fraction-and-torry

Chris Brown, Suge Knight, and Devante aren’t the only men in the business putting hands on females. Joe Torry just beat the dog mess out of fellow comedian, Vanessa Fraction, in Japan:

We hear that while on the bus touring in Japan, comedians Vanessa Fraction and Joe Torry got into some sort of a physical altercation. The story varies on this unfortunate incident, but both sides do agree on certain things, and here is what is stated as fact; Both comedians for some sort of reason got into a “crack session” where they decided to crack on each other, and Fraction took it to a level that bothered Torry by going through the entire alphabet and coming up with cracks for each letter. Immediately after there was some name calling between both parties. Now here is where the story differs; according to Fraction, Torry immediately jumped up in her face and slammed her down into the bus seat and it took other comics Red Bone and Will E. Robo (both of whom were also on the tour) to pull Torry off of her. Fraction also claims that Torry punched her and pulled out a handful of hair. Torry denies all of the above claims by Fraction, and he claims that Fraction jumped up in his face and scratched him, and that she was extremely unruly to the entire bus, the tour guide and many more folks involved in the tour. He also claims that he did apologize to her for the incident, and that it should have never gotten this far. Meanwhile, Fraction is currently trying to press charges in Los Angeles, as she was unable to do so while in Japan. Torry was temporarily held by the Military Police right before one of their final shows and was later released. Also Fraction plans to move forward with a civil suit against Torry.

These fools are putting hands on women like it’s the newest fad. SMH

A terrible situation ideed. But I guess it’s better than a typical angry white male raping, stealing, beating, discriminating, and pileging a number of civilizations, or going through an entire school shooting teachers, students, and faculty.

@ The Third Eye… say whatever you want but at the end of the day TRUTH HURTS.

Link below to an interview Joe Torry gave regarding the incident. He describes it as a “misunderstanding” that got out of hand, and he has apologized more than once:

    @ Sydney

It has Vivica Fox, Shemar Moore, Joe Torry, and Golden Brooks from Girlfriends. Vivica and Shamar are succesful married couple with great careers.

Shamar then gets involved with Golden. She basically seduces him, so she can pregnant and get child support. Golden is in relationship with Joe and they are going to use it as black mail to get $$ out of Shemar.

That plan is ruined when Shemar is set up by his best friend and convicted for murder if I recall correctly. Joe thinks Shemar killed Golden, Shemar thinks Joe did it, but it was his best friend who did so and framed him.

The best friend ends up marrying Vivica. You have to see motives 2 to see how it all goes down. SOunds crazy and soap opera like but it was good.

Yeah, another one of Viv’s straight to DVD releases lol.

Okay, I’ll have to check that out. Blair Underwood is a talented actor. He’s finally getting some recognition these days.

  • Sydney

Poor Viv. . .I’ll try to check it out.

Yeah, Asunder was directed by Tim Reid and Blair played a man obsessed with Debbi Morgan, who is married to his best friend, Michael Beach.

  • Balls Deep

She has got some great legs!

  • hahahahahaha

lmao where are all the “domestic abuse activist” . . . . or was that just for Rihanna?

  • Junk

The part that’s getting me is that some men and women on this site seem to be under the delusion that the victim has to provoke the situation in some kind of way in order to be beaten. An abuser will hit a woman NO MATTER WHAT SHE’S DOING. There’s no need for provocation or jumping up into someone’s face. They lack the mental fortitude to control themselves or their actions. They get off on demeaning and physically subduing women. With the Chris and Rihanna case, it’s been said that it’s happened before. There is an established pattern of abuse…not an ISOLATED incident. If this is the case, then Chris is an abuser, flat-out. If Rihanna did hit him, there were more than a few ways he could have diffused the situation: pushed her away, gotten out of the car, called the cops, left her stranded. Instead he beat, punched and choked her…overkill, much? Now, he’s compromised himself, his freedom and his career because he cannot control his rage. Joe was engaging in a verbal back-and-forth with this woman and apparently when she got too close to his ego, he wanted to put his hands on her. That’s not acceptable. He needs to be a man. If he engaged in a provocative situation (cracking on each other) then he should have been able to deal with the impact the insults would have on his ego. Period. Wanting equal rights does not mean that women should now be men’s punching bags. As I stated before, adults should not hit adults. A woman should not hit a man or vice versa. However, should the situation arise, someone has got to be the adult in the situation and walk away. Why would you potentially compromise your freedom to prove that you are a man? Is it really worth it? Is the bid that you’ll have to do in jail really worth a small jab to your pride? If you were truly a man or a woman, nothing that anyone could say should make you compromise yourself.

  • Stupid is as stupid does

    @Junk, wow, great analysis.
I think we were typing the same time

  • Junk

    @Stupid is as stupid does:

Jeez, we almost wrote the exact same thing. Maybe that’s why I liked your comment so much ;)

Too bad common sense isn’t common.

  • Stupid is as stupid does

Dudes talking about if a women says this and that then she should be prepared for a beat down…are yall serious? Have any of you every been in a real relationship?

