The shorter our attention spans get in this microwave society the more history is forgotten or rewritten. With so many easily manipulated info sources like Wikipedia, it’s easy to forget key events that shaped American pop culture.

Here are ten life-changing events that happened on September 13th. Take a look.

On September 13, 1996 2Pac (allegedly) died after being shot five times six days earlier in Vegas. 13 bullets were fired into his BMW. He was 25.

Fun Fact: Many believe he’s still alive because he was shot on the 7th and pronounced “dead” at 4:03. 4+3 = 7. Age: 25. 2+5 + 7. Last album (first posthumous)? “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.” His alias? Makaveli (Machiavelli), who wrote that “a prince who wishes to achieve great things must learn to deceive.” No funeral or hospital pics. No murder suspects. A conspiracy theorist’s dream.

On September 13, 1994 Biggie’s classic debut album “Ready to Die” was released on Bad Boy records and changed Hip-Hop forever. One More Chance. Big Poppa. Juicy. Same once-in-a-lifetime album. RIP.

On September 13: Life fixing witch doctor Iyanla Vanzant, cross-dressing zillionaire filmmaker Tyler Perry and stuttery Obama hater Tavis Smiley were born.

Also on September 13 Ostrich-faced superproducer Swizz Beak was born and devoted his life to ruining songs with stressful ad-libs.

Also born September 13: Beloved British novelist Roald Dahl (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” & “James and the Giant Peach”) was born. Without him, there would be no Willy Wonka or R. Kelly “Chocolate Factory” album.

Another September 13th Birthday: “Gimme A Break!” star Nell Carter was born and starred as “Effie” in “Dreamgirls” on Broadway before paving the way for sassy Black chubby lumpkin comediennes like Thea and Mo’Nique.
