Antonio Pierce R.W. McQuarters John Starks

NY Giants players Antonio Pierce and R.W. McQuarters and former NY Knicks guard John Starks attended the Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year event honoring Brett Favre the other night. When asked which women in the industry they were attracted to, here are their responses:

“I’m old school,” said the Giants’ Antonio Pierce. “I like Halle Berry, Vanessa Williams, Eva Mendes and Jennifer Lopez.” His teammate R.W. McQuarters chose Britney Spears but quickly added, “In 2001! Not Britney today!”

John Starks says he’s a one-woman man: “Beyoncé. Just a bunch of Beyoncé clones.”

Damn, it’s really time for the industry to stock up on some new faces if Britney Spears is still on men’s top ‘to do’ list. SMH.

This racist and colorist ignorance is why Sanaa Lathan can find a husband. Britney Spears, is he blind? K-Fed doesn’t even want her and neither did Justin Timberlake back in 2001. I hope Sanaa Lathan marries the richest and most handsome white man alive and stops trying to get with racist “brothers”.

  • http://www.myspace.com/birdshu Bird

Wow I guess the dark skinned sistas really don’t stand a chance. How sad that our men are still color struck. I wish ladies could come together and boycott their asses.

  • Traycee

Yeah girl…..Allen was that dude right along w/ John back in the day!

  • V

These men are stupid and will only end up in a relationship with someone for looks.

I’m glad I’m not either one of their types and my partner will put them to shame in sweats & a tee.

I don’t think I looked at either one of them for more than 1 second and I don’t know their names.

*Lord we live in a world where unattractive cocky men can choose…

*Nervous that one of them wants clones of someone.

  • DROCK

BRAVO FOR THEM NAMING SOME WOMEN OF COLOR…BUT SPEARS???

  • Anonymous3

    @ Bird

I thought it was just me…not one chocolate sister in the bunch……so sad

  • DROCK

@BIRD…RIGHT NOW GABBY IS ABOUT THE ONLY DARKER CHICK STILL OUT THERE. (WE ARE A DYING BREED) THE INDUSTRY IS QUICK TO PUSH MORE RHIANNAS & CASSIES (even if they can’t really sing) AND YOU KNOW AINT NOBODY CHECKING FOR MS. NEW YORK…

  • Traycee

Man……New York’s boobs look just as real as my coworker’s hair!

Ya’ll can’t forget about Nia Long. That was the “IT” girl WAY before Gabrielle Union came on the scene.

  • Anonymous3

    DROCK

in all honesty NO ONE should be checking for Ms. New York although her show is pure comedy..luvs it!!!….but I cosign……the problem is there aren’t a lot of dark skinned sistahs on primetime and the silver screen these days…the media tells us who is considered beautful and unfortunately we don’t have proper representation

  • nahnah

    LMAO @ that list.

This is proof alot of men are stupid idiots who only accept what they see on tee vee. These cats ain’t got a original brain in their body. I swear that sounds like something my little 25 years old brother would say.

Britney Spears? Ummm, the 2001 Britney (which I think was like 17 or something?) was made up and not authentic. The real Britney is the trash we see today. (Shame)

Ain’t nobody craving chocolate these day, damn!

  • nahnah

*that was supposed to be original bone

  • Soul Cry

    @DROCK

I damn sure don’t anyone checking for New York. She is no one I want representing for us dark sister, lawd no.

  • nahnah

Damn…That was supposed to say *15 years old brother…

  • Soul Cry

I know what he meant by old school…back in the late 80s early 90s, redbone was the top choice (and depending who you ask, still is).

but none of these men I would want knocking on my door. No depth of the soul, I could never deal with someone like that…hell naw.

  • V

Sistas it’s not the looks. It’s the weak black men wanting docile women. Let’s just face it. We are just too strong for some of our brothas.

Kodos to those brothas who find a strong women attractive.

  • Just Sit And Be Pretty

LMAO, no this man did not utter Britney name? WTH?!?!

