los Angeles district attorney as soon as next week.

Rihanna, who remains holed up in the L.A. area, has canceled shows in Malaysia and Indonesia to cooperate with investigators. She is surrounded by her closest friends, including longtime pal and assistant Melissa Forde, sources said.

Friends of Brown are also rallying around him, issuing what seemed the first indications of remorse from the 19-year-old “Run It!” singer.

“Chris is all right. He’s a good kid. He feels very bad that something like this happened,” friend and stylist Michael (Mike B) Barnett told People.com.

Brown, 19, is free on $50,000 bail after his arrest on one felony count of making criminal threats. The district attorney’s office asked Tuesday for further investigation before it decides whether to pursue the case and possibly add charges.

“You can tell everybody that Chris really feels bad about the whole situation, about it coming out the way that it happened, the way he went about it, the way she went about it,” another friend told People. “It’s just a wack situation.”

C. Breezy and Princess Ri Ri will be chatting with the boys in blue again very soon…

“It’s our understanding the LAPD won’t return the case to us this week,” said L.A. District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison. “Once we get it, we will review it again to determine if there’s a case.”
A legal expert says that DAs frequently ask police to further investigate cases before they file formal charges.

“The DAs probably kicked it back to police simply because they needed more evidence, such as medical records, or perhaps they wanted Rihanna re-interviewed to make sure her story hasn’t changed,” says L.A. defense attorney Steve Sitkoff, who’s not involved with the case.

“This doesn’t imply the detectives did sloppy work,” Sitkoff adds. “The fact that this case is high profile cuts two ways. On one hand, DAs want to show the public the case is handled expeditiously. And on the other hand, they don’t want to make hasty decisions.”

Despite a police source confirming multiple injuries to Rihanna’s face, Sitkoff says Brown could be charged with anything from misdemeanor battery on up to several felonies – or nothing at all.

“There’s just too many variables to make a guess at this point,” he said.

It just doesn’t get more high profile than this, so we have to be understanding and let the process take its course. Drama, drama, goodness gracious.
