rihanna and neyo

The Chrihanna debacle hits close to home for Ne-Yo:

“I spoke to Rihanna. She says she’s fine. She didn’t go into detail about what happened,” Ne-Yo told MTV early this week. “That just really… that hurt me to my heart, man.” For Ne-Yo, the situation between Chris Brown and Rihanna hits close to home.

In recent years the trio has been well connected. They’ve toured together, recorded songs like “Hate That I Love You;’ and shared the stage at major events like the MTV Video Music Awards. In fact, it was Ne-Yo who sort of confirmed Brown and Rihanna’s relationship late last year, stating “They tear hair out of each other and argue. I’ve seen them kiss and make up like other couples do.”

That being said, Ne-Yo remains loyal to both stars, including Chris Brown. “I’m not going to crucify him,” says the “Miss Independent” singer. “I haven’t had a chance to talk to Chris yet. I just wanna sit down and talk to that dude and just explain if he doesn’t understand: ‘That’s not something that’s excusable, bruh. You have to get a little smarter about whatever it is going on in your relationship. You have to get a little smarter about how you handle certain situations.”

Finally. Here’s a cat who’s not afraid to admit that Breezy truly f*ked up. On a mildly lighter note, it appears as though RiRi made the best of her 21st birthday:

“Rihanna, accompanied by some pals, first went to an early showing of Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail in Santa Monica” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. “She looked beautiful. She was wearing glasses, so you couldn’t see her eyes, but she looked fine to me.”

After the movie, Rihanna hit up the Hollywood Hills for a birthday party in her honor. “People were scrambling at her feet to make sure her every wish was granted. There was birthday cake, champagne, you name it!” a party guest tells Life & Style.

And how did the songstress handle all the attention? “She was a bit shy at first and kept her glasses on most of the night. But once she saw her old crew and got used to being out, she really got into it. She was even dancing!” the party guest reveals. “You could tell she was happy to be out. She needed it.”

The party wrapped up with her friends serenading her with “Happy Birthday.” “That definitely made her smile!” the party guest says. “She’s healing and it will take time, but she still looked beautiful.”

    Yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda!

    “They tear hair out of each other and argue” – So this basically means that Ne-Yo has seen them lay hands on each other. So, why is it so hard to believe that they both have a problem? Like I said before, I am not a fan or stan or either of them, however, I believe that they both have a problem with laying hands on each other. All of the blame can’t go on Chris because he’s a man. A woman is not suppose to be laying hands on a man either.

  • mimi ni mimi

  • Lady Architect

    Bossip isn’t that interview old just like many of the others you keep posting up? Trying to still gather blog ratings? Leave Neyo alone, he’s not taking sides. Funny how when Jay Z took a side and KAnye took a side, people supported them and had nothing to say. It is inexcusable. I agree that women tests men and if a woman hits a man she should be prepared to get hit back or arrested. The law says the use of necessary force or constraint. Really unless she had a gun or a knife, Chris didn’t use necessary force. He lost it which is possible. Men need to push their pride to the side and call the cops and sue women for assault just like women do men. That’s better than beating the hell out them.

  • Reign

    If she’d gotten beaten in the face so horribly, you best believe the wounds wouldn’t be healed in 2 or 3 weeks. This chic wasn’t beaten like everyone is making it seem. But Chris definitely should have found another way to handle this, even if it meant running from her, if she was all up on him.

  • T

    Catfish-lookin’ nigga says that shit’s inexcusable, so listen!

  • JB_1030

    @ Reign,

    you bring up a good point. And since no one has seen Chris do we really know what he looks like? I heard or saw somewhere that the LAPD said he had no marks, but then again they said she was all jacked up.

  • The Truth…….aka Sweet

    Will Ne-yo and other celebrities stop commenting on the Cb and riri situation before the media dig up some skeletons in their dusty closets! Enough all really. I want the real truth in this matter, finally.

  • AvaSpeaks

    That is NOT a pic from the B-Day party. I hope you all don’t think that. I think that’s an old pic. She wouldn’t look that good this quick.

  • RE RE

    Rihanna big ass hand and head looks like the bride of frankenstein..I guarantee you she got some heavy licks in on Chris ass that night in the car remember she has two brothers who ass she kicks.

  • AvaSpeaks

    And far be it for me to defend Bossip but these stories are not as old as you think. Everyday there is a new story because everyday, there is something new in this drama.

    Like how CB is now rumored to be remove from the list of people Ciara is working with on her new album. Nobody really wants to be affilated with him right now in the industry, as far as working with him, because he is seen as tainted goods.

    If this shit blow over in a few months, and again, the public begins to soften up and forgive him, then musicians and artits will want to work with him again.

    Personally, I think that Ne-Yo is a friend to CB. It’s good that he at least still wants to talk to him to find out what happened. He doesn’t need to reprimend him like he’s a child but it’s good that at least there is somebody willing to talk to him, albeit, in a “you can’t do that shit” tone.

    Whew! Ne-Yo is probably gonna let him have it!

  • PRADA LUVS 50…

    THATS RIGHT NEYO TELL HIM ANYWAY WHOS GOING AROUND ASKIN EVERY CELEB ABOUT CHRIS N RIH LET THEM GO THE COURT 1ST ALREADY.

  • Lady Architect

    JB_1030,
    lol crocodile tears…That’s something new to me. With the laws today you gotta be careful with the “if someone hits you then hit them back” or whatever because that could be considered assault more than self defense. It’s crazy but my parents have to teach my brother that way too.

  • walli

    ENGOUH IS ENOUGH ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE DOING IS HELPING HER CAREER. I DON’T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE BUT, I DON’T RAISE MY KIDS MALE OR FEMALE TO BE ABUSERS OR TO BE ABUSED BY MALE OR FEMALE. RIRI IS NO SAINT AND IF YOU CAN THROUGH A PUNCH THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE ONE. SO PEOPLE GET LIVES AND LIVE THEM. SHE WASN’T THE FIRST PERSON MAN OR WOMAN THAT LOST A FIGHT AND SHE WON’T BE THE LAST. THIS ISH HAPPEN TO WOMEN EVERYDAY AND IT IS NOT MENTIONED BUT BECAUSE SOMEONE IS IN THE PUBLIC HER PLIGHT IS BIGGER THAN A NORMAL WOMAN PLIGHT – I THINK NOT. ALSO THERE IS A VIDEO OF JAY-Z HITTING A WOMAN BUT BECAUSE THE WOMAN IS NOT FAMOUS IT WAS ALRIGHT FOR JAY-Z TO HIT HER? GIVE ME A BREAK. UNTIL YOU TREAT ALL ABUSERS (JAY-Z) THE SAME, GET THE HELL OF CHRIS BACK.

    Sarah Goode was the first African American women to receive a U.S. patent. Patent #322,177 was issued on July 14, 1885 for a cabinet bed. Sarah Goode was the owner of a Chicago furniture store.

    Dr. Meredith Gourdine was born in Newark New Jersey on September 26, 1929, and grew up in the streets of Harlem and Brooklyn. Meredith Gourdine attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and received a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena.

    Meredith Gourdine pioneered the research of electrogasdynamics. Electrogasdynamics is a way to disperse fog and smoke. By applying strong electrical forces to either you can control those elements. He was responsible for the engineering technique termed Incineraid for aiding in the removal of smoke from buildings. His work on gas dispersion developed techniques for dispersing fog from airport runways. Meredith Gourdine also created a generator that allowed for the cheaper transmission of electricity. He held more than 40 patents for various inventions.

