These b*tches just released the least meaningful apology ever written:

Wednesday’s Page Six cartoon – caricaturing Monday’s police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut – has created considerable controversy. It shows two police officers standing over the chimp’s body: “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill,” one officer says. It was meant to mock an ineptly written federal stimulus bill. Period. But it has been taken as something else – as a depiction of President Obama, as a thinly veiled expression of racism. This most certainly was not its intent; to those who were offended by the image, we apologize. However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past – and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback. To them, no apology is due. Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon – even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.

That cartoon was blatant in its racist intent. The sh*t should have read, “Now they’ll have to find someone else to run the NY Post.”

John Legend lit their asses up with a truthful, poignant and intelligent letter….

Dear Editor:

I’m trying to understand what possible motivation you may have had for publishing that vile cartoon depicting the shooting of the chimpanzee that went crazy. I guess you thought it would be funny to suggest that whomever was responsible for writing the Economic Recovery legislation must have the intelligence and judgment of a deranged, violent chimpanzee, and should be shot to protect the larger community. Really? Did it occur to you that this suggestion would imply a connection between President Barack Obama and the deranged chimpanzee? Did it occur to you that our President has been receiving death threats since early in his candidacy? Did it occur to you that blacks have historically been compared to various apes as a way of racist insult and mockery? Did you intend to invoke these painful themes when you printed the cartoon?

If that’s not what you intended, then it was stupid and willfully ignorant of you not to connect these easily connectable dots. If it is what you intended, then you obviously wanted to be grossly provocative, racist and offensive to the sensibilities of most reasonable Americans. Either way, you should not have printed this cartoon, and the fact that you did is truly reprehensible. I can’t imagine what possible justification you have for this. I’ve read your lame statement in response to the outrage you provoked. Shame on you for dodging the real issue and then using the letter as an opportunity to attack Rev. Sharpton. This is not about Rev. Sharpton. It’s about the cartoon being blatantly racist and offensive.

I believe in freedom of speech, and you have every right to print what you want. But freedom of speech still comes with responsibilities and consequences. You are responsible for printing this cartoon, and I hope you experience some real consequences for it. I’m personally boycotting your paper and won’t do any interviews with any of your reporters, and I encourage all of my colleagues in the entertainment business to do so as well. I implore your advertisers to seriously reconsider their business relationships with you as well.

You should print an apology in your paper acknowledging that this cartoon was ignorant, offensive and racist and should not have been printed.

I’m well aware of our country’s history of racism and violence, but I truly believe we are better than this filth. As we attempt to rise above our difficult past and look toward a better future, we don’t need the New York Post to resurrect the images of Jim Crow to deride the new administration and put black folks in our place. Please feel free to criticize and honestly evaluate our new President, but do so without the incendiary images and rhetoric.

Dear Editor:

Yeah I read the apology on CNN, but they are apologizing to some, but if you have ever had beef with the post its still ***** you. The Post LOVES all of this publicity. Their parent company is the same company that owns Fox News. Al Sharpton and empty threats are not going to affect them. They want the attention and they want people to hate them.

I personally don’t understand the black reporters in that newsroom who saw this and didn’t speak out to managers.

Second, not only the racial undertones, but a picture of a shot animal is in very very poor taste.

Whatever should the NY Post apologize for? The damage has been done! And I’m sorry, an apology will not rectify this situation or banish the cartoon’s impact! We already know where the NY Post stands on race relations and for someone to demand an apology for blatant ignorance & denial is a nuisance & futile. So, they say sorry, this just gives them justification and leverage to continue and push the envelope. The solution is simple: STOP BUYING THE NY POST!!!! In this day & age, it’s a waste of time and energy to picket & complain. All they do is twist this type of action around (notice how Rev. Sharpton has been characterized as an “opportunist”). Now is the time to stand up in silence & speak the universal language that everyone understands: $$$$$$$$$s!!!!!

Well, John Legend said it all. People should boycott the trashy publication. When they start losing readers, advertisments, and interviews, they will get the point. I know damn well no one in the Obama administration or in the DNC should give them the time of day if they EVER come seeking an interview. John Legend spoke the truth. What point were they truly tyring to get across in this printing? Maybe they were unaware of the racicial slurs that depicted monkeys as African Americans in the past. Or maybe they thought that noone would say anything, that because it is such a prestigous newspaper that they could byp***** any real drama. The apology was half-*****ed like Bossip stated. When giving an apology for something of that extent, why feel the need to express whom that apology doesnt apply to?? Is that really an important factor when you have millions of people who are offended by the drawing and do desreve the apology?? That’s how i know it was all a bag of bull*****. The very same person who they are trying depict as a battered ape lying in a pool of blood, is the same man who is now sitting in the White House as the President of the United States of America. I’m in New York. They have been boycotting for 2 days. They will continue as long as they have to. Their apology is insincere and worthless If I was in the city, I would march as well. Spike Lee has joined the protest along with Al sharpton. This kind of distasteful, racist views should not be in a newspaper.

Anyone who choses to support the Post is making an unwise choice. Not only black people are marching, there are whites as well who are protesting this vile filth. Black people have been targeted for racism by this newspaper in the past. Racist have used the terms monkeys and apes to describe black people for ages. Anyone who finds it funny is just as disdainful as the cartoonist.

I am a white female and I can obviously tell that this article was racist and uncalled for. I do believe that this is wrong and that the NY Post should face concequences for publishing something like this. I support Obama, and think that John Legend spoke the truth. I have a mixed child and I honestly believe that all men are created equal. I just don’t understand why some people have to attack all white people for one persons ignorance. I never seek out black men because I can’t have them. I go for personality. And if a man treats me right then that is all that matters, not their skin color. I have dated all races and religions. I feel like there are still people out there that sterotype ( all races do!) And untill we come together as Americans, instead of this race and that race we will all fail.

I am not black & don’t live in New York but I can clearly see this cartoon is racist. Anyone who has lived in America for more than three years and doubts the racist undertones of this cartoon is using denial like most people in the 60’s used drugs, because they couldn’t handle reality. The whole thing is reprehensible. Aside from how racist and inappropriate the cartoon was, had it ever been considered that there is woman in the hospital struggling for her life? The carton was totally insensitive and repulsive in every regard. Moreover, had a cartoonist made this strong a statement for killing then President Bush, the conservative media echo chamber would have been screaming for the illustrator’s job & life! Any comments here that speak otherwise should be deemed mere bull***** & only makes it clear it’s coming from a pack of *****weeds!!

I am based in the U.K and would like o support John Legend in the boycott of the New York Post. Am I right in understanding that Rupert Murdoch owns the Post? If so I shall be boycotting his U.K enterprises. i.e. The Times, sun newspapers. Please could you provide information on the advertiser who support the post so I may boycott them I as well. I shall be purchasing a new car in the next couple of weeks and my decision on which car I buy will be influenced by whether they support the Rupert Murdoch enterprise.

I am not surprised, the editor allowed this ad because it is how they, the POST, really feel. Now that I know who they are I will do my duty to never ever purchase their paper and to never ever even pick one up to glance at. It is evident that they did not calculate the cost on that one, ethically, legally, or financially. They failed to realize that a whole lot of african american Dr.s Lawyers, Finacial Experts, CEOs and Entertainers subscibe to their paper, then again perhaps the message was sent to all of us. Consider it well recieved.
