Nation Of Islam Snoop Dogg, left, greets Minister Louis Farrakhan

Faux Pimp Supreme Snoop Doggy Dog attended the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours Day convention yesterday:

Rapper Snoop Dogg made an appearance at the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours Day convention, praising Minister Louis Farrakhan and suggesting that he is a member of the movement. Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, gave a $1,000 donation to the Nation and said he will always seek the minister out.

The rapper called himself the “leader of the hip-hop community” and said it was his first Saviours Day event. He told followers that he would share the information he gathered with other musicians. “When you get a speech from Minister Farrakhan it’s about a mirror, it’s about looking at yourself,” the rapper later told The Associated Press. “It’s about seeing yourself and what you can do to better the situation … We’re doing a lot of wrongs among ourselves that need correcting.”

When asked by the AP if he planned to convert and become a member of the Chicago-based Nation of Islam, Snoop said he has already joined in the movement.

“I’m already in the Nation, that’s why I’m here,” he said. “I’m an advocate for peace. I’ve been in the peace movement ever since I’ve been making music. My whole thing is not about really trying to push my thing on you. It’s just about the way I live, and I live how I’m supposed to live as far as doing what’s right and representing what’s right. That’s why I was here today.”

The rapper did not elaborate on when he’d joined the Nation. Messages left for Nation of Islam officials were not immediately returned Sunday. Attempts to reach the rapper’s publicist were unsuccessful. During the speech Sunday, Snoop sat on stage behind Farrakhan clapping and nodding. Snoop declined to say how long he would be in the Chicago area or whether he was working on any projects. His last album, “Ego Trippin,’” was released in March 2008.

Farrakhan has long held relationships with famous rappers and hip-hop artists. He has hosted and spoken at hip-hop conventions, encouraging peace between rappers. Rapper Doug E. Fresh also attended the convention but didn’t speak publicly. Rapper T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, appeared via recorded video. He told followers that education is the key to success.

Calvin must be schizophrenic. Not too long ago, he was all about Country music and sh*t. Now, he’s talking about his membership with the Nation of Islam. Let’s not even touch the contradictions regarding his depiction of hoes – since the word woman doesn’t seem to be in his vocabulary.

Okayyyy!? This post makes no sense entirely, and can be offensive as well…I mean, some of Bossip’s readers and posters are part of that organization…or Muslim altogether…

  • Colonel Stinkmeaner(Ain’t nobody coming to see you OTIS!!!)

    @Re

Yeah Bossip is wack for this. I wonder are they more so saying that Snoop is not “fit” to be a part of the N.O.I., or WTF-ing the Nation all together. Fire whoever gave this thread the title…..

  • Eva

@EddieDollars215: They are Muslims, but Soenie Muslims don’t see members of the Nation of Islam as true Muslims. But on the other hand, who are they to judge?

I still believe Nation of Islam had something to do with the killing of the great Malcolm X.

  • GGooDie

Snoop is a ass clown. A really big ass clown.

  • White Devil

Snoop shaking hands with the guy who killed Malcolm X.

  • Phenomenal Dee

If Snoop is trying to better himself and promote peace, I won’t criticize him for that. I just hope that he starts promoting respect for women and discontinues to glorify weed in his music. (Then I’ll take him seriously!)

  • Maria

regardless if the NOI killed the great Malcolm that is never mentioned in America for some reason Islam was his chosen faith and should be respected so Bossip learn to respect your readers variuos faiths it could prove fruitful if only in the busniess sense!!!

  • Jamillah

Someone needs to remind Snoop that the NOI is not down with smoking all that chronic.

  • About it

  • Get With It

There are many in the Nation. Maybe now more will feel free to come forward to let the others know… Nothing wrong with an organization that helps African Americans reclaim their worth and dignity as a people. Black history in America focuses on teaching the children about hot combs, traffic signals and various inventions since we have been here. What about learning about the pyramids, the place where civilization began…etc. How many AA’s know that Egypt is in Africa? We are lost but NOT because of the Nation.

  • TheGoodGood

Love snoop, he’s a cool fella people just aren’t ready for this deeper side of him.

  • Ms Coco

sometimes i wonder if bossip is white…

  • actright

Everyone has to grow up sometime. Hopefully, this will teach him not to pimp out women for his own personal gain and hopefully he will learn how to truly respect them. The same women who get ready to fight when someone calls them a b*tch on the street will happily sing along with Snoop when he is calling them b*tches and hoes……. hmm go figure!

  • I Hate Blue Eyed Devils

    @White Devil

CIA used the NOI to kill Malcolm X!!

    DUMB ASS Crackah!!

  • White Devil

@ I hate Blue Eyed Devils

NOI is like scientology. Weak minded people need something to believe in. The CIA is not allowed to operate domestically. The FBI was the agency that investigated MLK. MLK accomplished things, that is why some in the government were afraid of him. The NOI has never accomplished anything except it’s own enrichment. Nobody in government was worried about Malcolm X. He was killed because he no longer wanted to be a part of the cult that worshiped a living human, Elijah Mohammed.

