Paris Hilton Angry Over Fake RIP Nelson Mandela Tweet That Mistook Him For MLK
Paris Hilton is not amused. On Thursday, Dec. 5, shortly following the death of Nelson Mandela at age 95, a tweet attributed to the socialite — in which she seemed to confuse the South African Nobel Peace Prize winner with Martin Luther King, Jr. — quickly made the rounds online. “RIP Nelson Mandela. Your ‘I Have A Dream’ speech was so inspiring. An amazing man,” the post read.
In fact, the tweet was a cleverly photoshopped hoax that originated from humor account @deleted tweets.
Following the hoax, on her real Twitter account, the 32-year-old “Stars Are Blind” singer first memorialized the human rights leader and anti-apartheid crusader: “Just landed & heard the sad new about Nelson Mandela. He was a true Hero & the world is a better place because of him. May he rest in peace.”
She then slammed the hoax and those who spread the word: “Whoever made that stupid fake tweet lacks respect to the loss the world is mourning right now. Same goes for all the blogs who ran with it,” the designer wrote. “I’m so sick of people lying about me & using my name . Please get a life & stop talking about mine. It’s beyond. #URPathetic #GetYourOwnLife. Shows how jealous & insecure the world is. Only small minded losers spread gossip about others.”
Honestly though, keep it 100, would any of you be surprised if Paris actually DID mistake Madiba for brotha Martin??
