Totally out of pocket or completely understandable? A ten-year-old got in deep trouble at school for donning a Hitler costume.

According to the New York Daily News Via UK’s The Sun reports:

Participating in a school history event in which students were encouraged to dress in the style of World War II participants, 10-year-old William Ghassemi showed up on Thursday wearing an Adolf Hitler costume.

But the staff at Dorsthill Community Primary School, which is located in the English town of Tamworth, 14 miles northeast of Birmingham, were not pleased by Ghassemi’s get up, and forced the boy to wash off the iconic moustache and remove his homemade swastika arm band.

Ghassemi’s mother, Davina, received a call from the school telling her that her son’s outfit was “extremely inappropriate.”

“I think the school have gone completely over the top,” Davina told The Sun. “At first I was taken aback, but then I got angry that William had been treated in this way.”

Davina, who describes her son as “history mad,” said that it was her son’s idea to go to the “Fire & Flames” event dressed as the war’s ultimate villain, but that he hadn’t done so out of any other reason than to capture the accuracy of the time period.

“When he came home with the workshop letter he said straight away, ‘I want to be Hitler,’” Davina said. “I wasn’t sure at first, but William said Hitler was kind of the lead character in the whole war and someone should play him.”

The school’s headmaster, Tony Hand, stood by the staff’s decision to make the boy remove the Hitler garb.

“We thought a pupil dressed as Hitler conveyed completely the wrong idea of what the day was about,” Hand said. “We think other parents will agree with our decision.”

“He [William] had put a lot of thought into being Hitler and had not done it as a joke,” Davina said. “Parents were not told in the letter the kids could only dress up as the goodies. There could have been German soldiers.”

SMH… We definitely think the school should have seen this one coming. They’re to blame, but William’s parents should have questioned why he’d want to dress up as the world’s most infamous leader too!
