Such a beautiful woman and a great actress. Why is she NOT getting more roles again?

  • http://www.gravatar.com *FATABULOUS*

    she is pretty….love her insight

  • Good White Woman

She is not getting more roles because she is boring and a bad lay. No one wants washed-up black women when there are so many elegant and classy white women out there (ANGELINA JOLIE & THE OLSEN TWINS)!!!!

  • shavondenise

I loooove NIA LONG!! She has beauty & brains.

It’s nice to know that there are some people in the industry that still seem very grounded and that have some intelligence as well. Go Nia. It would be great to see her on the camera again, but it sounds like shes got her priorities in order.

  • NY2CaliLVN

I Love Love Love Nia Long she’s a friend in my head

  • Care 4U

I absolutely LOVE Nia!!! She’s gorgeous, a natural beauty, and a very talented actress!!

  • Ton~Teezy

    Great interview.

  • cocoa49

very intelligent black woman….refreshing to hear a black woman speak without downing or hating on another black person.she is right it’s the color of you skin in Hollywood that gets you the roles. Halle is a good actress, i will not fault her for that. what i like about Halle is she can actually turn herself into that character she is portraying. She is very versatile. The reason for this is she is given the opportunity to play these different characters, where as the other black actresses are offered the same type of characters all the time. they are not given the opportunity to explore different characters.

  • Theory of Truth

She would be great on Law & Order!!

  • dina

    BORING!!!!!!

  • ms meca

gorgeous.. and smart.. cant say that for too many in hollyweird

  • shra1924

Love her, but what in the hell has been “INGRADED in us”? (1:23). And she enuciated the made up word. LOL

This is a completely different interview than the one rolling out did with Nivea. I was expecting someone to jump out the chair and do the running man.

Naw, Nia Long is the epitome of ever and anything that is of beauty, love, and class.

She isn’t trying to be all in the camera’s like Vivica Fox looking for attention.

Thank God, we need someone like her and she speaks the truth.

    **Triple/Quadruple Threat????**

  • incognegro

Nia long is one of the artistic gems of our generation much like Ruby Dee was during hers. Both women are extremely beautiful, extremely well-spoken; however, if they waited to receive their validation from Hollywood (or HollyWhite for all intensive purposes) they would be considered worthless. There are a whole host of actresses: black, white, asian, etc. who have not received any shine because of intangibles, things that don’t necessary have anything to do with talent, but with what a director considers fascinating. In what world would a Angela Bassett not be one of the most world-renown actresses? She carries the same credentials as that of Meryl Streep (both are Yale School of Drama graduates), but have led two totally different lives and received totally different film roles and opportunities. Hollywood has not embraced the value of ethnicity and diversity, and I am glad that Nia has continued to make strides, because waiting in a world full of Angelina’s, Jennifer, and Cameron’s…they miss the true beauty of Nia’s, Taraji’s, Sanaa’s, Angela’s, and Ruby’s.

  • jamel

Ingraded is definitely not a word..she meant ingrained…

Something about her I’ve never really liked, but I met her once very briefly and she was cool. But she is a beautiful woman, even without makeup which is how she was when I saw her….

  • Sawyer

    She dropping knowledge…

The two things I agree 100%

    ~money = opportunity
~teaches your kids how to become rich and not just survive

  • Yvonne

Good interview. I especially like and agree with her thoughts about money.

  • Dev

Thank you Nia! You are a beautiful and intelligent black woman that hasn’t allowed the smoke & mirrors of hollywood to cloud your vision! And that is very admirable & inspiring! Continued success in all of your future endeavors*

  • http://www.angelsanddemons.com/ Film

Nia Long is a timeless beauty with mental alertness.

‘I look at money as a way to create opportunities. I don’t look at it as a way to have a certain lifestyle. I’m learning to have more financial wealth, planning, and ownership.’

Nia is right. It’s doesn’t matter what the current financial crisis/stimulus entails, one can still create possibilities for advancement or success. Define your goals, set out your strategies, plan out the problem, build in reserves, relate everything to a time frame, create a master plan, and take action.

  • http://www.angelsanddemons.com/ Film

    It doesn’t. TYPO

  • R.Zoe

Love Nia she is a beautiful, intelligent woman and I wish they offer her some roles! Sh!t…

  • hmpf

    LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!

  • ChocolateKate

great interview! Thanks for posting this up!

  • http://bossip kenny

I LOVE YOU NIA, YOU ARE A CLASS ACT

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDAAAAAP!!!!

I’ve never heard such an in-depth commentary from her before on any issue. It’s refreshing to see an actress who is brave and articulate enough to reveal her thoughts on complex points. Matters that border on delicate yet she’s not giving some rehearsed SAFE answer like ‘it’s amazing’ and ‘I’m so honored to be an actress,’ bla, bla, bla. You actually get the feeling that you’re getting some insight to her personal thoughts. Her opinions sound sincere. She’s not selling you the same artificial tripe like so many of her counterparts habitually do. She has a tendency to overly articulate her words like Angela Bassett but I don’t see that as a negative. That’s part of her training as an actress. But good for you, Nia.

  • leilei

Fabulous interview! Inspiring! LOVE NIA, wish I saw her in more roles! I want to very much. I feel her passion as an actress. She makes me believe her character. And I’m white.

  • Illuminate Truth

    “……..And I’m white.”

    @leilei

LOL….Uhm, OK. I fail to see the relevance in that last statement. Was that a declaration of being some sort of authority on the matter? Wow.

  • ME ME ME

shes prettiful! (Pretty and BEAUTIFUL DUH!)

  • ME ME ME

her hair is cute too! love that granny cap (really)

  • http://deleted CriticXtreme

I’ve always thought of her as being hot! I saw her one night I was in Hollyweird and she’s so natural and has a hell of a walk!

  • JC o’ B’klyn

Nia is chocolate, not the ordinary we purchse from the corner store, no. Nia is fresh coco from the tree itself, lickable.

  • Trina

She is a Queen. I’m proud to call her a sister!

  • Trey

I love me some Nia, you go girl!

  • ~*~$tar Cherry~*~

What she said about blacks being raised to survived, whereas whites being raised to get rich was on point! My mama and grandma(RIP) has been saying that for years!

  • brightseat_bully

Nia, you want a suggestion? Come back home, girl. I miss you.
