I do not like Amy Winehouse but she sings better than Alicia Keys. Alicia ’s music is not original and her lyrics are immature. I must say WHERE THE HELL IS LAURYN HILL?????

She is overated, she’s o.k. She has and never will be able to win any singing contests. Put her in a room with NEO-SOUL artists and see what happens. India Arie, Jill Scott, Eryka Badu, Amy Winehouse, Bilal, Deangelo, Anthony Hamilton, Bilal,…. should I keep going. She is not NEO-SOUL, she has no soul. She just doesn’t have it. It’s a shame that real artists get pushed to the background, for this damn near white girl, with her white roots (literally & figuratively). That is exactly what’s keeping her out in the public “WHITE APPEAL”, she’s just white enough to p***** back and forth between whatever culture she chooses at the time.

Yes, Alicia is beautiful. Yes, her hair is real. Don’t really care if she’s gay or straight. NEWSFLASH: Alicia Keys can not sing, there is no soul in her voice whatsoever. Since she reads music so well she should be playing the piano for one of our REAL singers like: Christinal Aguilera, Beyonce, Keisha Cole, Mariah, Kelly Clarkson, Jeniffer Hudson, Faith Hill. Her voice is not even close to Amy Winehouse and Amy is an addict. I wish one of her loyal fans would leave her a post it note and tell her to stop stealing from Stevie Wonder, Prince, and whoever else she copied and ripped off. Her current album there are songs on there that PRINCE did in the 80’s can you say PURPLE RAIN, I even hear DIAMONDS & PEARLS. At least switch it up and put your own spin on it. She even copies the rifts, the falsetto in exactly the same spots. I am tired of listening to her with those RONALD MCDONALD HIPS.

Ipps, well said i did not know that Alicia is dating the guy who produces her music. Alicia’s music is not original, her voice is not that great and her lyrics are not that great as well. She has not even filled the gap that Lauryn Hill has left in the industry, but one thing for sure she is far much better than most of these young female artists currently dominating the industry and she is worth listerning to.

I love Erika Badu, Jill Scott, India Ire they are incredible.

We will never all agree but she is closer to talented then the other overated ones and I love her music!

It is so amazing how people over exaggerate Alicia Keys talent, she is too overrated I mean Erykah Badu and Jill Scott can blow her out of the water vocally and lyrically. She is not the only female artists that can play a piano; there are plenty of them out there. I do not understand what is the hype about her writing abilities since her lyrics are common and still immature; she is not an innovative writer. I would rather go for Erykah, Jill and India Ari because of their political consciousness I see their music as a movement than just gimmick. Weezy, thanks for bringing Lauryn Hill up, Alicia is nowhere near Lauryn Hill crack head or not. Still to date there is no female artist that possesses what Lauryn Hill represented Lauryn‘s lyrics were and still intellectual, when she talks, raps and sings you can tell that she is extremely intelligent, well informed and she reads a lot. She was also charismatic and inspiring; she had that IT FACTOR that no one currently possesses in the industry. On Alicia Keys I find her boring with no personality, her heavy make up, skin colour and the weaves she has been rocking lately will work for her, whereas Lauryn did not even need a weave or lighter skin colour to sell more than 20 million copies on the Miseducation alone. I must say I miss Lauryn Hill badly. I hear that she has been dating the guy who produces her albums for the past 6 years; I guess everybody *****s for tracks.

I’m light/beige/yellow etc lol I agree there is favourtism on lighter complexion. It’s sad that this is the case but I do believe she can play clasical music on a piano- thats what we call talent! If she is ugly short fat can’t sing – she can still play a piano and anyone who can deserve cridt for it.

Saw her hair when she was braiding it without straightening it, in a magazine, and it looks like she’s got plenty hair of her own even if she adds tracks which all performers do. I jus appreciate the love of music that comes through with her you get the idea that she is it not just for the fortune and fame. Mariah said in an interview that she would be singing and writing songs if she were a make-up artist or something. These women are bi-racial and the people who create the opportunities to make it in the industry are white so in that way they are blessed that they’ve got the upper hand on their dark complected sisters. But they also have been blessed to have the souls of black folks in their blood to be able to craft soul music.