    Meredith Gourdine built a multi-million dollar corporation that is based on his ideas in the field of electrogasdynamics (EGD). Using the principles of EGD, Meredith Gourdine successfully converted natural gas to electricity for everyday use. Applications of EGD include refrigeration, desalination of sea water, and reducing the pollutants in smoke.

    Meredith Gourdine served on the technical staff of the Ramo-Woolridge Corporation from 1957-58. He then became a Senior Research Scientist at the Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1958-60. He became a Lab Director of the Plasmodyne Corporation from 1960-62 and Chief Scientist of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation from 1962 to 1964. In 1964, he served on the President’s Panel on Energy.

    Meredith Gourdine established a research laboratory, Gourdine Laboratories, in Livingston, New Jersey, with a staff of over 150.

    As an interesting side note, Meredith Gourdine won the silver medal in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki for the long jump. Meredith Gourdine is also blind. He died in Houston, Texas on November 20, 1998. Meredith Gourdine was serving as the president of Energy Innovation, Inc. of Houston, Texas at the time of his death.

    Roscoe L. Koontz was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1922. He graduated from Vashon High School in St. Louis. His college education at Stowes Teachers College was interrupted by a three-year hitch in the U.S. Army during World War II. While in the army, he received technical training through a special pre-engineering army training program at West Virginia State College. Upon discharge from the army in 1946, he returned to Tennessee State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

    Roscoe L. Koontz was among the first formally trained health physicists through his participation in the first Atomic Energy Health Physics Fellowship Training Program, sponsored at the University of Rochester in 1948. He designed a pinhole gamma ray camera and collimator and helped to design and fabricate automatic air and water sampling equipment and radiation activity measuring devices.

    Health physics became a recognized profession around 1942. When Roscoe L. Koontz entered the field, there were few rules and guidelines and procedures for health physicists to follow. Together with their instructors, the early students, like Koontz, originated many of today’s practices, instrumentation and techniques to protect people from the hazards of ionizing radiation.

    Granville T Woods 1856-1910
    Biography of a Black Edison
    By Mary Bellis, About.com

    Born in Columbus, Ohio, in April 23, 1856, Granville T Woods dedicated his life to developing a variety of inventions relating to the railroad industry.

    The Black Edison
    To some he was known as the “Black Edison, both great inventors of their time. Granville T Woods invented more than a dozen devices to improve electric railway cars and many more for controlling the flow of electricity. His most noted invention was a system for letting the engineer of a train know how close his train was to others. This device helped cut down accidents and collisions between trains.

    Granville T Woods – Self-Education
    Granville T Woods literally learned his skills on the job. Attending school in Columbus until age 10, he served an apprenticeship in a machine shop and learned the trades of machinist and blacksmith. During his youth he also went to night school and took private lessons. Although he had to leave formal school at age ten, Granville T Woods realized that learning and education were essential to developing critical skills that would allow him to express his creativity with machinery.
    In 1872, Granville T Woods obtained a job as a fireman on the Danville and Southern railroad in Missouri, eventually becoming an engineer. He invested his spare time in studying electronics. In 1874, he moved to Springfield, Illinois, and worked in a rolling mill. In 1878, he took a job aboard the Ironsides, a British steamer, and, within two years, became Chief Engineer of the steamer. Finally, his travels and experiences led him to settle in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he became a person dedicated to modernizing the railroad.

    Granville T Woods – Love of the Railroad
    In 1888, Granville T Woods developed a system for overhead electric conducting lines for railroads, which aided in the development of the overhead railroad system found in cities such as Chicago, St. Louis, and New York City. In his early thirties, he became interested in thermal power and steam-driven engines. In 1889, he filed his first patent for an improved steam-boiler furnace. In 1892, a complete Electric Railway System was operated at Coney Island, NY. In 1887, he patented the Synchronous Multiplex Railway Telegraph, which allowed communications between train stations from moving trains. Granville T Woods’ invention made it possible for trains to communicate with the station and with other trains so they knew exactly where they were at all times.
    Alexander Graham Bell’s company purchased the rights to Granville T Woods’ telegraphony patent enabling him to become a full-time inventor. Among his other top inventions were a steam boiler furnace and an automatic air brake used to slow or stop trains. Wood’s electric car was powered by overhead wires. It was the third rail system to keep cars running on the right track.

    At Odds With Thomas Edison
    Success led to law suits filed by Thomas Edison who sued Woods claiming that he was the first inventor of the multiplex telegraph. Woods eventually won, but Edison didn’t give up easily when he wanted something. Trying to win Granville Woods over, and his inventions, Edison offered Woods a prominent position in the engineering department of Edison Electric Light Company in New York. Woods declined preferring his independence

    The Origins of Black History Month:

    What we now call Black History Month was originated in 1926 by Carter Godwin Woodson as Negro History Week. The month of February was selected in deference to Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln who were both born in that month.

    The son of a slave, Carter G. Woodson was born in New Canton, Virginia on December 19, 1875. He began high school at the age of 20 and then proceeded to study at Berea College, the University of Chicago, the Sorbonne, and Harvard University, where he earned a Ph.D. in 1912.

    Carter G. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History in 1915 to train Black historians and to collect, preserve, and publish documents on Black life and Black people. He also founded the Journal of Negro History (1916), Associated Publishers (1922), and the Negro Bulletin (1937). Woodson spent his life working to educate all people about the vast contributions made by Black men and women throughout history. Mr. Woodson died on April 3, 1950 and Black History Month is his legacy.

    Carter G. Woodson, however, would be sad to know that out of all the hundreds of Black men and women who produced so many substantial inventions (from the development of crop rotation, the traffic light, the mail box, gas mask, fountain pen, typewriter, telegraph, golf tee, automatic gear shift, commode toilet— to the method of dry cleaning clothes, the electric lamp, and the automatic car coupler and air brake for the railroad) benefiting this country, only four Black inventors have been inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio.

    During the last four years, the Patent and Trademark Office has been working closely with the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation to rectify this situation and honor the true story of Black History.

    The four black inventors inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame are:

    George Washington Carver – Inducted in 1990
    Percy Lavon Julian – Inducted in 1990
    Mark Dean – Inducted in 1997
    James E. West – Inducted in 1999

    Chris didn’t grow up with the best examples of how man should treat their women. Yet, I remember my sister-in-law with her match-stick temper chasing my brother out his own damn house evry other week-end with a butcher knief. She has even cut him on his arm once and he never hit her dead on in her face. To this day they are still married but don’t live together. If police came– guess who got hauled off. But never, never, never hit his woman because it takes a bigger man to not kick the shit out of someone smaller than you, when you really want too.

    Maybe I should write a book about the Undercover Black History. Let me get my patent on that real quick before someone steals my idea. But then everyoen would be like that is messed up. Oh well, that will make them think twice.

    Stop making excuses for Chris. He beat a woman with closed fists on her face. He pummelled her.

My face was in pain that crap hurts like h*ll.

    I said it once and I’ll say it again, we need a black history channel devoted to showing nothing but specials on African-American doctors, lawyers, inventors, slavery, etc. they have an American History channel we need a Black History Channel

  • Sydney

    @jb

    I just read that Ms. Hamer was also sterilized by a white doctor without her knowledge nor consent as part of a program in Mississippi to reduce the number of poor blacks in the state. So sad. . .