  • Just Sit And Be Pretty

    oops, forgot my apostrophe…Britney’s…

  • Anonymous3

I was also shocked when that fool had the nerve to say the 2001 Britney….the 2001 version of Britney was a sedated clone….what we have today is the REAL DEAL Britney…the Britney who is legal and doesn’t have to ask her parents and publicist’s permission to behave a certain way, the type of Britney who wears chipped nail polish, short shorts, no shoes, munching cheetos and slurpingred bull, with low budget extensions talking bout “Hey Yall”!!!

  • A +

I am still feeling John, he still look sesay! Is it me or has RnB princesses of the late 2000′s just not doing it right about now. They can’t sing, all look the same and have no flava. We were so spoilt back in the day: Mary, Monica, Brandy, Lauryn, Toni B, Destiny Child (phase 1), where has it all gone wrong. Very true that Gabrielle and Nia are barely holding it up for the “blacker the berries…”. Somethings got to give!!

  • DROCK

@TRAYCEE..I FORGOT ABOUT NIA….BUT YALL KNOW THE INUDSTRY LIKEs THEM YOUNGER AND YOUNGER AND BOTH NIA AND GABBY OVER 30…THE ONLY CUTE DARK CHICK ON PRIME TIME IS A NEW GIRL ON HEROS…(her ass almost got burnt up this week to)

  • DROCK

OH, AND TONY CHILDS(VIA GIRLFRIENDS)SHE WAS CUTE..BUT THEY KICKED HER OFF THE SHOW..I STOPPED WATCHING BECAUSE OF THAT..SHE WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER..

  • Soul Cry

    @DRock

Me too, but I hear she is coming out with some new movies next year.

  • Soul Cry

    …Jill Marie Jones..

  • Anonymous3

    DROCK

I completely stopped wathching Girlfriend once they kicked “Tony Childs” off…I thought I was the only one protesting…

  • nahnah

The show is equally as good without her. The characters have matured a lot, which is a good thing.

And she wasn’t kicked off, she left to do do movies.

  • Anonymous3

actually, I read that there was a money dispute and that she wanted more moeny and thought that the others (Tracey Ross, etc) were on board but they jumped ship and it looked like it was just her asking for more money

  • IAMLEGEND

the 2001 edition of BS was truly something to slab your meat over

  • Soul Cry

    @nahnah

so I’ve heard, but, oddly, I still found no interest in watching after she left.

  • KENNEDY

THIS IS FUNNY BUT NOT SURPRISING THAT ALL OF THESE WOMEN HAVE 1 THING IN COMMON. WHAT ABOUT STACEY DASH, NIA LONG, MALINDA WILLIAMS. BLACK MEN KILL ME.

  • Lady Architect

they are lame….what about the everyday woman that breaks her back and works her azz off and has a college degree and stuff…none of these men care about that…they want overnight dolled up celebrities.

  • Nita

all the women listed are white substitutes. except britney, she is white.

brothers in sports don’t like black women who are black. the sun rises in the east.

  • CubaLinda

My brother is also the type of guy that will cry out “BRITNEY SPEARS!!!” when asked who he thinks the hottest chic is… He’s also gay- I mean a flame- broiled, takes it up the rear faggot, something you care to share R.W.??

    {P.S.~ luv my brother dearly and he’d even call R.W. out on this one!!}

Word, to both y’all. Hell, even some Tamara Dobson, some Teresa Graves (Get Christy Love!), some Pam Grier, even Nichelle Nichols should get more love. More old school: the chick who played Lisa in ‘Omega Man’ (Rosalind Cash?), and the almighty Angela Davis.

You want old school bunny white substitute? Jayne Freaking Kennedy before ANY other ho (except Vanessa — they’re twin white shouldered Nubian Queens). Second place, Diahann Carol. Love her or hate her, she was fine.

  • Sun Goddess

You all are making too much of a big deal over their preferences. Hey, there are men who are ‘color struck’ on dark skinned black women, too.

  • What?

    Soulcry & Anonymous3

I was hurt when Jill Marie Jones was released from Girlfriends too. I don’t blame her for wanting more money. They should have forked over the cash.

  • FiyahCrotch

Man, when he said old school I thought he was gonna rep for Nia Long, Janet Jackson, Lisa Bonet, Stacey Dash, Vivica Foxx, she was good b4 the surgery, not even LisaRaye or Toni Braxton!