If you want a women who does not value her own intelligence has no confidence in herself or in her abilities, no sense of self or self worth or autonomy then go for that chick. She’s the one who will never question you or think for herself because she has no mind of her own. They are out there fellaz, just waiting for guys like you…

but please don’t go after the confident chick with self esteem and then try to break her down to your level. You can’t have it both ways. Anyone that knows they have worth is going to speak their mind, whether its to agree or disagree with you. Try to express your point of view without using violence.

  • Stupid is as stupid does

@ Junk, never underrate your ability to express yourself clearly and coherently.

Unfortunately many people either lack this ability or they lack an appropriate outlet to express their frustrations. That’s why alot of them resort to violence in the first place.

For alot of these men, when you strip away their tough exterior, you realize that they’re dealing with major insecurities and feelings of inadequacies but they can’t talk about it because their peers and society would look down on them and call them weak…and how can you fix what you can’t even talk about.

its really a sad situation when you think about it. Society would easier condone a man being violent than for a man to reveal that he has feelings of vulnerability.

  • Scooby Dubious

    she doesn’t look very funny.

  • Darkesthourglass

A lot of men will hit a women even if she didn’t “provoke” him. He thinks he own her. I hate it when people make excuses for these losers.

  • dutchmaster

i bet it was like in poetic justice when regina king told him he wasnt fly and he finally couldn’t take it anymore. where’s tupac when u need him. LOL!

Didn’t Lorena Bobbit’s husband hit her, too? The one who cut John Wayne Bobbit’s thing off. He did something to her for her to go off like that. There are some women you definately don’t hit because you never know what’s going on in their heads.

  • shes ugly anyway

  • Harold E

A girl’s punch to the face may not hurt, but that doesnt mean i want to get hit in the face!!!

  • Harold E

For it to truly be even women should expect the same consequence as guys when it comes to violence but they dont cuz society has rules that give 1 side more of an advantage, thats y alot of guys wont ever see it as equal.

  • Harold E

my sister was just as guilty. but his bad luck

  • Bloodshot 3rd Eye

You will notice I didn’t at all condone what Chris Brown did. What he did goes beyond self-defense and into punishment. And it seems to me EECA that you are proclaiming the rules of a fair fight. Well I have news…rarely is there such a thing. As somone said, believe it was Harold, most right thinking men wouldn’t go up to and start swinging at a guy that had 6 inches and 120 lbs of muscle on them. If they did would you expect the big muscle man to “only use proportionate force” in riposte out of some illogical notion of a fair fight. OR would you expect the big muscle man to smack the little worm down to the ground like a gnat. That’s basically what you are saying that the smaller aggressor should be forgiven their actions just because they are physically frailer despite their intentions and actions. Which pardon my French is bullshit. As I said before to play off your statement if you want me to respect you as an equal in intellect then please be smart enough not to think you as a woman should get a “get out of asskicking free” card just because you have two x chromosomes instead of a y.

In a perfect world every man would sit on the couch with a stoic face as his woman proceeded to re-enact the fight scenes from Enter the Dragon on him. But that’s not reality so let’s not brainwash women into thinking that for no reason should she not expect to get what’s coming to her if she is acting a fool.

What if I hit u, what would u do?

  • EECA

    @Bloodshot,
I don’t condone women hitting men,
What I am in saying is rationalizing men hitting women is dangerous territory because once you start doing that you open up different men giving different reasons for beating a woman’s ass, and in the case that a fight between a man a woman does ensue, a man will do much more damage to a female then she could ever do to him.

You know good and well that most domestic violence cases do not stem from a woman going crazy on a man, it comes from a sorry excuse for a human being attacking another one who far exceeds the other in strength.
I know both you and Harold are mad because it isnt fair that women don’t get thrown in jail as much for domestic violence as men, but life isn’t fair, and if you take the emotion out of it you will that rationally what I’m saying is true.
Physiologically there is just a difference.

Look i’m not standing up for the average ghetto hood rat and good-for-nothing thug relationships, their mentalilty is all their own.

I’m talking about sound minded men and women who get into arguements and it results in a man with scratches on his face but the woman left unconscious. Control your strength is all i’m saying, know what you can do with it and the consequences of using it.

  • Bloodshot 3rd Eye

sweep the leg. Nobody is going to get that. lol.

  • Harold E

@EECA lets assume i 100 percent agree with your viewpoint and let use the example of the man who attacks the woman for no reason defense as upposed to that self defense argument. Wouldnt both of the 2 parties going to jail benefit more than only 1 going to jail??? If she knows she can go to jail for getting beat up for no reason y not use that as added incentive to leave a bad relationship??? and with a rate of 95 percent of any domestic disputes favoring women and 22 percent false allegations wouldnt it help stop any violence and any false allegations by scorned women more??? Sure the average man is stronger than the average women, But in my opinion it just gets worse if only the man goes to jail…there will obviously be a reapet trend in abuse if he knows she wont go to jail, and he thinks she wont suffer at all.

  • EECA

you’re right about that, I dont know what you are talkin about

  • Bloodshot 3rd Eye

    @EECA

I think you are arguing something different than either Harold or I are talking about. Neither one of us have said or condoned out of hand abuse of women. Yes I definately realize most cases of violence from men against women are initiated by men and for reasons that don’t bear out any kind of logic or justification. Just as you are saying you are not standing up for the average ghetto hood rat I’d wager we are not standing up for the man who beats his woman because he has mommy issues.