    Info on the police beating of Ms. Hamer:

    “On June 9, 1963, Hamer was on her way back from Charleston, South Carolina with other activists from a literacy workshop. Stopping in Winona, Mississippi, the group was arrested on a false charge and jailed by white policemen. Once in jail, Hamer and her colleagues were beaten savagely by the police, almost to the point of death.”

    @elle

    Have you watched any of the black history documentaries this month on PBS? They have a pretty good line-up. In the past, I’ve watched some really interesting programs on slavery, and they were very informative.

    ANDREW JACKSON BEARD

    Railroad employees and farmers owe a big thanks to Andrew Jackson Beard. Beard was an African-American inventor and Renaissance man. Beard was born in Alabama in 1849 and spent the first 15 years of his life as a slave on a small farm. A year after he was emancipated, he married and became a farmer in a small city outside of Birmingham. After an unbearable trip to Montgomery to sell bushels of apples, Beard decided to quit the farming business and get a real job. As a result of his extensive farming experience, he was able to develop and champion his first invention, a plow. Three years later, he patented a second plow. These two inventions earned him almost $10,000 and enabled him to enter the lucrative real estate business.

    But, his most important invention wasn’t patented until 1897. It was the automatic railroad car coupler (aka the Jenny Coupler). This invention allowed two railroad cars to lock automatically by bumping into each other. Prior to this invention, a railroad employee would have to drop a bin between the two connectors of the railroad cars. Often times they could not get out in time and many lost their limbs and even their lives.
    Beard’s invention eliminated this risk. Beard was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio for his life-saving invention.

    Off topic, but has anyone heard about this new ban in Jamaica?

    Miami, FL (AHN) – The Jamaican Broadcasting Commission has banned all sexually explicit music, and music that depicts violence, from the country’s airwaves.

    The ban went into effect on Feb. 6. It covers all songs meant to promote the act of “daggering,” a dance move that simulates sexual intercourse.

    The ban includes music played on both radio and television. DJs have no leeway in the ban because the songs can’t be played even if the lewd lyrics are bleeped.

There is someone more important that he has to ask for his forgiveness from.

    The thing that is really sad about this situation is that the example the women in his life is setting. They would rather have all the money and material things that Chris throw at them than call him out on his behavior.

    mAN UNTIL I HEAR THE WHOLE STORY OR THEY GO TO COURT… CHRIS IS INNOCENT UNITL PROVEN GUILTY.

    I WAS NOT THERE.. I HAVE NO PROOF. NO WITNESS….. SHE COULD HAVE PUT AN ORANGE IN A SOCK AND WHIPPED HER DAMSELF!! WHO KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THE TIME HER LEFT HER THERE (WHICH SHOW HE DID WALK AWAY) AND WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED. I SAW THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE.

    AND ON BOTH OF THEIR BEHALF THERE IS NOT TELLING WHAT ONE CAN DO IN A FIT OF RAGE OVER LOVE!!!!

    THAT IS BASED UPON LAW AND NOT EMOTIONS FOR EITHER ONE OF THEM!!!!!!

    CHRIS REMEMBER ALL THESE FOLKS TALKING SIDEWAYS ABOUT YOU WHEN YOU ARE DOWN AND MAKE SURE THEY DON’T TRY TO RIDE THAT WAVE WHEN YOU EMERGE. FAIRWEATHER FRIENDS IN HOLLYWOOD AND NY ALL OF THEM ARE FAKE!!!!!

  • AvaSpeaks

    I don’t understand what people are talking about. Unless some crazy, super-elobarate story comes about, the fact is most likely that they got into an argument of some sort and perhaps a fight and then Chris took it way too far and injured her face.

    How hard is that to comprehend?

    The question now is why it happened and what led up to the initial injury-showing blows? That’s all the public really wants to know. Why and what happened.

    If the boy is truly sorry, like I think he is, then again, if he cares about his career, then yes he should come out in public and apologize, to the fans, the ones that buy his records. He probably already apologized to Rhianna and they probably have already talked. But she can’t buy a million records for him, so yes, he needs to come on back out and re-apologize to the fans.

    I mean things just probably got way out of control, if that’s what happened, the public wants to hear it.

    Don’t take this as condoning his behavior. Even if he gets jail time for what he did, it’s still up to the public, if he’s truly sorry and gets help, then the public will forgive him.