Black Men are still falling prey to the crap they show on tv and magazines as being the standard of beauty and it is sickening! Not one of those men considers a women who looks like their Mother, Beautiful. If I were their Mom, sister, cousin, aunt or niece, I would so get in their face and remind them how great White Ameria and White Women really think they are when still all you see on the news is black men homeless, commting crimes or being drug addicts.

  • FiyahCrotch

Ola Ray,Jayne Kennedy, Theresa Randall, Angela Basset, Robin Givens, Phylicia Rashad, Rosie and Renee Tennyson, Lelani Vasquez, Melanie Brown

It is sad when white men praise the beauty of the brown skin woman more than a Black Man does…

Can a brown skin woman , who is not mixed or Creole get some love along with Halle Berry and Vanessa Williams.

  • CubaLinda

I love Robin Givens~ she is so beautiful!!.. No homo!!

  • MsTNT

God forbid they name any chocolate sistas. SMH.

some Black Men accepted it because “Becky in the Bighouse” was off limits….”sistah girl” in the slaves quarters was free for everyone to take but “Becky” was off limits…and we know how it is when you are denied something or told you can’t have something…what do you do? you try and get it because you were told “no” ..just like a kid…the more you say “no” the more they want

  • Constance

I’m not suprised. All black men are not like that though. I’m dark and I get looks from black men and dates to. I, however, haven’t met my husband yet.

    TEAR TEARS LOL

  • Mr O Dot

    Narcotics,

you mean to say Black American men…

also, being attracted to women with lighter complexion is not just in black culture…it’s natural selection (for the record I believe in both Christianity and natural selection)

personally, though…doesnt matter to me what complextion a woman is…

charcoal…would be pushing it though LOL

  • NubianGoddez

@ Mr O Dot charcoal was our natural color before yt and his recessive diseased gene pool polluted our blood line. that’s why when the first started coming into Nubia they called us “land of the burnt faces” black the berry, sweeter the juice.

  • Mr O Dot

    joking! relax!

  • dayg715

the fact that beyonce is still on men’s top ‘to do’ list boggles my mind.

  • MBogus

The comments that I’ve read are more proof that the black woman in America exemplifies the “crabs in a barrell” construct. These brothas gave their preferences to the type of women that they like, nothing more, and you all are mad about the shade of black they are? Get the f**k outta here!!!

You women are really upset because more and more successful black men in this country are fed up with what black women have become, and are running to women of other races to be our wives and mothers of our children. Reading some of the comments on this site, I can’t blame them.

Take a few notes from these non-black women scooping up these brothers, maybe you’ll learn something.

  • MistaO

You know many of you need to put the breaks on painting ALL Black men with the same brush. Real talk. They asked these three bumblers and you know many of the athelets have no concept of Blackness and who they (we) are and no concept of our history as well. And trust, there is an equally long list of Black female entertainers that “run” on the other side of the fence. So don’t get your draws too terribly twisted over these “selections”.

There are plenty of Black men out here who prefer the Lanisha Cole’s, Kelly Roland’s, and other sisters.

I believe a bigger issue is the fact that so many Black women have self esteem issues and let what they see in the media affect their own mentalities and view of their own beauty. Thus, falsly believing they are undesireable EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE A BLACK MAN RIGHT IN THEIR FACE TELLING THEM HOW HOT THEY ARE!!! I’ve seen it a thousand times.

Trust, just because you have these goofy type dudes out here all amped up over some yt broads, please don’t lump us ALL in together!

  • MistaO

Whaa??? Attracted to lighter women due to natural selection? Man some of you need to pick up some books every now and again. All this crap has to do with historic racial conditioning.

Some of you brothers could start with a simple roughly 45 page book called The Willie Lynch Letter. This talks about how slave holders studied and mastered was to manipulate Black people’s minds and hold whiteness in higher regard, thus placing leseer value on their own Black lives. Equaling greater, longer control over this population.

Also see how the British implemented the same structure when they colonialized India. It’s called the Caste system and is still in full effect today right down to who they have their children marry. Just like the mentally damaged Black folk still out here concerned about “good hair” vs supposedly “bad” and dark skin v. light. Same mental damage due to conditioning during and since slavery and the media also plays a critical role in keeping these ideologies promoted. This is exceptionally easy even today since a vast majority of children receive little to no education about their TRUE history in their homes.

