The father of one of the Slumdog Millionaire’s cast members has apologized for beating the snot out of him:

Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 10, was flown out to Los Angeles by movie bosses to walk the red carpet at last Sunday’s Academy Awards. And after seeing the movie pick up a staggering eight trophies, the youngster returned to his native Mumbai, India on Thursday to a hero’s welcome. But just a day after his triumphant return, pictures have surfaced showing Azharuddin receiving a brutal beating at the hands of his father, Ismail.

The shocking images show the child cowered in the corner of his home, holding his face after allegedly being slapped and kicked by his dad. The incident came on Friday afternoon after Azharuddin reportedly refused to speak to the press gathered outside the family home.

And now Azharuddin’s father Ismail has apologized for his actions, saying, “I was very sorry that I did what I did. I was so confused and stressed by my son’s homecoming that I did not know myself for a minute. I love my boy and I am very happy to have him home.”

Whatever. That cat is lucky he’s not here in the States. Child Protective Services would’ve swooped down on his ass so quick… And he’s never see one damn penny of that Oscar-winning cheddar.

  • Titti

Unfortunately that’s his daily grind. Just coz he was in a movie doesn’t mean his reality has changed. It’s not right but it’s ok – he’ll live.

  • jb_1030

His dad is mad that he is making more than him. Dad only makes $60 a month collecting wood while the kid makes $30 a week from the Slumdog producer.

  • http://Bossip Not Every Father Makes a Good Dad

    Ignorant ass bastard!

  • damn

some people love money so much they don’t care about anything else, i feel bad for this kid, his father is an ass. I hope when this kid turns 18 he get his trust fund money and get the hell out of there ! There’s a reason the producers put the money in a trust fund, they know how some parents are !

  • About it

This kid will remember this. His father better stay healthy until the day he dies!

  • emmy

yeah, I used to get beat. Of course…I deserved it. I was a horrid child. and I still didn’t get nearly as many as I deserved…love my parents.

but, this kid is the bread winner of the family…he needs to NOT get his a** beat every 5 seconds…his dad needs to sack up and get a life. because when this kid turns 18, he’s probably gonna roll the fu** out of those slums. I hope he does

  • Laugheter cures it all

realize that the kids have not been paid like everyone is claiming, a trust fund has been setup for them that they can not touch until they turn 18 yrs old, and the Director is also paying for their education all in all they got less than a grand for their roles….

Dad is just crazy and don’t care who’s around he gonna smack the hell outta that kid if he wants to, not saying its right, but damn what the hell anyone gonna do about it?…..yeah exactly

  • Black Beauty

What a shame, this is too sad. He was just over here chillin, and his ingonrant ass father slapped him back to reality the second he got home. His father in probably jealous, but he better get with the program.

More than 100,000 young women were killed in fires in India in a single year, and many of the deaths were tied to domestic abuse, according to a new study published Monday.

Young Indian women are more than three times as likely to killed by fire as their male compatriots, according to an article published on the Web site of the British medical journal The Lancet. The victims largely fell within a 15- to 34-year age group.

Domestic abuse is a serious problem in India. Women are sometimes killed in disputes over dowries; often in such disputes the victims are doused with gasoline and set ablaze, and their deaths are claimed as kitchen accidents.

If his mother dies in an ccident soon, we real know the real deal. Creeps like this beat everyone in the household.

And this is the country where we outsource to? Help us.

    @ Watts

You are right in some ways. Discipline has always been a positive reinforcment for children. But the problems lies not only the intent to discipline, but the ways in which you go about doing it. Beating the crap out of a child, slapping and punching a child is not going to do anything but make them fear you. When a child is afraid of you, they are going to be reluctant on sharing important things about their life with you as the parent. We say a good ol whipping is all it takes. It takes more than that. He shouldnt have slapped the crap out of his child like that. But then again, think about where they are living. This is a country where a woman could get acid threw on her face for walking around without wearing her Hajob (head scraves)!

    @ Watts3000
Plenty of black parents whup their kids. so why do so many end up in jail, rehab or the cemetery? This little nothing of a father was more interested in sucking up to the media than the well being of his child. The kid said he was tired. Try being 10 years old, go to the Oscars, be up late, in another country, jet lag, eating a completely different diet, having flashbulbs in your eyes for 3 days, get off a 20 hour flight and see how you feel. This has nothing to do with discipline. People of color always want to use their kids for the own ego and when the kid reaches the breakin’ point they go upside the kids head.

  • Carla

The dad should be ashamed of him self, and that boy needs to divorce him self from his dad.

  • Carla

Watts 3000, brutality is not the answer, Ismail’s dad was way out of line, I bet his son isn’t a bad kid.

  • Carla

Seeing that Ismails dad just hit him that hard some thing tells me Ismail won’t be living there and he’ll probably leave home at an eary age.

    Watts3000:
You probably got “whupped” and not disciplined. Is this why you are so angry and spew such ignorant comments? It takes nothing to raise your hand and strike-out in anger but it takes a whole lot of time and effort to actually discipline your child. Too many “I got my ass whupped when I was little and look how I turned out” people fail to remember how they felt when their moms or pops or whomever struck them in the name of love or discipline. Do the words hate, fear, confusion, mistrust, etc come to mind? Wake up people and stop the cycle of ignorance— all in the name of
    “being black”.

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAAAP!!!!

Whitney use to sing Cissy Houston’s praises for whooping her ass when she was a kid. Whitney, as an adult, goes fist-to-cuffs with Robin and then Bobby. Bobbi Kristina attacks Whitney with a butcher knife. To you morons who believe in whooping on children, get your head out of your ass. You’re perpetuating a destructive cycle. Pick up a book or ask a specialist about some problem-solving skills. Your fists and feet are not the answer. For the love of humanity – evolve, monkey.

    Excellent post!!

  • Roe ski Love – The checks in the mail

The best thing that could have ever happened was that my Dad kicked my ass on a regular basis. Me and my sibblings went on to college and successful careers, while my friends who were spoiled rotten ended up poor, dead or in jail. He used to tell me that if I don’t beat you for doing wrong it means that I must not love you. I didn’t understand this until I had my own children. Now I kick their ass on a regular basis. (just kidding)I do give them much love at all times, but won’t spare the rod when I have too.

  • Young Nay

OMG! Why did he have to apologize for slapping his son???? He is just that HIS SON! Thats the problem with the world today, too many other people trying to tell folks how to raise their kids. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! If it is obvious abuse then maybe, but hell I got beat downs on the regular, and I am just fine. I think its ridiculous that he apologized. Hell my parents got/ gave whoopins and trust me, there was no apology given

  • milagros

    @ About It

    thank you :)

  • Carla

Oooooooo, Ismail, Sr. will be in serious deep shit since this incident was on film, and this media video footage was aired internationally he’s got some explaining to do.

I think that a kid needs to be displined, but not slapped that hard, that’s horrible and Ismail, Sr. needs to forced into some type of mental treat ment actually the whole needs to attend therapy sessions, seriously. Young Nay were you locked in the closet, not fed for weeks, physically thrown across the room when you were a child? You sound like a classic case of an abused person.

  • Carla

Opps, I meant the whole family.