    Keep it in perspective… please………………

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    @ Dude…
    I guess I should just up and move to Europe then??? I’m not talking about some old, rich white man I’m talking about a young BLACK man who finds nothing wrong with abusing a young BLACK woman.
    This is definitely in perspective…alot of our very own Black men find absolutely NOTHING WRONG with beating their women. Alot of Black males are being taught that it is fine to do so!!! The females that support Chris are just showing these men it is fine to beat a woman and we will support them even if they whoop our azz!!!
    Hell no I will not let my younger sister support this jerk…I want her to know you do not support shyt like this and you should hold men to a higher standard. I don’t want her to think if a man beats you he really “loves” you…that is how alot of young girls think.
    They think it is cute that their boyfriends get mad cuss them out from time to time or physically grab them b.cuz it shows he “cares”…they think its cute.
    This is how a young girl thinks…”damn I made him go off b.cuz I got it like that”.
    Kids are watching our (our meaning adults) reaction to this situation, therefore, the way this subject is approached is serious b.cuz it is a very deep topic…like someone posted before alot of our children (teens) are in abusive relationships and they don’t even know it.
    Yeah, Chris’ mama got him a lawyer to protect his interest which is in turn her interest!! Chris is the money machine in the family!
    Not every incident needs a lawyer first especially when you’re in the public’s eye. Some incidents can be handle with a confession of guilt with legal ramifications pending.
    Chris should have apologize quickly before or very soon after the incident happened. I personally do not see a remorseful Chris!! Chris is only sorry that this beat down of Rihanna was made so public!!
    “Kids are watching our (our meaning adults) reaction to this situation, therefore, the way this subject is approached is serious b.cuz it is a very deep topic…like someone posted before alot of our children (teens) are in abusive relationships and they don’t even know it.”
    You’re absolutely right. This is a serious topic that is affecting a number of teens.
    Charles Blow, a black columnist for the New York Times, nytimes.com, recently wrote about the rise in abuse in teen relationships. Here are some info/stats cited in his column:
    “And, according to the National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center:
    Researchers have found that female youth suffer more from relationship violence, emotionally and physically. They are much more likely than males to have serious injuries and to report being terrified. In contrast, male victims seldom seem to fear violence by their dates or girlfriends, often saying that the attacks did not hurt and that they found the violence amusing.
    So why all the violence? Well, researchers don’t seem to know for sure, but the CDC’s Dating Violence Fact Sheet included these rationales:
    • Several studies suggest that adolescents do not see the negative consequences of dating violence and violence in their friends’ lives (Hotaling and Sugarman 1986). 31% of adolescents report having at least one friend who is in a violent relationship (Arriaga and Foshee 2004).
    • Acceptance of dating violence among friends is one of the strongest links to future involvement in dating violence (Bergman 1992; Arriaga and Foshee 2004).
    • Adolescents often believe that unhealthy relationships are the norm. Many relationships seen on TV, in the movies, and in magazines are unrealistic or unhealthy examples of relationships.”
  • AvaSpeaks
    I think that it would had been better if Chris had said he was sorry a little quicker too. However, if he had said it too quickly, then he still might had been tainted in the public’s eye because then he would had been admitting to a whole bunch of stuff that would had came out after he apologize. Sorta like jumping the gun.
    I just think that maybe after like two days, he should had said that he was sorry about everything that was going down, and to how this is affecting Rhianna and how hurt and sad he was about all of this.
    But still, it could had went either way. If he brings up his past then some people would had said that’s not an excuse.
    Sounds like Chris was damned all the way around.
A woman can get away with killing a man, if she just say that he put his hands on her, but if it was the other way around, you women wouldn’t have sympathy for him! YOu would say : oh, she just got tired of the abuse! it seemed justified! WTF?
    You Chris Brown stans need to chill. He don’t know you. I feel bad for Rihanna, but I’m not her stan, or Chris. Stans. All day every day like these celebrities know you because you attend a concert, buy their CD’s, and all this other stuff, but they could care less-even if you are a groupie, they do not care. You girls saying Chris Brown is your husband, produce a marriage certificate that says that. You can;’t because he’s your husband in your own deluded-stalker mind. If anything, both Chris and Rihanna need restraining orders on you psycho stans.
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    “I think one reason why some younger people seem to accept domestic violence in the relationship is because they see it at home.”
    Yes, sadly, many of them have been/are exposed to violence at home, and their relationships mimic that dysfunctional model.
    And if the behavior/acceptance isn’t corrected, that abuse may become a pattern in their adult relationships as well.
    @Mz_Magnificent
    Yes, I agree. This is an issue that cannot be downplayed or ignored. The stats among teens are at an all-time high.
    “According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance – United States, 2007, the percentage of 9th to 12th graders who say that they have been hit, slapped or physically hurt on purpose by their boyfriends or girlfriends within the last 12 months is at 9.9 percent, an all-time high.”
  • AvaSpeaks
    You know, it’s funny how some people on here are so “passionate” about domestic violence. Yet that post about what happened to Eddie Curry’s ex didn’t reach no where near the amount of posts that these Chrianna threads have been getting.
    And that was worse. He murdered her! And her child! Where’s the outrage in that?
    And we chalk that up to, “chicks get beat everyday?” WTF?
  • AvaSpeaks
    @ Sidney
    I was talking to somebody that teaches in high schools. She was saying that we may choose not to believe that Rhianna possibly has been abusing Chris, but in about 10 years, that will be a reality because as teens, these girls are abusing ALOT of their boyfriends and hook-ups.
    These kids are getting worse.
  • jb_1030
    Why is it when you ask someone a question to their post they don’t answer? Maybe they left, maybe I called them out and they can’t admit they have double standards.
    Everyone on here who still steps with R. Kelly, or Bops their head to Tupac and want to prosecute Chris before he even goes to trial, are hypocrites. I said and I will keep on saying it. If you purchased R.Kelly’s CD since he got arrested then you are a hypocrite. If you purchased Tupac album after he was released you are a hypocrite. If you didn’t get rid of Gucci’s CD you are a hypocrite. If you paid to see Mike Tyson fight you are a hypocrite. Wrong is wrong across the board.
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    Honestly, I haven’t been able to read the articles about the murders of Eddie Curry’s ex and her child. The whole matter is beyond my realm of thinking — He’s a monster. That’s the only way I can describe him.
    Yes, the stats are high among girls who are abusing boys as well. It’s as if violence has become an acceptable part of life, and I think a number of us have become desensitized to it, i.e. the comments about “women get beat every day,” “her injuries aren’t that serious,” etc.
    This is a serious issue that will only increase in scope if it is allowed to fester. The behaviors that teens exhibit now are some of the same ones they will take into their relationships when they’re adults. If you’re hitting, slapping, kicking, punching the boy/girl you’re dating when you’re young, when does it stop?
  • trying to understand why i read this sh….
    Question: Who was Mary Todd Lincoln’s close friend and confidant for most of her life? Answer: Her modiste or seamstress, Elizabeth Hobbs Keckly. Keckly was born a slave in Virginia in 1818 and was moved around and loaned out to different members of her master’s family. She was eventually moved to St. Louis, Mo., where she bought her freedom in November of 1855. Throughout her time as a slave, Keckly worked as a seamstress. Once she was emancipated she moved to Baltimore with dreams of making dresses for upper-class women and opening a school for young African-American women.
    Her Baltimore plans were unsuccessful. She then moved to the capital to try and find work. But, destitute as she was, Keckly didn’t have enough money for a license to remain in the city for more than 30 days. With the help of some of her patrons who knew the mayor of the city, Keckly found a place to stay and was eventually granted a license.
    Eventually she ended up making a dress for Robert E. Lee’s wife, sparking the rapid growth of her business. After working tirelessly to finish a dress for one of her patrons, Keckly got a call from the White House. Mrs. Abraham Lincoln was requesting an interview.