  • Mr O Dot

    MistaO,

I’m going to assume you are referring to me. Clearly you have no idea what natural selection is…nor have any real knowledge/experience on African/international culture…because if you do, you would know that many many many tribes/countries in Africa value lighter-skinned women and treat them like queens…the same can be said for very dark-skinned also, however you cant ignore the many millions of those who value lighter-skinned..and this was way before the colonization from England of a few of the African countries…it is natural selection…the lighter skinned you are, the more likely you were mixed with various genes, leading to more variation (a word in genetics you clearly dont know about, and you should look up on your own)…and the more variation, the stronger we are (as homosapiens) in various areas, such as intelligence, looks, survival ability, etc….it goes pretty deep..maybe you should PICK UP A BOOK and englighten your mind

ps, Im Nigerian..and I’ve actually BEEN to these places you’ve only read about

  • Mr O Dot

    ps, kelly rowland is slamming

    but she aint no beyonce

    real talk

  • BostonBitty

    ^^Mista O Dot,

i’m a biology major and have never heard that “light skinned” natural selection theory. They have a greater variation of genes? ummm what? The female of the species is looking for the strongest, healthiest looking male to procreate with. The male is looking for the healthiest, most fertile looking female. (This is just a brief overview of animal mating) This has nothing to do with fairer people having greater genetic variation. I have been to Africa as well my BROTHA and i’ll tell you…Lighter skin is held in such high regaurd for one main reason COLONIALISM. you can see evidence of it all over the world in former colonies both with black populations and w/o. Whites enslaved minds and bodies during their occupation and slavery. once it was over we were still slaves to that mentatlity that white is right, better more intelligent and attractive. That we should still look up to them or their likeness as master. That is why people all over the world, in Africa (especially yall Nigerians), India and Latin America are bleaching their skin and why these American black men all say they want these barely black “mullato” looking females. You need to read a book! try “The Color Complex”

  • Mr O Dot

    bostonbitty,

the lighter skinned, the more likely there is variation in your genes…I was pre-med was upon a time, too; look it up. Bleaching, clearly doesnt count (however, it is a hilarious practice)

on the regard of colonialism and all that; yea I GET IT…but people like you need to realize that you live in your past and that you can change your present…the ‘years of oppression and brainwashing’ card wont fly forever….help YOURSELVES, the White man doesnt give a damn about all the weeping and grievances…look at the Jews, they have well moved on past the holocaust…Why black people the only ones still crying about everything…that’s why i respect the strong, Black people who dont live in the past and who are making good for themselves and turning the negative into a positive…and why I dont respect people like you who are so far up their own asses with historical facts that they forget that nobody cares in 2007; nobody will spoon-feed you just because your ancestor was their ancestor’s slave

so you can live in your “why we are the way we are” books…

    ill live in reality

  • Mr O Dot

    snickers,

watchu kno about the Snickers king-size ice-cream bar????!!!!

  • Anonymous3

    Mr. O Dot

you just don’t get it…I get tired of hearing the same sad story from those Americans of African Descent who complains that the “man” is the reason why he can’t get job, can’t work, can’t prosper….I don’t like that type of person either…however I like most people who post on this site work hard to afford things, some of us college graduates and some of us doing really well….does that negate the fact of what happened to our ancesotrs and if it still affect us today….NOPE!!!! so we will live in today, in reality while still remembering and dealing with the affects of “Master’s” many manipulations

  • nahnah

Whites enslaved minds and bodies during their occupation and slavery. once it was over we were still slaves to that mentatlity that white is right, better more intelligent and attractive. And we still hold that mentality. Anybody who deny this should be slapped in the face. It’s everywhere, however I must say women are held on a higher standard than men. In other words, according to this society, black men can be as dark as they want(so long as they’re not too dark, like Akon and Seal) and still be good looking, while black women must follow a certain standard. Only then will she be considered a sex symbol in Hollywood.

And skin bleaching cream is in Harlem too. Just go to Frederick Douglass and West 116th street, you’ll see a bunch of Africans with really light and ashy skin while they’re dark below the head (yes, dark as necks…). They sell them in the streets and make tons of money!