He and I both are talking about the all too often case of females instigating AND being the physical aggressors and the notion that in such a case even though fewer in number should not be dealt with equally harshly and with equal contempt. A sound minded man and woman in an arguement will not come to blows period. A woman who strikes her man is NOT of sound mind and as such I do not see a point in you or society in telling him that he should not only take the physical abuse but also the psychological abuse that comes along with not being able to defend himself out of fear that HE will be considered the monster.

Again to use your own words as my ammunition no life is not fair, hence why women need to understand that if you strike a man it will NOT be a fair fight and you should not expect him to restrain himself as such. And appeals for men to control our strength when the woman in question is not controlling her faculties seems to be a bit sexist AND unduely shifting the blame from the victim. Physiology be damned honestly there are consequences for actions and we need to be teaching women that society as a whole will not have your back if you are the bad guy that starts it all anyway.

  • Bloodshot 3rd Eye

    @EECA

That sweep the leg comment was to ‘?’. Think Karate Kid.

  • Harold E

@EECA when 2 men fight they arrest both men, when 2 women fight the arrest both women. Only on Tv are the fighters proportional. in real life there is always a stronger or weaker adversary. but both parties are taken to jail to show them they need to not fight again or theyll both be in jail again.

  • Knot a hoe up

I’m glad I’ve only had relationships with women of substance because if a woman ever put her hands on me I’d knot a hoe up!

Now how the hell does Joe Torry call himself a comedian if he can’t take a joke. Seems like he can dish it but can’t take it. Lame-lost respect for him

  • Smooth G

I didn’t see any scratches on Joe, but Redbone turned it out. Remember there is always two sides to the story but if anyone gets in your face you have the right to protect yourself whether they are man or woman. Peace

  • Only girl, with 3 older brothers

Chicks, keep ya hands to yaself, NO excuses for a girl hitting on a man expecting him not to excuse you from in front of him. I have brothers and they hit girls..when/if they jump bad..SORRY…we are humans first. This was a fight not a pattern of abuse. Men and woman fight, and they fight eachother too theres no law saying guys can’t hit girls nor is there one saying girls can’t hit guys..Get over your ego WOMAN. In the case of woman who are actually living with DOMESTIC ABUSE it’s Black, Chinese, White, Indian, Spanish…It’s not just black woman it’s all women. So SISTAHS stop trying to own the abusee role, it don’t belong to you.

  • memchee

    I believe Fraction.

  • RiRi

I don’t think that anyone will argue the point that violence between men and women in relationships is an issue that transcends race, but reading so many of the above posts has me wondering how much the history of oppression in country influences the way that black people think about men and women handling conflict. It’s sad to realize, yet again, that after so many generations of other people dehumanizing us to enrich themselves, we still assume that a black man keeping a black woman in her place (or vice versa)is necessary for finding some satisfaction in a relationship. Women need to respect men, and men need to respect women–agreed. But how do we accomplish this without “whoopin’ somebody’s ass,” pulling a knife, calling people out of their names? Because all the violence seems to be doing is making people hate and fear each other more, which gets us further away from the respect we desperately need and want.

  • AWWWWWWWWWWSHADDUUUUUUUP!!!!!

I beat all 8 of my women when they get out of pocket! A woman needs to be trained like a dog,you gots to kick them every now and then so they will respect you!

  • J-T

Here is my take on the whole domestic violence situation.

It’s a half and half for me. Usually males just beat the hell out of females because they feel like it, but there are also times when the female is the prime reason.

I’ll be honest, not all females do this, but it could be a true reason, because not everyone’s perfect. Say for instance, a female makes a whole fuss with a male over something little. There will be times in the situation where she’ll start name calling, and even “mush” him constantly. Even if he told her “Be quiet!” or even to the extent “Shut Up!”, she would still be yelling, and it could go worse. Like I said, not all females do this.

Me, for instance, if I was in a spoken confrontation with someone, I would have trouble defending myself with words, because while they are yelling, I would have to think before I speak in order to respond and be the mature one of us two, and I just can’t think that fast.

Hitting someone, is basically just used to solve a problem, but to me, it doesn’t. It just makes matters worse.

On the whole “female can hit a man, but not the other way around” is a bit unfair, because if both occurred, the female would still be respected, but the male wouldn’t. Say if Rihanna beat the hell out of Chris. What would people call Chris? Women wanted to be treated as equal, and when they were, voting was not just the case. That even means being convicted of the same crimes as males.

Rihanna & Chris’ whole situation: Rihanna shouldn’t be all-around innocent for this one. She told him something, whether it was herpes, or she’s pregnant. Personally, I would just let it go & leave it alone, but with people name calling them, especially Chris, and thinking he would just beat up a girl for no reason, just irritates the hell out of me.

When I first read this thread, I actually thought they were both fighting, instead of one hitting the other, because Vanessa Fraction does look like the girl that would hit, or even beat up, someone, even a guy.