    Mrs. Lincoln hired Keckly to be her seamstress on inauguration day, March 4, 1861. Keckly became involved with the Lincoln family. She comforted Mrs. Lincoln when her sons passed away, and when dealing with the day-to-day difficulties of being a president’s wife. Mrs. Lincoln leaned on Kecklyeven more after the death of her husband. When Mrs. Lincoln fell on hard times after President Lincoln’s death, Keckly had an idea to write a book to help her friend financially and to clear her good name.
    With her book, “Behind the Scenes: Thirty Years a Slave, and Four Years in the White House,” Keckly intended to show the world that Mary Todd Lincoln was misunderstood. But advertisers labeled it as a ‘literary thunderbolt’ and a tell-all book by a black woman who had no business talking about the former first lady. Lincoln felt betrayed, and Keckly’s sewing business suffered. She continued to work as a seamstress and teach young African-American women the trade. Keckly later accepting a faculty position at Wilberforce University and organized a dress exhibit for the Chicago World’s Fair.
    Keckly’s gowns are displayed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
    Yes this is true. Not to mention that Chrianna are in that group. These “19″ and “21″ years old are much different now than when I was in college. And I am only 32.
    I look at some of my younger sorors and I think to myself, how in the heck did you get in my magnificant sorority? I mean the way they act, the way the young guys are acting. It’s completely diffent and some of them accepting CB mistake as norm, it’s heartbreaking.
    My only defense of CB is that this is probably a situation that got out of control and he got out of control. He should get help and he is most likely completely devasted and sorrowful about his horrible mistake. But forgiveness and the chance to learn from this is possible. He can change and better his life.
    It just seems like either some people here are saying “Rhi deserved it” or “provoked him” or they go the other extreme and say CB should be throw in jail and punished severely. Like he committed the worse crime in the world.
    Despite Tiger Woods iconic status, it’s safe to say the Professional Golf Association hasn’t always been in love with African-Americans.
    One of the first African-Americans to play in the PGA was Dewey Brown. He became a member of the PGA in 1928. Brown learned the game as a caddie and became a renowned club designer and teacher during the 1920s and 30s. He even crafted a set of clubs for President Warren G. Harding. In 1934, the PGA terminated Brown’s membership because they found out he was African-American. During the six years he was a member, everyone assumed he was white because of his light skin color.
    Brown was not the only black American in the golf world in the early part of last century. George Grant, a dentist from Boston, designed the first golf tee registered by the United States Patent Office in 1899. John Shippen was the first black American to play in the United States Open, in 1896, even though some competitors threatened to withdraw. And Joseph Bartholomew, a noted architect, designed and built more than a half-dozen golf courses in the New Orleans area. But because he was black, Bartholomew was not allowed to play on the courses he built.
    So make an apology for making a criminal threat. Then ooh now I have mroe charges let me get a lawyer now. Why would you wait to get a lawyer when you got arrested and charged with one crime? That doesn’t make sense. So you are saying let him go to court on March 5th without a lawyer and when tehy make more charges then he can say oh I want a lwayer before I make me plead. Naw partna, I going with my lawyer when I turn myself in, when I go to make my plea and anything else I may need to do with the court proceedings.
    Just this Sunday, a woman in Maryland was shot to death by her estranged husband outside her church. He is being held without bond. The victim had asked her husband to leave their home last week.
    The details of their marriage haven’t been disclosed, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if abuse was part of her daily reality.
    This is why a so-called “dust-up” or “fight that went too far” cannot be ignored, in my book. It is a pattern for abuse to develop and worsen over time.
  • AvaSpeaks
    No, I’m not one of those people that call R.Kelly “Chester” than buy his music…I can’t stand him and I think he belongs behind bars. Especially, after he named HIMSELF the Pied Piper…I was too through.
    Its not hard for me to not support someone that is obviously making a mockery of not only themselves but their supporters as well. As for the “innocent until proven guilty” plea…I guess you don’t know that our so-called “public officials” can be bought off.
    Many judges, lawyers, and congressman are child molesters and women abusers themselves…who do you think is participating in underground concierges to go on trips to Thailand to sleep with children away from the media or using services that provide women who has been kidnapped and sold into underground sex trade organizations????
    Certainly not Joe-Smoe that lives next door…its the folks with alot of money or power. Lets not get too deep into this b.cuz I can seriously go all day…
    @ Ava
    But I am questioning why does he need to apologize for anything before he is formally charged? Why does he need to publically say he is sorry for anything. This is a private matter for two people who have not made one comment. So if it comes out thatthe “Victim”, Rhianna did something first, do you require her apology too? Did you require one from the Tupac, R. Kelly, Michael jackson, Gucci, Mike Tyson? Especially before they went to court?
    My point is everyone wants him to apologize to us. What ifhe already did it to her in private? We don’t don’t what is really going on. Only what these sites put out and sometimes they are not true.
  • AvaSpeaks
    @ Sidney
    You could be right. I mean didn’t in the earlier reports they were saying that Rhianna told the police that the abuse was “escalating”?
    So again, I see no other way around this. If Chris wants to save his career, then he needs to re-apologize from his own lips and get serious and focus and start to get professional help and devote his time and effort to domestic and family violence issues.
    Then in time, if he is sincere, which I’m sure he will be, the public will forgive him. He can still produce and write songs and act in the meantime. But to get back to the level of growing success that he was experiencing in music, I don’t think that can be done without an sincere apology.
    With all of the “facts” that we know, plus who knows what Rhianna MAY say later on, the damage is being done too much. Don’t you think?
    Because in the public’s eye, her beating him is just “rumors”. It doesn’t matter if she has been beating his ass everyday since the 4th of July, she didn’t bruise up his face and leave him in a car. That’s how the PUBLIC is looking at it. Not me or you, but the ones that directly affect his career.
    @AvaSpeaks
    Yes, I agree that Chris Brown should focus on working through his issues, and I think that should take top priority above all else, including a rumored reconciliation with Rihanna (plus, he’s facing a court date). And I believe that Rihanna would benefit from counseling as well.
    As far as his public image, yes, the damage has been done. However, the black community is known for bestowing forgiveness freely and unconditionally, so he will still have a following.
    These are only my opinions.
    Man. It would be awesome if ever went as hard at their neighbors as they are going at Chris Brown. Dude was wrong, yeah, but I hope everyone that is all, “he should apologize, he needs to pay, he needs jesus” don’t have any friends, relatives or neighbors being struck by their significant other. If so, helping them out before worrying about Chris Brown and Rhianna would make the world a better place.
  • NYC Gal
    Why does he have to apologize for making Criminal threats? That is the original charge. How many times have you said ooh I could kill him or her?
    @NYC
    So make an apology for making a criminal threat. Then ooh now I have mroe charges let me get a lawyer now. Why would you wait to get a lawyer when you got arrested and charged with one crime? That doesn’t make sense. So you are saying let him go to court on March 5th without a lawyer and when tehy make more charges then he can say oh I want a lwayer before I make me plead. Naw partna, I going with my lawyer when I turn myself in, when I go to make my plea and anything else I may need to do with the court proceedings.
    Good point, but yes I do still think he can have a crossover career. Again, as what, I don’t know.
    I mean Kerry Washington and Sanaa Latham has been in “crossover” movies, yet are they hugh crossover stars? Not really.
  • The Third Eye
    Rihanna is already cross over. I don’t think it’s going to make her an untouchable superstar like Madonna. At the end of the day she is still going to have to have talent to reach that status.
    She’ll be a Janet. People will give her more hype, but she’ll be capable of falling. Everybody knew Chico De Barge was beating Janet, but it doesn’t stop her current records from flopping.
    People are empathetic toward Rihanna but she can’t half step and still expect great results.
    I’m no Beyonce stan, but aint nobody gonna feel that damn sorry for her ass to make her reach that status either without hard work.
    My Point of View on Cross Over Success
    It’s definitely good for your bank account, but the fans you’ll have ain’t shit. They’ll trash you once you make even the tiniest blunder, gain weight, age, star in one bad movie, have one flop album, or face an obstacle in life. Whitney, Mariah, Janet, and Michael are living examples.
