That is correct. No one is defending Vick, but it should be recognized that it is only black people that get the fullest extent of the law put on them. For some folks, "He broke the law" means absolutely nothing other than get a good lawyer and that is what is not right. The law was written(not by blacks) to where there are two extremes for every law. Why is it that every time black people get the very harsh extreme? Vicks whole life should not be brought down over this period. Why am I saying this because it is not just a matter of "do the time". It means that he will have gotten a record. Afterwards, if he can't go back to the nfl, then he will have to find a job and may not be able to find one because of being in the system which leads to not being able to take care of a family. Ultimately, another black male down the tube. This is why it is so concerning. Example 2, the Jena 6 doesnt know it now, but they will have hard times finding jobs in 10 years time and it is because of felony charges on their record....more black men who can't support families.
