I was just thinking sex tourism is merely an extension of imperialism and colonization. I’ve always wondered why whites go to far away countries to sleep with blacks or others. I think these people are disgusting, they spread disease and also go to places where STDs and mainly AIDS runs rampad. Firstly, they can’t find anyone to sleep with them for free in their own country, let alone a prostitute. They rather spend thousands of dollars to go across the world to sleep with someone of another race. It’s exotic to them. I believe that they do it because they like to go to places where they feel like they are king, not that they aren’t the ruling class here, but they are forced to give others civil rights, so it’s refreshing to go to a place where they value whiteness and they will feel like they are being put on a pedestal. I know all too many Brazilians that will throw themselves all over ANY white person that comes their way. I know that this is often because they may just want U.S. citenzenship or Euro citenzenship, but also many may have to do demoralizing things just to feed their families. I know not all countries are like this. But many people around the world think that only whites have money and that whites are their saviours. Also, they have a very exoticized view of foreign blacks. Since they don’t really see any of the social issues facing those blacks they often thhink everything is peachy or they wonder why blacks back home are not so “friendly”.

This was happening before, during and after slavery and colonization. The sad thing is that it doesn’t seem to bother black people that they are still being treated as objects to taken rather than human beings…

The fact that some “men” on here are cosigning with this behaviour is an inkling of what is wrong with black people the world over…

If these same black men read about the history of how their ancestors were sexualized, sexually exploited and dissected like animals for white imperialism and the justification of slavery, I wonder if they would still think it’s a normal thing…

It doesn’t seem to bother Jamaicans or any other “exotic” location is designed mainly as a whites’ paradise and that well-off black people that engage in similar behaviour have become part of the problem, who themselves had the same thing done to their own ancestors…

White girl brings up another good point. Black folks are poor in the states and how often have you heard of this happening? How many black people on here were raised in middle class homes? So if some rich white woman from Europe gives them $20 and buys them some clothes for a weekend of “companionship” (sex)… they grab it, understandably. I completley agree with you. I think the black race is beautiful, talented, creative, and intelligent. Everything they’ve brought to this country’s culture as a whole has been worthwhile, even if it is negative (I’m thinking gangsta rap here..at least it gets us talking about bringing it back to the positive). I’m not criticizing. As I have said before go back and read the entire article. What I typed is what the men participating in this said. They get to live like rich white people. You know what I have heard about this book but I am very careful with the things I let in my body. Trash in trash out. What I mean by that is I have had a lot of people to tell me to read this and that and all the books is about is hate. “Ohh look at all the stuff the white man has done to us…” Just like white girl I KNOW racism exists, we all know this, but I also know that not all people are racist. I don’t know exactly what this book is about but I will check it out. Anger and hatred can spread like a wild fire. That’s why I stay positive and try to stay unbiased.

IMO the best hip-hop CD this year was Consequence’s “Don’t Quit Your Day Job.” It got zero burn on radio…even though it had Kanye and John Legend on a couple tracks. I could go into the historical/cultural/socio-economic/racial impacts of why good hip-hop gets lost in the shuffle these days, but I won’t. I just say go cop the Consequence album.

Now, Richard is right. In West Memphis, Arkansas, a white cop shot a 12 year old boy to death! The cop said he did not know the boy was 12, and he said the boy had a toy gun he mistook for a real gun. The boy’s family says Daunte Farrow did not have a gun, but a bag of chips and a soda pop! Some suspect the gun was planted since this department is known for planting flase evidence on black people who are arrested in this town to get conviction. The Courts ruled that the cop would NOT BE CHARGED FOR DAUNTE’S obvious murder! That was a baby! 12 years old! GONE! WHY?

Some things need to be clarified.. These activities are happening in some of the 5-star resorts and hotels in Mombasa, a city on the coast of Kenya. Nothing bothers me more than these causes talking about “we are are raising money to help children in Africa”. What children? In what country? Which town/province/region? First of all, I don’t really understand the point of this question. I guess something in my statements has prompted you to ask me and “anyone”.

I am currently a Masters students, my dad is a doctor, and my mom a consultant for a prominent world health organization. They are married, and are the best couple I have ever known. They are also immigrants from East Africa. I went to a good private elementary school, and received some of the best education throughout my life.

So economically, I am well-off.

Mentally, is another story. I’ve spent tons of hours and money on Asian/Euro hair extensions and chemicals to make myself look more ‘acceptable’ following white standards of beauty. I grew up feeling ugly and out of place around my white classmates, and somewhat physically inferior. I didn’t understand or know much of any African history, but knew European and ‘white’ history very well. I’ve experienced my share of racist teachers in elementary and high school.

When I was 3 yrs old(i don’t remember this, my parents recently told me)I said I wish I could cut off my head and put a white, blonde head on my body. V. disturbing!

I’ve been denied roles and relegated to stereotypical roles in theater (acting)because of my race.

I’ve been bombarded with images of my African, Caribbean and African American people as impoverished, AIDs ridden, culturally exploited, economically exploited, physically exploited and with skin/hair/feature complexes.

I am not an individualist. I don’t look at myself, or my bougie neighbors and think, “oh! look at how well off we are! i guess racism ended with MLK!”. I look at the entire African diaspora, and the overall conditions of black people. And I see how a systematic structure of racial oppression continues today. I drive past the ghettoes that look like some third world countries and see black faces.

I hear about schools that don’t have PENCILS, BOOKS and MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, and these are filled with black faces. I see prisons filled with intelligent black men, I see single teenage moms having baby showers like its NORMAL..and these are black faces.

What’s interesting, to me, is that younger men have no problem desiring older women. The only men bragging about ‘my 20 year old girlfriend’ or seeking women substantially younger than themselves are those men who are middle aged and older who have nothing else to offer except a trophy on their arm. The ’20 year old girlfriend’ becomes the midlife crisis version of ‘at least she’s white’, where it doesn’t matter what a white woman looks like as long as she’s white. Her whiteness is the trophy, and flaws that would be denounced in a black women are ignored in that white woman. So it is with the other, age is a trophy no matter what other positives or negatives she comes with. I don’t know what sex has to do with my response to your question. I am someone who has dated white and asian/indian men and is not opposed to dating them in the future (but NOT just because they are white or asian, as I ranted on a previous post!)

I am not one of those women who hisses at a black man/white woman couple when they walk by. I really could care less! So long as they’re secure and happy just like ANY OTHER couple.