    They damn near ex communicated Mariah after Glitter and her melt down, but when she dropped The Emancipation of MiMi they all was on her shit and singing We Belong Together.
    They didn’t support Whitney during her drug abuse and marriage to Bobby Brown.
    Janet was done after the superbowl event. But let that have been Madonna and the feminists and fans would have had her back. And what flack did J. Timberlake catch?
    Well, Michael screwed his own self lol. And so did Chris.
    As an African American I even find it hard to stand behind Chris. I just hopes he gets help.
  • AvaSpeaks
    And let’s think about this.
    Some of these celebs that have and come back from their alcohol and drug addictions, let’s not forget the physical and domestic abuse that some of their spouses or significant other goes through as well. We don’t ever hear about those stories till we hear it on E! or VH-1.
    That’s exactly why Angie Stone said what she said on BlackVoices.com. There are probably alot more people going thru some “hands-on” experience in this industry. Are we gonna expose them all? are we gonna have the same reaction that we are having to Chrianna?
    It has been widely rumored for years that Lenny Kravitz cheated on Lisa and that was the downfall for their marriage. Yet, we love us some Lenny. And hell, he became a bigger star after that.
    Celebdom is funny. Who knows what may happen to both Chris and Rhianna after this. Rhianna ain’t no guarantee.
    Ashanti anyone? I remember when they named her, “Princess of Hip Hop & R&B”
  • Lady Shady
    Can Rhianna top Good Girl Gone Bad?
    My prediction for Rhianna’s 4th joint is that it’s gonna sell like madness, only on the strength of this last album and the scandal. But again, will her 5th joint sell?
    It may or may not happen.
    Lenny’s 4th album Circus sold on the strenght of Are You Gonna Go My Way, but it wasn’t as good.
    Rihanna has a difficult road ahead of her too because she can’t be dwelling on the abuse in every magazine, TV talk show, newspaper and every song. She herself needs counseling because if she gets into another abusive relationship and catch another beat down. The sympathetic public won’t be too sympathetic the second time around!
  • The Third Eye
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    I don’t know how true this is, but I read that Rihanna didn’t want to come forward about this incident — her mother convinced her to work with the police (again, this is unconfirmed). Also, her actions now indicate that she still has strong feelings for Brown, which is pretty common in abusive relationships. Often, women return to their boyfriends/husbands, and the cycle continues. They may feel some level of guilt, as if they somehow deserve blame in the matter (and this goes back to the battered women’s syndrome).
    I have a strong suspicion that Rihanna probably won’t want to address this publicly, particularly if she still holds Brown in high affection. But who knows?
    Halle was pretty open about discussing the mistreatment she experienced in her relationships/marriage, and I thought it was a double-edged sword.
  • Sydney
    You know, I don’t know about Halle.
    I mean the word is out on her and how she is kinda “nutty” when it comes to the men.
    I’m gonna believe my frat over her, lol! I don’t know. I’m just kidding. You gotta watch those Omegas :)
  • The Third Eye
    I thought we had Lisa’s back. We talk about how ghetto she is, but that’s us keeping it real. But when it came down to how she was done by that dude we was behind her–I thought.
    Jaunita Bryum. I wasn’t into that all that much so I don’t know.
    Lisa Lopes went the wrong route. She was a victim and then decided to get even instead of seeking justice the legal way. We just took her as crazy ass Lisa but we still had love for her.
  • AvaSpeaks
    @ Sidney
    Here is the thing though, will Rhianna still want to be with Chris if he is not “hot” anymore?
    I mean this is a serious question to answer. After this, she might be able to get pretty much anybody she wants, maybe even Shia. Who’s to say she is going to stay with Chris if his career tanks after this mess?
  • The Third Eye
    Halle may be a little off. I don’t know the girl, but I have alot of biracial friends and they tend to be a little coo coo sometimes.
    I’m just sayin. That’s just a small percentage. I ain’t saying all biracial people are nutz, so PLEASE nobody take offense to that.
  • The Third Eye
    @Ava
    I think Rihanna will still want Chris even if he aint hot. Battered woman syndrome is stronger than Hollywood jump offs.
  • AvaSpeaks
    @ The Third Eye
    Exactly! We took Lisa Lopes as “crazy-ass” Lisa. But it’s funny how when the woman gives the shit, it’s keeping it real.
    But if the man retailates, like let’s say lil’ breezy, then it still abuse!
    The double standards are hilarious! I was reading somewhere about some people trying to make a “Violence Against Women” law.
    But nobody mad mention of a “Violence Against Men” or “Violence Against Spouses” law.
    I’m telling you, if Phil Hartman could speak from his grave. I guess some people would say that it’s his fault he got shot because he was a man and he should had left.
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    So you’re a Delta? :)
    The “crazy” label for Halle is the double-edged sword I was referring to — It seemed the more she talked about her relationship troubles, the more some people formed an opinion about her own stability.
    If Rihanna truly “loves” Chris, it doesn’t matter whether he’s “hot” or not. In some cases of abusive relationships, the woman sticks by her significant other, no matter what. I think many people are in co-dependent relationships, and they need outside assistance in breaking free of unhealthy entanglements.
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    Vice President Joe Biden drafted the Violence Against Women Act, and it’s a big reason why many women’s groups supported his vp nomination last year.
    The Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA) is a United States federal law. It was passed as Title IV, sec. 40001-40703 of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 HR 3355 and signed as Public Law 103-322 by President Bill Clinton on September 13, 1994. It provided $1.6 billion to enhance investigation and prosecution of the violent crime perpetrated against women, increased pre-trial detention of the accused, imposed automatic and mandatory restitution on those convicted, and allowed civil redress in cases prosecutors chose to leave unprosecuted.
    VAWA was drafted by Senator Joe Biden’s office with support from a number of advocacy organizations including Legal Momentum and The National Organization for Women, which described the bill as “the greatest breakthrough in civil rights for women in nearly two decades.”
  • AvaSpeaks
    @ Sydney
    Yes I am :)
    You know peeps, I was just reading this article dated like 2/9 about how “obsessed” Rhianna was with Chris. Let me see if I can find it.
    I was beginning to hear about some obsessive behavior that she was exhibiting toward him in the past couple of months. In the article, it was saying that she was really co-dependent on him.
    However
    It was saying that like for example, if he goes away for a second, she’s wondering where he is, or if he isn’t with her, then she’s calling him trying to find out where he is. She needed to him to be around her all the time, etc.
    That last part doesn’t quite sound like someone getting abused. Does it? I mean if I’m getting abused, I don’t think I would be looking for him to be next TO ME, every second.
  • The Third Eye
    @ Ava
    Some abusers brainwash their victims into thinking they need them to survive and they’re nothing without them, so I kind of disagree with you on that note.
    And her fame did blow up during the time she got with him, she would believe it IF that’s the case.
    And there is a syndrome where even the abducted, captive, or hostage can even relate to captor and even learn to SERIOUSLY love the captor no matter how they’re treated.
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    That’s the way some women function in abusive relationships, as irrational as it may sound. I’ve also seen interviews with police officers who work domestic violence cases, and sometimes, the victim lashes out at them when they attempt to take her abuser into custody. There’s a destructive co-dependency at play, IMHO.
    I just found this online about battered women’s syndrome, btw:
    There are generally four stages in the battered women’s syndrome.
    Stage One–Denial
    Stage one of battered women’s syndrome occurs when the battered woman denies to others, and to herself, that there is a problem. Most battered women will make up excuses for why their partners have an abusive incident. Battered women will generally believe that the abuse will never happen again.
    Stage Two–Guilt
    Stage two of battered women’s syndrome occurs when a battered woman truly recognizes or acknowledges that there is a problem in her relationship. She recognizes she has been the victim of abuse and that she may be beaten again. During this stage, most battered women will take on the blame or responsibility of any beatings they may receive. Battered women will begin to question their own characters and try harder to live up their partners “expectations.”
    Stage Three-Enlightenment
    Stage three of battered women’s syndrome occurs when a battered woman starts to understand that no one deserves to be beaten. A battered woman comes to see that the beatings she receives from her partner are not justified. She also recognizes that her partner has a serious problem. However, she stays with her abuser in an attempt to keep the relationship in tact with hopes of future change.
