Unborn Baby Of Murdered Chicago Teen Saved By Doctors
A 17-year-old girl, who was between 22 and 25 weeks pregnant, was fatally shot on Christmas Day in a Chicago suburb — but doctors miraculously saved her unborn baby girl.
Eva Casara was found slumped over the snow between two apartment buildings in Dolton, Ill., and bleeding from a single gunshot wound to the back of her head about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, police said.
Investigators suspect Casara was shot a few blocks away before she was dumped in the cold alley, where she may have been lying on the ground for up to 40 minutes until a witness spotted her and called 911, NBC Chicago reported.
Emergency workers rushed the wounded teen to a hospital before she was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Casara died the next morning, but doctors were able to save her baby — who weighed a mere 1 pound and 5 ounces.
The child, who was named Baby Doe by medical staff, was in critical condition.
These Chi-town savages truly have no soul.
Relatives said they will name the baby girl Lailani Paris Casara, the name her mother wanted, when her condition improves.
“She looks like her mother,” Fannie Casara said. “She’s beautiful, and she’s so tiny. All those tiny fingers and toes.”
Police did not disclose any possible motive for the senseless killing, and the victim’s family did not say if they had any of their own theories.
“I don’t want to speculate,” Fannie Casara said.
But the teen’s mother, Estrellita Casara, said the family just wants to see justice served.
“I want my baby back. She didn’t deserve that,” she said. “My princess. I miss her so much. … She’s as beautiful inside as she is outside.”
We can’t even begin to imagine the pain that this family is going through right now. Someone has to do something to end the tragic violence going on the Chicago.