But I think Indians are the #1 consumers of skin bleaching cream.

  • nahnah

And how silly to compare the black plight with the Jewish Holocaust.

  • bahamachyck

    @ MistaO

    I appreciate your comment.

  • eve0513

Dame shame!!! Black men the 21st century Klan.

None of them were women of color with brown or dark melanin. And these are the dummies ya’ll are giving your money to. They probably all have non black wives.

  • eve0513

    MBogus-KKK at its best

What would happen if black women sold out like black men?

black men have been so surpressed that they can not handle the plight of the black woman. She is the one who bore the race but are being rejected by our own kind.

If that is the case black women should give up on black men perios since there are fewwer of them in college and the majoirty are in jail. We should be the one discouraged at the black menn of today.

We should be the ones who sell out and go for the white guys with money, education , great family background and such but no we are true and loyal since the days of the master raping and stealingour family. Black men who date white women are weak.

More black men should take a few notes from these white men and make a way and stand up for something and stop falling for everything. Stand by your family and race. Have some honor and respect for your ancestory and heritage.

  • Mahogany

I used to love the Knicks and only because of John Starks.

  • BostonBitty

    Back at Mr. O Dot,

Since when are organisms looking for genetic variation just for the sake of genetic variation? Actually its a fact that most organisms who are hybrids are reproductively inviable. For example, the mule, the liger and so on. So in nature things that are “mixed” are not more in demand but rather they are they are avoided. Humans are all of the same species and can therefor can reproduce but its not logical to think that mixture makes people more disirable w/o the presence of indoctrination. People are actually naturally attracted to people who resemble and remind them of their parents.

    Secondly,

How dare you imply that blacks feel they need to be spoon fed.

we were not talking about black/white relations and how we are cannot rise up because of racism, rather we were talking about how internal racism is making us favor what is whiter and in turn making “blackness” a thing to be diluted and supressed because it is ugly and undesirable rather than celebrating how it connects us no matter what shade we are. It s being perpetuated in the media and the media is merely a reflection of what we want. What we are suposed to want.

    true nahnah

in India, skin bleaching has actually gone mainstream and is advertised by Bollywood’s most famous actor.

  • BostonBitty

and I nominate R.W. McQuarters for “Coon of the Day” for that Britney comment lol

  • MBogus

eve0513, you are spewing the typical rhetoric that many black women do today. You’re telling me that of the 16,000,000 black men in this country, over 8 million are in jail, ridiculous? For the record, there are more black men in college in this country than at any other time in history. Get your facts straight before you comment and make yourself appear to be one of those people who didn’t get out of high school.

Also, save the whole slavery connection, because in 2007, it’s non-applicable. Black women today aren’t interested in being wives and mothers, and the men you all chase after seem to be the thugs, ballers, and players. That’s where black women have sold out black men. So us good, family oriented, black men have no other choice but to find women who want to be those things. I’ll be proved wrong when the black marriage rate starts to climb, instead of declining further like it currently is.

  • cindylee

Not a shocker, high-yellow, half-breathe, white, and latin. Look at that not one real back woman on their list…typical!

  • DM

I am a very light skinned black woman with long hair and naturally green eyes (really), but I have a hard time with these whack men selecting only light brown black women, hispanics and a white girl. What does that mean? I wished I looked like Gabrielle or Nia. Guys, appreciate sisters and sisters of all colors. Actually don’t look at the color, look at the personality, the wit, the charm and sophistication, you ignorant, ball throwing, no educated fools.

  • dc

Lord, so much energy is focused on looks…how big the *** is…degrees and paper. I was a single mom dating NFL players. I was looking good for having had three kids but you know what set me apart? A sista knew how to get in the kitchen and COOOOOOOK a brotha something. These dudes had pretty girls climbing all over their back. Stop trying to compete with someone else’s *** and learn how to put ‘em to sleep with some steak and potatoes. They’ll be asking YOU ‘do you love me?’…that REAL..lol