    Stage Four–Responsibility
    Stage four of battered women’s syndrome occurs when a battered woman recognizes that her abuser has a problem that only he can fix. Battered women in this stage come to understand that nothing they can do or say can help their abusers. Battered women in this stage choose to take the necessary steps to leave their abusers and begin to start new lives.
  • AvaSpeaks
    @ NYC
    I agree with you. I don’t think Chris needs to go to jail either. Now I know some people think he does, but I don’t. I don’t think he is an abuser.
    BUT
    When I say he should make another apology, I mean a heartfelt one too. No bs. I believe that he is sorry but he just needs some help in realizing there is a better way to correct this mistake.
    Maybe somebody like a Steve Harvey or a T.I. or even his “friend” Ne-Yo can help him with this. Maybe he needs to take Will Smith on his offer for help.
    That way he can come out a better person. That’s why I say, if all of what you and I say he does, then yes he can come back. Maybe not singing and “pop lockin” but he can come back better. That’s all I’m saying.
  • AvaSpeaks
    Are there stages or terms for someone like Chris, who has seen abuse?
  • Sydney
    @The Third Eye
    “And there is a syndrome where even the abducted, captive, or hostage can even relate to captor and even learn to SERIOUSLY love the captor no matter how they’re treated.”
    There’s a name for that condition, and it’s escaping my memory right now. I think that was part of the Patty Hearst case back in the 70′s.
  • Sydney
    @AvaSpeaks
    Yes, as I saw written last week in a very insightful column on CNN.com, children who witness abuse are also abused. There are many repercussions to children being exposed to violence. More below:
    A Cycle of abuse is abuse that occurs in a repeating pattern. Abuse is identifiable as being cyclical in two ways: it is both generational and episodic. Generational cycles of abuse are passed down, by example and exposure, from parents to children. Episodic abuse occurs in a repeating pattern within the context of at least two individuals within a family system. It may involve spousal abuse, child abuse, or even elder abuse.
    A son, who is repeatedly either verbally or physically abused by his father, will predictably treat his own children in the same way. When a daughter hears her mother frequently tear down, belittle, and criticize her father, she will adapt a learned behavior which involves control through verbal abuse. Similarly, a child who witnesses his parents engaging in abusive behaviors toward one another, will very likely subject his or her spouse to the same abusive patterns. These are examples of generational abuse.
  • The Third Eye
    @ Sydney
    Thanks. I couldn’t remember the term to save my life. Are you a psychology major?
    @ Ava
    Okay, don’t judge me peoples.
    For Chris as a person I don’t think he’s an abuser he is boy or young man who lost his temper and made a mistake. I know abuse was in his home but I don’t think it was even factor in this case. He may want to seek anger management and counseling to be safe. And I don’t want him to be jailed.
    Chris as celebrity: He needs to seek life long counseling for damage control and save his career. He doesn’t need to be jailed. And I hope he can persevere.
    And keeping it real: I know if this was a non-celebrity I’d be like jail that foo.
  • Sydney
    @The Third Eye
    LMAO, no, but I’ve actually been asked that before, or been told that I should have entered that field.
    I just found the name of the syndrome, by the way, and Wiki cites Patty Hearst as an example:
    Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response sometimes seen in abducted hostages, in which the hostage shows signs of loyalty to the hostage-taker, regardless of the danger or risk in which they have been placed. The syndrome is named after the Norrmalmstorg robbery of Kreditbanken at Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm, Sweden, in which the bank robbers held bank employees hostage from August 23 to August 28 in 1973. In this case, the victims became emotionally attached to their victimizers, and even defended their captors after they were freed from their six-day ordeal. The term “Stockholm Syndrome” was coined by the criminologist and psychiatrist Nils Bejerot, who assisted the police during the robbery, and referred to the syndrome in a news broadcast.[
    I think one of Chris’ biggest regret is going to be not giving a full out, well staged news conference as soon as possible. Trust me. This would have helped him. Now it’s too late.     As much as the public can be tough on you, they also love to see you redeem yourself. Chris should’ve thought about the bigger picture. in the news conference, he could’ve talked about taking full responsibility for his actions, acknowledging he was at fault and feeling ashamed.
    Even if he still felt Rihanna had some responsibility in her own beat down (total B.S.), this was about saving his amazing career at 19 years old. 10 years from now he wouldn’t care about Rihanna, but still would’ve had his career.
    Bottomline. Chris waited to long to amend his wrongs in the public eye. Rihanna’s career will be more than fine IF she stays away from Chris.
    But Chris should have come out in public and apologized. Now look what’s happened…dude is done.
    I agree with you. I don’t think Chris needs to go to jail either. Now I know some people think he does, but I don’t. I don’t think he is an abuser.
    BUT
    When I say he should make another apology, I mean a heartfelt one too. No bs. I believe that he is sorry but he just needs some help in realizing there is a better way to correct this mistake.
    Maybe somebody like a Steve Harvey or a T.I. or even his “friend” Ne-Yo can help him with this. Maybe he needs to take Will Smith on his offer for help.
    That way he can come out a better person. That’s why I say, if all of what you and I say he does, then yes he can come back. Maybe not singing and “pop lockin” but he can come back better. That’s all I’m saying.
    ===================================================
    Chris is an abuser! Chris needs to acknowledge this if he truely wants help!
    Professional help is not getting advice from Steve Harvey, Will Smith, Ne-Yo and surely not someone like TI whose about to do time!
    Professional help is an intensive introspective analysis of your entire life done by a qualified therapist for aleast(in the case of Chris)2 or 3 days/week for 5+ years! Including visiting to domestic violence centers and doing therapy with his mom, dad and step dad present. If he doesn’t accept some type arrangement like this, he needs to explore his other option… doing time in jail for aleast 3 years!
    All this should be done before he thinks about showing his damn face in front my TV!!
    what exactly does make a man an abuser?
  • Sydney
    Hey, Blaq!
    @The Third Eye
    LOL, I’ve learned some things on here myself. It depends on the topic.
    I recall hearing a mention of the syndrome during an episode of Law & Order — a girl who had been raped identified with her attacker — and I found it very interesting.
    @Claroliza
    I thought the same thing in the past week. I don’t know who his publicist is, but the key is timeliness in crisis communications. You can’t wait for days and then put out a tepid statement — without any mention of Rihanna’s name — and expect to have much of an impact. And it was transparent that it was written by someone else, particularly with the line about the pastor.
  • blaq
    @ syd
    I am sure Chris attorneys have advised him not to speak in detail about the incident, and to not make apologies for something he has yet to be convicted of. Has he been charged with assault or just making threats?
  • Chris Brown
    Man, she gave me herpes guys! Wouldn’t you beat her up???
  • Sydney
    @blaq
    As far as I know, he is charged with making a threat.
    I don’t know — That statement just seemed so contrived and robotic. I realize the legal ramifications of disclosing more, but couldn’t they have at least issued a short statement sooner?
  • The Third Eye
    @ Sydney
    LOL, I love me some Law & Order. And you’re so right about Breezy’s publicists. Why ain’t they on their J-O-B. I’d fire her quick, but that probably look good at this time.
    Chris needs to lay low, announce he seeking long-term anger management and counseling and add a sincere apology. Stay relevant through appearances on the red carpet for award shows. Take the back lash from interviewers, be somewhat open about what’s going on in his counseling. Drop a inspirational (not gospel) album (no crumping, no poplocking in the video, or video hoes), and share his obstacles on Oprah, not reality Tv because it’s tacky and it can be edited by his people. All this should be completed no later than 2012 or no earlier than 2011.
  • Sydney
    @The Third Eye
    Yes, I love Detective Goren. It was one of his cases. :)
    LOL @ your plan of action
    He should hire you!
    Except I don’t know about Oprah having him on — She won’t even grant interviews to most rappers, and anyone on Gayle’s s**t list is probably on hers, too, don’t you think?
  • The Third Eye
    @ Sydney
    I forgot Gayle trashed him. Yeah, Oprah is pretty much out the question until Gayle says it okay. If I was publicist I guess we’d just have to settle for Tyra lol.
    But I guess that ain’t bad. Demographically speaking, his fans probably watch her show more than they watch Oprah.
  • blaq
    @ sydney