If you need to believe that your ancestors invented white people in a lab or had modern technology in ancient Eqypt (even though the people of Ancient Egypt were a different ethnic group than most Black Americans), then go ahead. Whatever floats your boat. You just look foolish. Black people are fine as they are. You don’t need to imagine a better history to feel good about yourself. Do you.

  • Tee

    A Salaamu Alaikom,

ok Watts3000.. and How many Christian pastors haven’t we seen do that??

The NOI is .. kind of like the Jehovas Witnesses or like an Adventist church. They do not represent the whole Islamic faith, and practice very differently from most muslims.

I am not a follower of the NOI, nor do I agree with much of what they preach. However, I am starting to find it very offensive to see all these anti Islamic posts by Bossip.

Before African American were brought here, they were West African. West Africans have been Muslims for a thousand years. Even if you choose not to practice, or have a strong Christian faith, at least respect what was once yours.

    Ma’salaama

  • Tee

Thank You EVA. Just read your post.

  • About it

    @ White Devil:
when Malcolm X started to preach racial harmony through Islam, anti-Zionism and American imperialist interference, the American Government and the Black Muslims (as they were then called) had a common enemy. Also, after Malcom X’s death, the IRS dropped its tax evasion suit against the Black Muslims.

  • lanette

the Minister is a great man. I don’t blame Snoop for being there.

  • http://isaacspr.blogspot.com Zack Isaacs

This post has actually spurred on a good debate for a change. While most of you are attacking Bossip for this post, at least you are showing your intellectual skills by defending your respective positions.

Big ups to you on that! While I do agree that Minister Farrakhan was a dirty man back in the 1960s, he has since redeemed himself. In fact, he does MORE on the South Side of Chicago than our current president did when he was senator.

Call me a hater if you want. Just come by my blog so I can know who you are! ;)
[Cheap ploy for site traffic? Hmmm...maybe]

Stop hatin’ on Bossip! Let them do their thing, even if it’s just mindless gossip. They are ones with the big site traffic, not me!

  • SamiraUK

The Nation of Islam believes that Elijah Mohamed was the last prophet, and in the Islam prophet Mohamed was the last prophet. Also they preach that black people are superior to white people, In islam all people are equal. The Nation of Islam teaches that intermarriage or race mixing should be prohibited. In Islam u can marry any muslim of any kind of race. The likes of Mohamed Ali and Malcolm X all turned their backs on The Nation of Islam. NOI teaches completly different things than the traditional Sunni and Shi’a Muslim doctrine for example: They teach that Allah appeared in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, in the traditional muslim doctrine, allah does not manifest Himself in human form, we actually believe that this is a major sin to believe so.

    Ma’asallama,

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAAAP!!!!

Y’all need to mellow the f**k out and start sipping on decaf. Bossip meant ‘what the f**k’ in the context that Snoop is known for weed chain-smoking, whore-mongering and being an all around menace to society while the Nation of Islam is known for discipline, positive imagery, discretion and a strict diet. It’s surprising that Snoop would want to align himself with that entity. They’re at other ends of the spectrum. Can you see Snoop in a bow-tie? (I jest.) But lighten up. I don’t think Bossip meant any harm. Damn, y’all are hyper-sensitive. Relax. Get a massage. Light some candles. Damn.

What do you mean by WTF? As a member of The Nation Of Islam and a MGT,I’m offended by your comment! But since it’s probably nothing deaf, dumb and blind niccas on your staff,I could truly understand………..as’salaam’alaikum

    @ tamaraluvgoddess

“I did many things as a [Black] Muslim that I’m sorry for now. I was a zombie then—like all [Black] Muslims—I was hypnotized, pointed in a certain direction and told to march. Well, I guess a man’s entitled to make a fool of himself if he’s ready to pay the cost. It cost me 12 years.

That was a bad scene, brother. The sickness and madness of those days—I’m glad to be free of them”

    Malcolm X

  • White Devil

    @ tamaraluvgoddess

    Peace be with you sister.

  • SamiraUK

tamaraluvgoddess,i don’t understand how someone can be part of the NOI and not educate himself about it. I’ve red several NOI books and it clearly says that NOI sees elijah mohamed as a prophet. Im not here to bad mouth the NOI, but as a sunni muslim i want people to know that the NOI teaches completly different things than the traditional Sunni and Shi’a Muslim doctrine. But hey if u want to believe that some races are superior to others then be my guest. Salam

    ps dkeys ur welc

  • tamaraluvgoddess

    White Devil

It’s funny that you quote Brother Malcolm, but he never accepted your kind as a face. If he did,why none of you grafted devil could join his organization? Also he never denounce the teachings of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad! Also for all the deaf, dumb and blind niccas on this site,if Malcolm was so great, why none of you dumb azzes not continuing his work?
