When I was in college, there was no seperation amongst black people. We were all part of the Black Culture League, NAACP, and we all celebrated Black History together. We often put together shows where African Americans, Caribbean Americans, and Africans would represent the cultures in harmony.

I’m truly sorry for your experience, but your superiority complex is not helping the issue. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black!

Furthermore, the problem is not exclusive to AA people. Africans and Caribbean people stereotype AA people just as much as AA people stereotype and look down upon Africans. But those people are ignorant and are not the majority.

well Metis, there are a group of people who live in Somalia, speak Somali and are Muslim as well called the Bantu. They are very dark and are black…maybe you’ve seen them. Most ethnically Somali people are not as dark as them, but come in many different shades. My family is medium toned to light and some of my cousins are dark skinned. There is a lot of colorism in Somalia…i.e. a girl isn’t as attractive if she is dark. But that’s the case in a lot of different cultures. But Somalis don’t look like typical black people because of their features (hair, face).

Also, Trinitalian, Somalis don’t all have big foreheads and they don’t all look the same. No one is superior than anyone else, so I’m not sure where you got that idea from. To say that Somalis don’t look like other Africans or that Somalis are mixed with Arabs doesn’t mean that they think they’re superior. That’s just stating the facts.

As a black English woman, I’m amazed at Uncle Kracka’s interest in a site that is overwhelmingly frequented by black people. I’m puzzled that you would deign to visit such a lowly place! Ah well, perhaps, sites for confused and confusing persons such as yourself just aren’t what they used to be….!

Just the other week there was a programme on the television called “Last Chance Kids” which shared the shocking information that 20% of primary school age children in Britain leave school unable to read. I have some bad news for you…every single child shown on that programme was white. The visionary headmistress who sought to address the problem at her East London school was a wonderful black woman called Lynna. There are millions and millions of dedicated, intelligent, charismatic and energetic black women (and men) just like her all over this wonderful planet. Be afraid, be very afraid…!

Now, what to say about us as black people in all our uniqueness and variety?; we are a fascinating, brilliant, interesting and intriguing lot. So much so that people such as Uncle Kracka for all their hatred of us simply can’t stay away! I personally think that we like all human beings on the planet need to seek out the best in ourselves and others as much as we are able to. We also would benefit from cutting one another some slack at times, being gentle with one another, patiently sharing and hearing our many stories and experiences (whether from the U.S., the U.K., Africa, the West Indies and other places) and when frustrated with and by one another we as black people might consider: taking a deep breath/running around the block/meditating/breaking for a breather or simply giving one another a hug. Choose as appropriate, and these are just a few suggestions!

We are not without hope, not at all. In fact quite the contrary! It is the thought of who we are, what we have been and what we are capable of becoming that keeps the Uncle Krackas of the world constantly trying to do us down. Just a thought….

Y’all are soooo silly. We got Somalis fighting Somalis, Africans fighting African Americans, White dude calling all of us NIGGROS, lol and the drama continues.

Fact #1: Somalis are of Oromo descent (largest Ethiopian ethnic group). We share Al-Islam with the Arabs and have some mixtures, we are NOT Arabic (nothing to be proud of -they are racist as hell and taught us to hate other Africans too). Reading all this make me so sad because my mother is from Somalia and my father is from caribean island of Tobago…I am so proud of both cultures I can not even express it …because I know I am 100% black..both my parents are very dark people ..yes they have curly but both are dark and very beautiful and we have 0 white blood in us(dna was tested for my little brother ..but that is another long story)..when people see me they assume I am mixed or latino…they are shocked when I tell them I am 100% black and 50% direct African black…what people dont understand since African black are the first people of the world we can reproduce any/all races features through many dna turn-overs and reproduction cycles …you never know african black albinos were the begining of whites who were banned and migrated to live in (caucus) caves because of the shame of thier looks…from then on through natural evolution and geography we have so many races to day …so somtime it could come back full circle…But please believe I am a proud black afrian caribean heritage women. Though I am not an african American (because I am not born in America) I think african american are wonderful too.. just think they just need to love and appreciate themselves more.

While “mankind” may have originated in the Horn of Africa, that was tens of thousands of millenia before contemporary races first appeared about 15,000kya. By that time, Somalis, Ethiopians and Eritreans had long been isolated from blacks and thus evolved independently from them. It wasn’t until the Bantu expansion of around 3000kya that the black race first made its appearance in the Horn of Africa where Somalis, Ethiopians and Eritreans had already been. This is why Horners, on the one hand, look the way they do, and blacks, on the other, look the way they do. It has nothing whatsoever to do with inter-mixture, but everything to do with entirely separately evolution. Somalis also genetically cluster with North Africans, not blacks. Nice try though.