    no they are going to try and get him off. Then he hope Rhianna will come stand by his side thus encouraging public forgiveness and eventually the return to grace. Kobe had to get his wife to stay and shoot out a couple of youngins now he’s pretty much back where he started. The fact the victim was questionable didn’t hurt either, Chris wasn’t that lucky. Even if he does get off if she doesnt publically forgive him it’s a rap. If she does forgive him I think her popularity will take a major hit. Lastly pop stars are only that for so long. Chris is not a writer, producer who can stay in the biz on a low key and every time he’s mentioned that picture is going to pop up.
  • ?
    Didnt Rihanna let people speculate about her injuries and think the worse? She didnt say anything until the photo came out. If those photos werent leaked she probably wouldnt have said anything. And her statement was also NOT written by her and also RELEASED by her PR people.
    And if Chris decides to seek counseling that is no ones business by his. He doesnt HAVE TO disclose that to the public.
    AND while Im on it who is going to determine how sincere his apology is? Whos qualified for that job? Any one here a mind reader?
    I guess some people just like a good ol fashion witch hunt.
  • NYC Gal
    AvaSpeaks
    @ NYC Gal
    Do you mean the Black public or the non-Black, crossover public?
    If Rhianna got into another abusive relationship, they would feed her to the wolves! People would be calling her all kinds of names. It would be horrible.
    Or she could come out again looking like a helpless victim.
    Who knows what’s going to happen with her. But 2009 is going to probably turn out to be a good year for her, career-wise.
    ===================================================
    WTF? I am talking about the general American public! The same one that voted for or against our President in the elections!!
    I really believe that Rihanna should seek professional counseling too! She needs to address the issue of defending an abuser, staying with an abuser, accepting abuse and dealing with abuse!!
    If she uses this incident to line her pockets or for publicity it will back fire on her! She needs to either write a book about her experience and donate ALL profits to domestic violence centers. Then do an interview about picking up, seeking help and moving on with life. The interview should never be for sympathy, pity or publicity.
    Also, she could privately donate her time or give money to domestic violence centers but it should never be done to get publicity for her upcoming projects!
    Rihanna must also become media savvy because she constantly talking about her abuse is $$$$ for the media! If the abuse is brought up in each interview, she needs to refer the interviewer to her book or her first interview and then say “I don’t want to discuss it while promoting my album or project”.
  • Sydney
    @The Third Eye
    Yeah, I can definitely see him on Tyra.
    @Blaq
    I thought of Kobe’s news conference with his wife.
    Spitzer did the same thing when he was caught red-handed.
    So did Kwame Kilpatrick.
  • spill
    I’m starting to think this relationship really wasn’t real to begin with..but actually was a ploy to build Rihanna and especially Chris’ career.
    Notice how the couple started coming out publically last year almost to the day of the attack, right around the Grammys and Clive Davis’ party??? HMMMMM.
    If their relationship was a ploy, agreed in advance that it would run for one year, it worked too well–they made too good a couple! Far from hating, the public actually loved them and expected them to stay together and maybe even get married someday!! I’m sure they slept together and maybe even fell “in love.” They were so perfect together!
    But Chris is ONLY 19. Too young, much too young for such a heavy commitment for such a young, rich, famous, and good looking young man, who has honeys (men and women!) all over the world literally hangin from his dcik!
    He wanted to end the relationship, as per the terms of the original agreement, but Rihanna didn’t. As the end of the agreement neared, she started to pressure him more and more, he always felt pressured by this situation he was not ready for (even though he was hittin it!), and he tried to hold her to the plan because she “knew it wasn’t a relationship” and it was over as agreed! But Rihanna wasn’t trying to hear that, because they were so great together and were so “in love….”
    We know how guys get when girls try to turn a FB relationship into a real one, right? It doesn’t work!! How you started up is how you gotta end up in a situation like that.
    If Rihanna was older and wiser, she would have let Chris go, started dating other people, and let him come back to her on his own when he was ready. Oh, she’d have to close her legs (to Chris) also:)
    Due to the extraordinary pressures of this fake situation, feeling trapped and enraged Chris lost his patience and temper and blew!!
    The rest is history.
    Get well Rihanna, you didn’t deserve this. Can’t wait to see you back out there lil mama.
    Chris get it together and make the amends needed to salvage your career. You’re too talented to let it all go down the drain like this.
    This is just my .02 — any thoughts??
  • The Third Eye
    @ Spill
    I heard this talk before. It sounds believable just due to the fact there was ploy to make it seem as if her and Jay had a “thing” to elevate her career. Which she supposedly had no idea about.
  • spill
    Hey Third Eye
    Yeah, I do not condone what happened in any way, shape or fashion
    And Chris may, in fact, have some deep seated issues
    But I really don’t think he is an abuser, I think he got in over his head and then when he tried to get out he totally fcuked up
    I wish the DA would come on out with the charges they plan to pursue so these kids can figure out what’s up and get their lives back on track..come what may
  • spill
    @ trying to understand
    I don’t know whether this theory is true, and so don’t have all the details, but it fits, doesn’t it?
    If you look at the pictures of that night, Chris was clearly off, he was not into Rihanna AT ALL.
    I was just looking at all their pics on Getty Images (part of the grieving process of letting them go! Such a CUTE couple, I was a huge fan), when I noticed that the first pics of them that came out officially were of them together at …. Clive Davis’ party!! HMMMM…ding ding ding.. too coincidental..and the theorizing began from there..
    I think Chris was finally done with this fake relationship, the year was up, and he was takin Rihanna’s azz home as planned that evening when he probably did get a text/call from a jump off..he was being out about his shyt cause he and Rihanna were no longer together any way shape form or fashion, and he was glad as hail cause even though he cared for Rihanna and he had enjoyed tappin that azz, he could not wait to get into some new p*ssy and be single and free, and simply kirked the hell OUT when Rihanna tried to cock block and continue to pressure him to death to stay with her when he is not 29 but 19…
    Again, this is just my 2 cents
    Should Rihanna have been beaten for that? Hell no
    Should Chris go to jail for this incident? Don’t know, Imma need the DA to bring out the charges so I can evaluate them
    Let me play the devil’s advocate on police abuse. Police have the right to beat down an unarmed black man only if provoked!
    An unarmed black man that ended up with bruises like Rihanna’s wasn’t really abused because it took only two weeks to heal and he was on TV walking and talking.
    Real police abuse is when the victim is either six feet deep or on life support! An unarmed black man that start shyt got to be able to handle shyt!
    Police abuse is not serious shyt because the police is the law and they have the final say!
    I hope that all the idiots who keep using the refrain “keep your hands to yourself” know that you sound like a bunch of morons with a 4th grade education. That little phrase does not do justice to the magnitude of what domestic violence is about.
    In the event that Rihanna did get physical with Chris, there is still no justifying the brutal beating that she got. and please don’t tell me it wasn’t that bad. Maybe in your crazy ass upbringing in order for a beating to be bad you need to end up in a coma.
    look. I am grown enough to know that Chris and Rihanna loved the drama in their relationship. I’m sure it was the first time they both were in love and I am sure their chemistry, connection and sex life was on point. IMO, it looks like CB was the one who ar first was really into RiRi. Then the tables turned and she got more into him. But that happens in any relationship.
    Unfortunately, a line was crossed by Chris.
    I will be honest and say that maybe if he slapped her or smacked her around I would have been more forgiving. Again, these 2 seem like they had a very passionate relationship.
    But a full beatdown complete with sending you to the hospital and leaving you on the side of the street.
    that is dysfunctional…it’s no longer passionate or volatile. It’s brutal abuse.
    Um spill…I have a lot of what ifs & maybes this or that going around in my head since I read your piece. I have looked at a lot of pictures. When the rumors of marriage started, that’s when things started to change big time…so of all the stories I’ve heard and read yours is the most plausible all the way around.
    Now I’m wondering if he’s charged more harshly on a lie, (knowing she hit him first) will she step forward. Or will she let him swing and take the beating from his lawyers and his PR team? Will the stories start about her character (coming from everyone and their momma that has a tale)?
    Because the digging has begun and no matter who she is, his lawyers are going to try to save HIM. Also, I find it curious that the younger women in the industry are being kind of silent. Hmm… g’ night.
