Kelly Rowland tickets for her performance November 23rd at the House of Blues in Atlantic City are complimentary. Of course there is some special Ticketmaster gobble up turkey promotion going on, but damn, Kelly, Clay Aiken tickets are being auctioned off starting at 80 bucks a pop, and his ass didn’t even win American Idol. SMH.
This is just a clear sign that Kelly start dabbling into other arenas careerwise. Countdown time to “When the Checks Stop Coming In”.

Normally in cases like this, the artist doesn’t work for free. In this case Kelly would make her money from the appearance/performance fee paid to her by the corporate sponsor (in this case Ticketmaster).. rather than getting paid from ticket revenue.

all I can say is – interesting. Love her or hate her you CANNOT deny that she has been one of the most influential and important female performers of all time. The proof is in the sales, the records and the awards. That is exactly why this is so interesting to me. Is Whitney Houston really about to begin the second phase of her already illustrious career or is this just another fakeout?
I am excited to see exactly what she can do now. And, being a lover of music and talent- even though her type of music isnt typically my type- I hope she does amazingly well and that her voice in intact. Lets be honest- it just might be the single greatest voice of all time.

Texasdude is close but Ticketmaster doesn’t pay anyone. Ticketmaster has an agreement with the venue/venue’s owner to sell tickets. In the House of Blues’ case, it’s Live Nation. Ticketmaster’s only responsibility is to be an outlet for ticket purchase. HOBs/Live Nation will pay the artist a guarantee to perform. So you are right there, Kelly is still being paid.

But in my opinion, it has been set up like this from the beginning. She was never set up to be successful alone, as she’s been a tool that fix up Beyonce just like the other ones. There’s been one DESTINY CHILD and that’s Beyonce. The other chicks were simply back up dancers and nothing else.
But if Kelly wants a change, she should seek it herself. I suggest to go meet up with Timbaland or something, since he has the power to make any lacking artist sell records.
I think people need to lay off that Kelly was a backup singer in Destinys Child. Kelly had alot of leads in destinys child its just the fact that sometimes beyonce & kelly sound JUST alike when its not beyonce, its kelly. In the song My First Time by Beyonce, there are some parts in the song that make you think Kelly Rowland is singing with her when its all beyonce, and on various different songs even on writings on the wall, kelly rowland sung major parts.
Kelly Rowland was considered 2nd Lead. No she didnt get the leads like Beyonce but she got the lead. kellys lack of success as a solo artist has nothing to do with Destinys Child or Beyonce. For example, NSYNC. They had two leads, both Justin & JC and they BOTH got equal amount of leads. I think JC sung more then Justin at times. But Justin happened to bring the heat when it came to his solo career and JC faded.
It’s all about drive and who you know. Kelly has stated in MANY interviews that she doesnt care about not selling well. There has been plenty of groups that broke out, that the lead singer wasnt just the only successful artist. One example of a lead singer that is not doing so well solo is Nicole Scherzinger. Its just all about drive, who you know and talent. Kelly Rowland has the talent it just seems like shes not driven enough to become a successful international solo superstar.

Because the concert has a sponsor who pays the artist for appearing. For the sponsor, its like advertising, a way to promote their compamy. Most big companies set aside a certain amount per year to spend on promotional marketing, etc.
Its just like when you see all those Nascar race drivers with the corporate names on their cars, jackets, etc. The companies pay for that and they benefit from the publicity.
(At least, they HOPE they’ll financially benefit from the publicity they’ve paid for.)

That is soo sad. My heart goes out to Kels. I know what its like to be in a career slump. I remember back in 2004 after Love & Life came out. OOOOOO WEEEEE. even Dre kept declining my calls. Kim stopped speaking to me. Missy stopped trying to get with me. the industry totally closed its doors on my *****. Geffen were trying to make me do a Greatest Hits album and then ***** off. Thankfully The Breakthrough came along. Lord only knows what I have been through. Kelly, the key is having good people on your side but most importantly TO BE A SUCCESSFUL FEMALE IN THE INDUSTRY YOU HAVE TO BE A BIT OF A DIVA/*****. either that or you get trampled on. She has a beautiful voice but she needs to be with a label that will give her better material and she needs to dump the Knowles camp. Although, I love Beyonce’s drive, it’s kinda hard not to believe the things that LeToya said about the way she was treated. It seems that only because Kelly was close to Bey like a sister, it is why she had more of the limelight than the others.