  • Mr O Dot

    wow, yall crazy! i forgot about this…ok, who’s first…

    Jalilmaster,

Apparently, you’re just…..um…stupid…because nowhere did I say that I think “whiter is better” or whatever…either you cant read, or you didnt read my WHOLE posts out of ignorance…all that variation talk probably blew up your brain cells…now im mad that i actually responded to you

    nahnah,

I knew you would have somethin to say! In addition to this topic, you seem to have your own personal issues with the way dark-skinned women are portrayed in society (from all ur other posts on other articles)…

but um, I’ll just respond to the only point you actually made that concerned me…I wasnt trying to compare the “black plight” to the holocaust…slavery was cleary centuries longer and all that; but it was the only example of an extreme situation to an entire race that i could think of…and was just tryna say that they dont cry about it anymore, they made the negative into a positive…

    BostonBitty,

You’re a bio major and you dont know about the importance of genetic variation? GO STUDY! NOW! If it wasnt for variation (sexual variation, mutation, etc) there would be no evolution and we’d all prob be dead from disease…but anyways it seems that you misconstrued what i said (why dont people read intuitively anymore?!)…go re-read. lighter skinned–>more LIKELY varied genes–>desirable, because it means greater ability to survive; yes, it’s all about procreation, however they pick the STRONGEST mate, meaning the mate that will most likely yield stronger children –>hence variation in genes LIKELY means varied children which means stronger genes –>WHICH IS MORE DESIRABLE…

but again, that’s just from a genetic viewpoint (go ask ur professor or something); How’d u do on exams? my goodness!

ALSO, I hate that word “coon” itz sooooo stupid..so just because the athletes chose britney spears makes them a coon??! if they dont pick a dark-skinned sista, then they’re wrong? yall are trippin! this is wat im talkin about…ignorance, still being carried on because of what happened in the past (black with black and nothin else)

ONCE AGAIN, for those who cant read (i.e Jalilmaster)…I love my women all shades (including charcoal, IT WAS A JOKE PEOPLE)..preferably Black or hispanic though, im not attracted to White women (BASED ON preference, not any “black only” notion that you guys judge by)

i still love you guys though. you just ignant sometimes. lol.

  • Mr O Dot

    Ps, nahnah,

my oldest sister used to be on that bleaching tip. lOL…

    women are so stupid sometimes

  • Bahama Mama

    GO on HUBBY!!

Let em know how u feel son!!

    LOL

  • Mr O Dot

he sounds just as silly as you, bostonbitty…only on the opposite spectrum

  • kara kor el

    O Dot, you’re an idiot

By your logic, white people are automatically the most superior by virtue of being the lightest, because according to you, light skinned people have the most potential for genetic variation. Where did you say you were from again, Nigeria? Are you dark skinned? Maybe you’re a victim of your own backwards theory.

  • BostonBitty

    Mr O Dot,

he can stay on that opp spectrum, seems like the same spectrum your on…backwards. lol “You de bleach u you O you de bleach!!”~ Fela

im done throwin salt at you though. We all brothers and sisters in the struggle. I think if you really examined the struggle, you would see how nuanced it is and quotes like these are part of it. Self hate. UP MY PEOPLE!!

Can we please stop generalizing about what “Black men” want? Just because these yahoos are all about the light skin doesn’t mean there aren’t real black men who love chocolate (and mocha, and cream, and every shade in between. Sisters are like Skittles- every color of the rainbow). Be more accurate and say “some brothers”; you wouldn’t want us saying “Black women kill me when they…” when we really mean just some women who act a certain way.

Just trying to keep the conversation friendly.

  • I wish black women would date non black men

GOD Black womennnnnnnnnnnnn GOD…..DATE a white man

Black men LAUGH that you cr over them and are UPSET they don’t want black women

They come on these sites and GLOAT at how they are being “snatched” up and they are as ugly as ever. STOP making these crusty midnight mandingo black ugly men feel you are a worthless breed of woman!!!!

    GET A NON BLACK MAN!!!!!!

    JAH!

  • Hell2daNo

  • wifey06

MBogus- Not only do I have a UMD masters but I see it in the corporate world. If they are here where are they? Not saying there are none but not many from where I stand. I can’t help see what is right in front of our eyes whether it is up close and personal or the bull they show on tv.

But while you are talking where are your facts and statistics commparing ratio of black men in jail to how many are in college? You can not rebuke my opinion when you provided no facts what so ever yourself. Hypocrit

Stop calling the kettle black you pot head!!!
