Lord Have Mercy: BeBe Winans Arrested For Domestic Abuse

Good Lord Almighty, BeBe Winans has been booked for jacking up his ex-wife:
Gospel singer BeBe Winans was booked yesterday on a domestic assault rap for allegedly pushing his ex-wife to the ground during an argument last month. According to a court filing, a copy of which you’ll find below, Winans, 46, and his former spouse got into a “verbal altercation” on February 13 about “custody issues dealing with their children.” At the time, Winans was at his ex-wife Debra’s Nashville home, where he had driven to pick up his children. “The victim was telling the defendant of issues with the children when he became irate. The defendant then pushed the victim to the ground.” Winans, pictured in the mug shot at right, was arrested yesterday on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge. He was briefly held at the Davidson County jail before posting $1000 bond. Winans, best known for albums recorded with his sister CeCe, has won four Grammy awards.

I think some do, but there have been comments posted here and elsewhere that paint Brown as another black male who’s being targeted because of his race.

And domestic violence absolutely is not an issue connected with any particular race — Just like week, a white man killed his girlfriend and a few other people, I believe, and there are many cases that touch all races and ethnicities. (On a different note, both the shooter in the killings in Alabama and the school shooting in Germany this week were white).
This is not about blame, in my opinion, it’s about education and awareness that this is an issue that affects many.

There was a post about the Alabama murders this week, but, yes, I agree that there should be a follow-up, especially since it came out that he worked as a police officer at some point, and he had a list of people he targeted for revenge. He killed those people in broad daylight in cold blood. Horrible.
And I also noted that the mug shot of the brother who was sought last week in the murders of his wife, her sister, and three children in Cleveland was all over the news, but I didn’t see the photo of the white Alabama shooter until days after the tragedy.

I disagree — Abusers are abusers, no matter what race they are, or the race of the victim. There was a case not too long ago when a brother and former police officer, Bobby Cutts, was convicted of killing the white pregnant mother of his child (abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=4355338&page=1), and his child witnessed the murder.
And I’ve seen the reverse — cases in which white men have *****aulted and killed their black girlfriends and wives (There was a case like this in Atlanta years ago where a white man hired someone to kill his black estranged wife, I believe). It’s a problem across the board.

That’s not the only reason why some women don’t leave. There are women right now in abusive relationships who are in fear for their lives, who have been told that they will be hurt or worse if they attempt to leave.
