Rihanna’s dad Ronald Fenty is unhappy with the international media.

RIHANNA’S FAMILY have broken their silence.

And father Ronald Fenty has accused the international media of attempting to discredit his daughter by depicting him as a homeless man living in a car.

“It’s an attempt by them to shift the focus from Chris Brown [ex-boyfriend],” he told the SUNDAY SUN yesterday.

Fenty was referring to the incident involving Brown, an international singing star facing charges after allegedly assaulting his daughter in the United States.

“I am really upset about the whole incident. They had me all over the TV saying that I was living in a car and was homeless. I have a home in Warrens. I don’t live in this car. Rihanna has done really well as a person from a small island and I know that she is up against the heavyweights, so they will do anything to discredit her,” he said.

According to the father of the international star and Grammy Award singer, selling items from his car in The City is “a job I do on the side just to keep me happy”.

He pinpointed two media corporations overseas who allegedly showed clips of him selling from the back of his car in The City, and stating that he was homeless and also lived in the car. The middle-aged designer said he had seen vehicles parked down the street and people taking pictures from a car, but he had no idea what their motive was.

He chided the media for trying to “dig up dirt on Rihanna”, whom he described as being okay and in good health.

In Swan Street, Rihanna’s family members at Faith Boutique were keeping their silence, but would only divulge enough to say that they too had heard from her and “she was all right”.

Her uncle Daddy I-Roy said that since the event unfolded last Sunday, he had been bombarded with numerous calls on his cellphone from overseas media trying to track down the Bajan pop star. One of them, he added, flew all the way from New York and even visited the store in an effort to try to get information on Rihanna.

“I’m asking everybody to please understand the situation. All I can tell you is that we have spoken to her and she is all right, but that is all I can tell anyone. I don’t even know where these people have gotten my numbers from, but they need to stop calling because I can’t give them any information,” he said.

Meanwhile, reports last night indicated that Rihanna had arrived in Barbados and according to sources was expected to issue a statement soon.

It’s also reported that she would speak particularly on the subject of domestic violence against women.

In an interview with People.com, Rihanna’s father is quoted as saying that she was in Barbados spending time with her girlfriends while she heals.

He said he would not tell his daughter what to do, but noted, “If it were me, I’d move on”.

He told the SUNDAY SUN he would be meeting with Rihanna last night.

Last Sunday night, just minutes before the start of the 51st Grammy Awards, news brokethat Rihanna and Chris Brown, who were both scheduled to perform, would not be appearing.

Television reports indicated that Brown and Rihanna had been involved in an alleged confrontation.

Brown later turned himself in at a Los Angeles police station where he was charged and placed on US$50 000 bail. Rihanna also cancelled an upcoming scheduled tour of Malaysia.

Since then Brown has suffered commercially as Wrigley, the makers of Doublemint gum, suspended their endorsement dealand numerous radio stations started pulling his music off the air.

Rihanna will heal and move on. Poor Chris is going to suffer the back lash for awhile if not forever. I think that whatever happened, Chris Brown is sorry about the whole situation. As we all have seen from the older pics, they were ‘in love’ and cared about each other. There is something missing here. Again I am totally against DV especially since my best friend is a DV counselor and I hear the horror stories.
